Lower LH front window
-
Connect to vehicle using Toolbox
NoteNavigate to https://toolbox.teslamotors.com and establish connection to vehicle, Select connection status icon at top right corner then select connect locally, Icon will turn green when connected, Successful connection will automatically unlock vehicle gateway and place UI in Service Mode Plus, Media converter box powered by laptop USB or 12v power outlet, Ethernet connection will provide communication, If RJ45 ethernet connector present at service panel media converter box not required, Vehicles built 4/5/2024 onwards have OBDII connection integrated into drivers lower IP cover, Use OBDII connection if this applies, Some vehicles may have both RJ45 and OBDII, If vehicle has both RJ45 and OBD-II then connect via RJ45, For local connection issues with Toolbox refer to https://toolbox.teslamotors.com/articles/43695

Select ‘Actions/Autodiag’ and search for ‘Thermal’

Disconnect Toolbox from vehicle and remove laptop and Diagnostics Adapter Ethernet Harness
NoteIf RJ45 ethernet diagnostic connector present media converter box not required disconnect directly from laptop using an RJ45 Ethernet cable or OBDII connection

Raise and support vehicle
NotePrepare to raise vehicle, Set air suspension to "Jack Mode", Position lift arm pads on vehicle jack pads

Turn wheel fully to the right
-
Open hood
NoteSelect Controls > Frunk Open

Remove rear underhood apron
Note8x clips

Remove LH underhood apron
Note10x clips, (*Use this step for Palladium S procedures)

Remove RH underhood apron
Note10x clips

Remove front underhood apron
Note7x clips

Remove frunk access panel
Note3x clips, 3x hooks, 1x connector

Remove frunk carpet
-
Remove frunk assembly
Note4x bolts, 10mm, 5 Nm

Remove bolts securing fascia bracket to carrier
Note6x bolts, 10mm, 4 Nm

Remove push clips securing LH front wheel arch liner to fascia and move to the side for access
Note5x push clips, Shift bottom of liner down and flex top of liner against tire

Remove bolt securing front fascia to LH fender bracket
Note1x bolt, T25, 5 Nm
-
Turn wheel fully to the left
-
Remove push clips securing RH front wheel arch liner to fascia and move to the side for access
Note5x push clips, Shift bottom of liner down and flex top of liner against tire

Remove bolt securing front fascia to RH fender bracket
Note1x bolt, T25, 5 Nm

Power off vehicle from center display
NoteVia Controls > Safety & Security > Power Off

Disconnect LV battery connector and First Responder Loop
Note2x connectors, Lift up and release green locking tab, Pull black connector lock outwards to release connection

Disconnect front fascia harness
Note2x connectors, Pull red tab to disengage lock then disconnect, Located behind RH wheel arch liner
-
Release front fascia valance from front aero shield
Note8x bolts, 10mm, 6 Nm, 2x clips, 2x datums, Do not remove 3x middle bolts
-
Release fascia from fender brackets and pull forward to remove from vehicle
NoteSet fascia on protected surface, Recommend assistance

Disconnect active grille shutter actuator connector
Note1x locking electrical connector
-
Release ambient temperature sensor grommet from active grille shutter
-
Disconnect ambient temperature sensor connector
Note1x connector, Disconnect then route through grommet opening in shroud
-
Raise vehicle partially and lower onto locks
NoteSet vehicle to comfortable working height, Make sure there's an audible click of the locks on both sides before lowering, otherwise vehicle may tilt to the side

Place coolant catcher below LH front of vehicle
-
Disconnect radiator inlet and outlet hoses from top LH side of radiator and allow coolant to drain
Note2x spring clips, Plug hoses and radiator as needed

Place coolant catcher below RH front of vehicle

Disconnect radiator inlet and outlet hoses from top RH side of radiator and allow coolant to drain
Note2x spring clips, Plug hoses and radiator as needed

Raise vehicle fully and lower lift onto locks
NoteSet vehicle to comfortable working height, Ensure an audible click of locks on both sides is heard before lowering, Vehicle may tilt to the side if both locks are not engaged

Disconnect RH cooling fan module connector
Note1x connector, Disconnect this after coolant hoses are plugged to avoid coolant damaging connector

Disconnect LH cooling fan module connector
Note1x connector, Disconnect this after coolant hoses are plugged to avoid coolant damaging connector

Remove LH bolt securing cooling fan module assembly to front end carrier
Note1x bolt, 8mm, 10 Nm, Recommend assistance to support the cooling fan module assembly

Remove RH bolt securing cooling fan module assembly to front end carrier
Note1x bolt, 8mm, 10 Nm, Recommend assistance to support the cooling fan module assembly

Remove cooling fan module assembly
NoteRecommend assistance, Gently place assembly on flat surface with fans down

Remove active grille shutter from cooling fan module assembly
Note12x locking tabs, 2x clips
-
Remove 12mm radiator
Note2x locking clips, 2x guides, Release clips then guide out, Do not pry on radiator to prevent damage

Clean debris from radiator
NoteVacuum both sides of radiator, Do not damage fins of radiator

Clean radiator with compressed air
NoteClean both sides of radiator with compressed air, Do not damage fins of radiator

Remove 21mm radiator
Note4x locking clips, Release one clip at a time

Clean debris from radiator
NoteVacuum both sides of radiator, Do not damage fins of radiator

Install 21mm radiator
Note4x locking clips, Position then secure clips

Install 12mm radiator
Note2x locking clips, 2x guides, Guide in then secure clips

Install active grille shutter onto cooling fan module assembly
Note12x locking tabs, 2x clips, Gently place new assembly on flat surface with fans down, Align datums before engaging tabs, Make sure shutter slides inside tab not outside

Position cooling fan module assembly
NoteRecommend assistance, 2x bolts, 8mm, 10 Nm, Do not torque bolts

Torque LH bolt securing cooling fan module assembly to front end carrier
Note1x bolt, 8mm, 10 Nm, Recommend assistance to support the cooling fan module assembly

Torque RH bolt securing cooling fan module assembly to front end carrier
Note1x bolt, 8mm, 10 Nm, Recommend assistance to support the cooling fan module assembly

Install RH cooling fan module connector

Lower vehicle partially and set lift onto locks
NoteRaise lift off locks, then hold lock release lever to keep locks free while vehicle is lowered, Set vehicle to comfortable working height

Install radiator inlet and outlet hoses onto top RH side of radiator
Note2x spring clips, Remove plugs from both ends of each coolant connection, Perform push-pull-push test to make sure hoses are fully seated

Place coolant catcher below LH front of vehicle
-
Install radiator inlet and outlet hoses onto top LH side of radiator
Note2x spring clips, Remove plugs from both ends of each coolant connection, Perform push-pull-push test to make sure hoses are fully seated

Remove coolant catcher from under vehicle
-
Connect ambient temperature sensor connector
Note1x connector, Route through grommet opening in shroud then connect
-
Secure ambient temperature sensor grommet onto active grille shutter
-
Install active grille shutter actuator connector
Note1x locking electrical connector, Engage locking tab
-
Lower vehicle until tires are touching ground
NoteRaise lift off locks, then hold lock release lever to keep locks free while vehicle is lowered
-
Install front fascia onto vehicle and secure fascia to fender brackets
NoteRecommend Assistance, Route fascia harness while installing, Verify front fascia valance sits under front aero shield before proceeding

Apply Loctite 222 to fasteners and secure front fascia valance to front aero shield
Note8x bolts, 10mm, 6 Nm, 2x clips, 2x datums, Insert valance datums into aero shield holes, Do not remove 3x middle bolts

Connect front fascia harness
Note2x connectors, Engage locking tab, Located behind RH wheel arch liner
-
Install bolt securing fascia to RH fender bracket
Note1x bolt, T25, 5 Nm
-
Install push clips securing RH front wheel liner to fascia
Note5x push clips
-
Remove coolant bottle cap
-
Place empty coolant container into front storage area
-
Fill container with at least 15L of coolant
-
Place filled coolant container into front storage area
-
Install coolant reservoir adapter cap
onto coolant bottle assembly
Note(*Use this step for Palladium S procedures) 1x adapter cap

Setup coolant refill tool
NoteVerify all valves on refill tool are in the closed position, See image for clarity
-
Install vacuum refill hose into refill cap on coolant bottle
NotePerform push-pull-push test to verify hose is fully installed
-
Place refill hose inside filled coolant container
NoteMake sure hose end is fully submerged into coolant
-
Position overflow hose into empty container
-
Connect shop air supply to coolant refill tool
NoteIf not already done, Verify refill valve is set to off
-
Open air inlet valve to draw a vacuum, Once gauge stabilizes, Fully close valve
NoteGauge stabilizes roughly (60-70 cmHg), Vacuum should not drop after the valves are closed

Slowly open refill valve to allow coolant to be drawn into system
NoteMake sure hose end of refill hose is fully submerged during entire process

Once gauge reads zero, close coolant refill valve
-
Remove coolant refill hose from coolant container
-
Remove coolant overflow hose from coolant container
-
Remove vacuum refill hose from refill cap on coolant bottle
-
Remove coolant reservoir adapter cap from coolant bottle assembly

Remove coolant refill tool from vehicle
-
Remove both coolant containers from inside underhood area
-
Connect First Responder Loop and LV battery connector
Note2x connectors Secure FRL first, Seat LV battery connection and push black connector lock inwards to secure, Engage green locking tab when fully seated

Connect to vehicle using Toolbox

Select ‘Actions/Autodiag’ tab and search for ‘ Purge'

Select ‘TEST_VCFRONT_X_THERMAL-COOLANT-AIR-PURGE ’, click ‘Run’, and allow routine to complete
NoteMake sure vehicle is not in drive state, Plan is still running despite the stop message, Coolant pumps will be audible, Test lasts approximately 10 mins, Speeds can be monitored in garage under PT Thermal tab, Idle speed = ~1500 RPM, Test will vary speeds from 3500-6500 RPM and actuate valve between SERIES and PARALLEL, Putting vehicle into drive state will stop this routine, If speeds hover at 7000 RPM, that means the pumps are air locked, perform vacuum fill again, Continue to add coolant and purge until the coolant level reaches between the NOM and MAX Lines on the bottle, Select ‘X’ at top right of window to close once complete

Inspect coolant level and top off as necessary
NoteEnsure that the fluid level is at the Max line, Top off fluid as required

Install coolant bottle cap

Select ‘Actions/Autodiag’ and search for ‘Thermal’

Select ‘TEST-SELF_VCFRONT_X_HEAT-PUMP-THERMAL-PERFORMANCE’, click ‘Run’, and allow routine to complete
NoteSelect ‘X’ at top right of window to close once complete

Press brake pedal to turn on drive rails

Turn wheel fully to the right

Install bolt securing fascia to LH fender bracket
Note1x bolt, T25, 5 Nm

Install push clips securing LH front wheel liner to fascia
Note5x push clips

Install bolts securing fascia bracket to carrier
Note6x bolts, 10mm, 4 Nm
-
Install frunk assembly
Note4x bolts, 10mm, 5 Nm
-
Install frunk carpet
NoteVerify carpet is properly seated under the seal

Install frunk access panel
Note3x clips, 3x hooks, 1x connector
-
Install front underhood apron
Note7x clips
-
Install RH underhood apron
Note10x clips

Install LH underhood apron

Install rear underhood apron
Note8x clips

Close hood
NotePress firmly in green highlighted areas (see image), Damage may result from pressure elsewhere on hood

Turn steering wheel back to center

Remove vehicle from lift
NoteLower lift arms fully and remove them from under vehicle, Remove air suspension from "Jack Mode"

Raise LH front window

Close LH front door
