1. Open LH front door

   

2. Lower LH front window

   

3. Connect to vehicle using Toolbox
   Note

   Navigate to https://toolbox.teslamotors.com and establish connection to vehicle, Select connection status icon at top right corner then select connect locally, Icon will turn green when connected, Successful connection will automatically unlock vehicle gateway and place UI in Service Mode Plus, Media converter box powered by laptop USB or 12v power outlet, Ethernet connection will provide communication, If RJ45 ethernet connector present at service panel media converter box not required, Vehicles built 4/5/2024 onwards have OBDII connection integrated into drivers lower IP cover, Use OBDII connection if this applies, Some vehicles may have both RJ45 and OBDII, If vehicle has both RJ45 and OBD-II then connect via RJ45, For local connection issues with Toolbox refer to https://toolbox.teslamotors.com/articles/43695

   

   

   

   

   

   

   

4. Select ‘Actions/Autodiag’ and search for ‘Thermal’

   

5. Run ODIN routine PROC_VCFRONT_X_START-THERMAL-FILL-DRAIN-COOLANTvia Toolbox:(link)
6. Disconnect Toolbox from vehicle and remove laptop and Diagnostics Adapter Ethernet Harness
   Note

   If RJ45 ethernet diagnostic connector present media converter box not required disconnect directly from laptop using an RJ45 Ethernet cable or OBDII connection

   

   

   

   

   

   

   

7. Raise and support vehicle
   Note

   Prepare to raise vehicle, Set air suspension to "Jack Mode", Position lift arm pads on vehicle jack pads

   

   

   

8. Turn wheel fully to the right

   

9. Open hood
   Note

   Select Controls > Frunk Open

   

   

10. Remove rear underhood apron
    Note

    8x clips

    

    

11. Remove LH underhood apron
    Note

    10x clips, (*Use this step for Palladium S procedures)

    

    

12. Remove RH underhood apron
    Note

    10x clips

    

    

13. Remove front underhood apron
    Note

    7x clips

    

    

14. Remove frunk access panel
    Note

    3x clips, 3x hooks, 1x connector

    

    

15. Remove frunk carpet

    

    

16. Remove frunk assembly
    Note

    4x bolts, 10mm, 5 Nm

    

    

17. Remove bolts securing fascia bracket to carrier
    Note

    6x bolts, 10mm, 4 Nm

    

18. Remove push clips securing LH front wheel arch liner to fascia and move to the side for access
    Note

    5x push clips, Shift bottom of liner down and flex top of liner against tire

    

    

    

19. Remove bolt securing front fascia to LH fender bracket
    Note

    1x bolt, T25, 5 Nm

    

20. Turn wheel fully to the left

    

21. Remove push clips securing RH front wheel arch liner to fascia and move to the side for access
    Note

    5x push clips, Shift bottom of liner down and flex top of liner against tire

    

    

    

22. Remove bolt securing front fascia to RH fender bracket
    Note

    1x bolt, T25, 5 Nm

    

23. Power off vehicle from center display
    Note

    Via Controls > Safety & Security > Power Off

    

24. Disconnect LV battery connector and First Responder Loop
    Note

    2x connectors, Lift up and release green locking tab, Pull black connector lock outwards to release connection

    

    

    

    

25. Disconnect front fascia harness
    Note

    2x connectors, Pull red tab to disengage lock then disconnect, Located behind RH wheel arch liner

    

26. Release front fascia valance from front aero shield
    Note

    8x bolts, 10mm, 6 Nm, 2x clips, 2x datums, Do not remove 3x middle bolts

    

    

27. Release fascia from fender brackets and pull forward to remove from vehicle
    Note

    Set fascia on protected surface, Recommend assistance

    

    

28. Disconnect active grille shutter actuator connector
    Note

    1x locking electrical connector

    

    

29. Release ambient temperature sensor grommet from active grille shutter

    

30. Disconnect ambient temperature sensor connector
    Note

    1x connector, Disconnect then route through grommet opening in shroud

    

    

31. Raise vehicle partially and lower onto locks
    Note

    Set vehicle to comfortable working height, Make sure there's an audible click of the locks on both sides before lowering, otherwise vehicle may tilt to the side

    

    

32. Place coolant catcher below LH front of vehicle

    

33. Disconnect radiator inlet and outlet hoses from top LH side of radiator and allow coolant to drain
    Note

    2x spring clips, Plug hoses and radiator as needed

    

    

34. Place coolant catcher below RH front of vehicle

    

35. Disconnect radiator inlet and outlet hoses from top RH side of radiator and allow coolant to drain
    Note

    2x spring clips, Plug hoses and radiator as needed

    

    

36. Raise vehicle fully and lower lift onto locks
    Note

    Set vehicle to comfortable working height, Ensure an audible click of locks on both sides is heard before lowering, Vehicle may tilt to the side if both locks are not engaged

    

    

37. Disconnect RH cooling fan module connector
    Note

    1x connector, Disconnect this after coolant hoses are plugged to avoid coolant damaging connector

    

38. Disconnect LH cooling fan module connector
    Note

    1x connector, Disconnect this after coolant hoses are plugged to avoid coolant damaging connector

    

39. Remove LH bolt securing cooling fan module assembly to front end carrier
    Note

    1x bolt, 8mm, 10 Nm, Recommend assistance to support the cooling fan module assembly

    

40. Remove RH bolt securing cooling fan module assembly to front end carrier
    Note

    1x bolt, 8mm, 10 Nm, Recommend assistance to support the cooling fan module assembly

    

41. Remove cooling fan module assembly
    Note

    Recommend assistance, Gently place assembly on flat surface with fans down

    

    

42. Remove active grille shutter from cooling fan module assembly
    Note

    12x locking tabs, 2x clips

    

    

    

    

    

43. Remove 12mm radiator
    Note

    2x locking clips, 2x guides, Release clips then guide out, Do not pry on radiator to prevent damage

    

    

    

    

    

44. Clean debris from radiator
    Note

    Vacuum both sides of radiator, Do not damage fins of radiator

    

    

45. Clean radiator with compressed air
    Note

    Clean both sides of radiator with compressed air, Do not damage fins of radiator

    

    

    

46. Remove 21mm radiator
    Note

    4x locking clips, Release one clip at a time

    

    

    

    

47. Clean debris from radiator
    Note

    Vacuum both sides of radiator, Do not damage fins of radiator

    

    

48. Clean radiator with compressed air
    Note

    Clean both sides of radiator with compressed air, Do not damage fins of radiator

    

    

    

49. Install 21mm radiator
    Note

    4x locking clips, Position then secure clips

    

    

    

    

50. Install 12mm radiator
    Note

    2x locking clips, 2x guides, Guide in then secure clips

    

    

    

    

    

51. Install active grille shutter onto cooling fan module assembly
    Note

    12x locking tabs, 2x clips, Gently place new assembly on flat surface with fans down, Align datums before engaging tabs, Make sure shutter slides inside tab not outside

    

    

    

    

    

    

    

52. Position cooling fan module assembly
    Note

    Recommend assistance, 2x bolts, 8mm, 10 Nm, Do not torque bolts

    

    

    

53. Torque LH bolt securing cooling fan module assembly to front end carrier
    Note

    1x bolt, 8mm, 10 Nm, Recommend assistance to support the cooling fan module assembly

    

54. Torque RH bolt securing cooling fan module assembly to front end carrier
    Note

    1x bolt, 8mm, 10 Nm, Recommend assistance to support the cooling fan module assembly

    

55. Install RH cooling fan module connector
    Note

    1x connector

    

56. Install LH cooling fan module connector
    Note

    1x connector

    

57. Lower vehicle partially and set lift onto locks
    Note

    Raise lift off locks, then hold lock release lever to keep locks free while vehicle is lowered, Set vehicle to comfortable working height

    

    

58. Install radiator inlet and outlet hoses onto top RH side of radiator
    Note

    2x spring clips, Remove plugs from both ends of each coolant connection, Perform push-pull-push test to make sure hoses are fully seated

    

59. Place coolant catcher below LH front of vehicle

    

60. Install radiator inlet and outlet hoses onto top LH side of radiator
    Note

    2x spring clips, Remove plugs from both ends of each coolant connection, Perform push-pull-push test to make sure hoses are fully seated

    

61. Remove coolant catcher from under vehicle

    

62. Connect ambient temperature sensor connector
    Note

    1x connector, Route through grommet opening in shroud then connect

    

    

63. Secure ambient temperature sensor grommet onto active grille shutter

    

64. Install active grille shutter actuator connector
    Note

    1x locking electrical connector, Engage locking tab

    

65. Lower vehicle until tires are touching ground
    Note

    Raise lift off locks, then hold lock release lever to keep locks free while vehicle is lowered

    

    

    

66. Install front fascia onto vehicle and secure fascia to fender brackets
    Note

    Recommend Assistance, Route fascia harness while installing, Verify front fascia valance sits under front aero shield before proceeding

    

    

67. Apply Loctite 222 to fasteners and secure front fascia valance to front aero shield
    Note

    8x bolts, 10mm, 6 Nm, 2x clips, 2x datums, Insert valance datums into aero shield holes, Do not remove 3x middle bolts

    

    

    

68. Connect front fascia harness
    Note

    2x connectors, Engage locking tab, Located behind RH wheel arch liner

    

69. Install bolt securing fascia to RH fender bracket
    Note

    1x bolt, T25, 5 Nm

    

70. Install push clips securing RH front wheel liner to fascia
    Note

    5x push clips

    

    

71. Remove coolant bottle cap

    

72. Place empty coolant container into front storage area

    

73. Fill container with at least 15L of coolant

    

74. Place filled coolant container into front storage area

    

75. Install coolant reservoir adapter cap onto coolant bottle assembly
    Note

    (*Use this step for Palladium S procedures) 1x adapter cap

    

    

    

76. Setup coolant refill tool
    Note

    Verify all valves on refill tool are in the closed position, See image for clarity

    

    

77. Install vacuum refill hose into refill cap on coolant bottle
    Note

    Perform push-pull-push test to verify hose is fully installed

    

78. Place refill hose inside filled coolant container
    Note

    Make sure hose end is fully submerged into coolant

    

    

79. Position overflow hose into empty container

    

    

80. Connect shop air supply to coolant refill tool
    Note

    If not already done, Verify refill valve is set to off

    

81. Open air inlet valve to draw a vacuum, Once gauge stabilizes, Fully close valve
    Note

    Gauge stabilizes roughly (60-70 cmHg), Vacuum should not drop after the valves are closed

    

    

82. Slowly open refill valve to allow coolant to be drawn into system
    Note

    Make sure hose end of refill hose is fully submerged during entire process

    

83. Once gauge reads zero, close coolant refill valve

    

    

84. Remove coolant refill hose from coolant container

    

85. Remove coolant overflow hose from coolant container

    

86. Remove vacuum refill hose from refill cap on coolant bottle

    

87. Remove coolant reservoir adapter cap from coolant bottle assembly
    Note

    (*Use this step for Palladium S procedures)

    

    

88. Remove coolant refill tool from vehicle

    

    

89. Remove both coolant containers from inside underhood area

    

    

90. Connect First Responder Loop and LV battery connector
    Note

    2x connectors Secure FRL first, Seat LV battery connection and push black connector lock inwards to secure, Engage green locking tab when fully seated

    

    

    

91. Connect to vehicle using Toolbox
    Note

92. Select ‘Actions/Autodiag’ tab and search for ‘ Purge'

    

93. Select ‘TEST_VCFRONT_X_THERMAL-COOLANT-AIR-PURGE ’, click ‘Run’, and allow routine to complete
    Note

    Make sure vehicle is not in drive state, Plan is still running despite the stop message, Coolant pumps will be audible, Test lasts approximately 10 mins, Speeds can be monitored in garage under PT Thermal tab, Idle speed = ~1500 RPM, Test will vary speeds from 3500-6500 RPM and actuate valve between SERIES and PARALLEL, Putting vehicle into drive state will stop this routine, If speeds hover at 7000 RPM, that means the pumps are air locked, perform vacuum fill again, Continue to add coolant and purge until the coolant level reaches between the NOM and MAX Lines on the bottle, Select ‘X’ at top right of window to close once complete

    

    

    

94. Inspect coolant level and top off as necessary
    Note

    Ensure that the fluid level is at the Max line, Top off fluid as required

    

    

95. Install coolant bottle cap

    

96. Select ‘Actions/Autodiag’ and search for ‘Thermal’

    

97. Select ‘TEST-SELF_VCFRONT_X_HEAT-PUMP-THERMAL-PERFORMANCE’, click ‘Run’, and allow routine to complete
    Note

    Select ‘X’ at top right of window to close once complete

    

    

    

98. Disconnect Toolbox from vehicle and remove laptop and Diagnostics Adapter Ethernet Harness
    Note

    If RJ45 ethernet diagnostic connector present media converter box not required disconnect directly from laptop using an RJ45 Ethernet cable or OBDII connection

    

    

    

    

    

    

    

99. Press brake pedal to turn on drive rails

    

100. Turn wheel fully to the right

     

101. Install bolt securing fascia to LH fender bracket
     Note

     1x bolt, T25, 5 Nm

     

102. Install push clips securing LH front wheel liner to fascia
     Note

     5x push clips

     

     

103. Install bolts securing fascia bracket to carrier
     Note

     6x bolts, 10mm, 4 Nm

     

104. Install frunk assembly
     Note

     4x bolts, 10mm, 5 Nm

     

     

105. Install frunk carpet
     Note

     Verify carpet is properly seated under the seal

     

     

106. Install frunk access panel
     Note

     3x clips, 3x hooks, 1x connector

     

     

107. Install front underhood apron
     Note

     7x clips

     

     

108. Install RH underhood apron
     Note

     10x clips

     

     

109. Install LH underhood apron
     Note

     10x clips

     

     

110. Install rear underhood apron
     Note

     8x clips

     

     

111. Close hood
     Note

     Press firmly in green highlighted areas (see image), Damage may result from pressure elsewhere on hood

     

     

112. Turn steering wheel back to center

     

113. Remove vehicle from lift
     Note

     Lower lift arms fully and remove them from under vehicle, Remove air suspension from "Jack Mode"

     

     

114. Raise LH front window

     

115. Close LH front door
     Note

     Close doors
