Pipe - Brake Junction to Jounce - RH (Remove and Replace)

Correction code 33030022 2.88 NOTE: Unless otherwise explicitly stated in the procedure, the above correction code and FRT reflect all of the work required to perform this procedure, including the linked procedures. Remove

  1. Open the LH front door.
  2. Lower the LH front window.
  3. Move LH front seat rearwards.
  4. Remove the LH center console side panel carpet. See Carpet - Side Panel - Center Console - LH (Remove and Replace).
  5. Remove the bolt the attaches the LH side of the HEPA assembly to the lower dash.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
  6. Open the RH front door.
  7. Lower the RH front window.
  8. Move the RH front seat rearwards.
  9. Remove the passenger footwell cover. See Cover - Footwell - Passenger (Remove and Replace).
  10. Remove the RH middle A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Middle - LH (Remove and Replace).
  11. Remove the RH lower A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Lower - LH (Remove and Replace).
  12. Remove the RH center console side panel carpet. See Carpet - Side Panel - Center Console - LH (Remove and Replace).
  13. Remove the front passenger footrest panel. See Panel - Footrest - Front Passenger (LHD) (Remove and Replace).
  14. Remove the bolt the attaches the RH side of the HEPA assembly to the lower dash.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 4 in extension
    • 10 mm socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
  15. Raise and support the vehicle. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  16. Remove all four wheels. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  17. Lower vehicle partially and set lift onto locks.

    Note
    Raise the lift off locks, and then hold lock release lever to keep locks free while vehicle is lowered. Set vehicle to comfortable working height.
  18. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  19. On the touchscreen, touch Controls > Safety & Security > Power Off.
  20. Disconnect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  21. Remove the front underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Front (Remove and Replace).
  22. Remove the underhood storage access panel. See Underhood Storage Unit Access Panel (Remove and Replace).
  23. Remove the frunk carpet. See Carpet - Underhood Storage (Remove and Replace).
  24. Remove the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Replace).
  25. Remove the LH and RH wiper arms. See Wiper Arm - LH (Remove and Replace).
  26. Remove the LH and RH shock tower covers. See Cover - Shock Tower - LH (Remove and Replace).
  27. Remove the cowl screen panel. See Panel - Cowl Screen (Remove and Replace).
  28. Remove the bolts (x3) that attach the LV battery to the vehicle, and then move the battery aside.

    Note
    Take note of datums (x2) and carefully move battery aside.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 4 in extension
    • 10 mm socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
    • Ratcheting combination wrench flex head 10 mm
  29. Remove the LH and RH shock tower V braces. See V Brace - Shock Tower - LH (Remove and Replace).
  30. Disconnect the air quality sensor harness connector.
  31. Remove the HEPA filter. See Filter - HEPA (Remove and Replace).
  32. Disconnect the battery coolant temp sensor locking connector.

    Note
    Disengage the red locking tab and slide the tab outwards to release connector.
  33. Disconnect the battery coolant pump connector.

  34. Release the clip that attaches the battery coolant pump to the bracket.

    Note
    Slide the pump off of the bracket, and then position the lower coolant hose clear of the HEPA assembly.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Clip pry tool
  35. Remove the HEPA filter housing. See Assembly - Filter - HEPA (Remove and Replace).
  36. Remove the battery controller module. See Module - Battery Controller (Remove and Replace).
  37. Remove the front body controller module. See Module - Body Controller - Front (Remove and Replace).
  38. Clean the area around the brake fluid reservoir, and then remove the brake reservoir cap.
  39. Remove brake fluid from the brake reservoir.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Oil catch/measure kit - 1541474-00-B
  40. Install the brake reservoir cap.
  41. Place shop rags underneath the brake lines to catch any fluid lost.
  42. Disconnect the brake fluid level sensor connector.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Pocket screwdriver
  43. Remove the nuts (x2) that attach the flexible brake lines to the master cylinder, and then remove the brake lines from the master cylinder.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Ratcheting combination wrench flex head 12mm
  44. Move the flexible brake lines behind the brake fluid reservoir.
  45. Place shop rags underneath the front brake pipe junction block to catch any fluid lost.
  46. Place shop rags underneath the front end of the RH brake junction to jounce pipe to catch any fluid lost.
  47. Remove the nut that attaches the rear end of the LH brake junction to jounce pipe to the junction block.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Ratcheting combination wrench flex head 12mm
  48. Remove the nut that attaches the rear end of the RH brake junction to jounce pipe to the junction block.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Ratcheting combination wrench flex head 12mm
  49. Remove the nut that attaches the front end of the RH brake junction to jounce pipe to the jounce hose.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Ratcheting combination wrench flex head 12mm
  50. Release the clip that attaches the battery supply hose to the RH side of the frunk harness.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Clip pry tool
  51. Release the clips (x2) that attach the air suspension rear bundle to the RH side of the frunk harness.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Clip pry tool
  52. Remove the clip that attaches the air suspension front bundle to the body.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Clip pry tool
  53. Release the clips (x5) that attach the RH brake junction to jounce pipe to the vehicle.

    CAUTION
    Do not bend the pipe during removal.
  54. Move the rear end of the RH brake junction to jounce pipe in front of the LH pipe.
  55. Move the RH brake junction to jounce pipe above the air suspension line bundle.
  56. Remove the bolts (x4) that attach the multi-system beam to the vehicle.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 15 mm deep socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
  57. Release the clip that attaches the RH hood strut to the ball stud at the body.

    Note
    Do not remove the strut from the ball stud.
  58. With assistance, carefully remove the RH brake junction to jounce pipe from the vehicle as follows:
    1. Lift the RH side of the multi-system beam, and then guide the pipe over the body.
    2. Briefly disengage the strut and support the hood.
    3. Guide the pipe outside of the strut, and then engage strut.
    4. Guide the pipe behind and under the battery hose, and then remove the pipe from the vehicle.

    CAUTION
    Do not bend the pipe during removal.

Install

  1. With assistance, carefully position the RH brake junction to jounce pipe on the vehicle as follows:
    1. Guide the pipe under and behind the battery hose.
    2. Briefly disengage the strut and support the hood.
    3. Guide the pipe inside of the strut and engage the strut.
    4. Lift the RH side of the multi-system beam, guide the pipe under the beam, and then position for installation.

    CAUTION
    Do not bend the pipe during installation.
  2. Install the clip that attaches the RH hood strut to the ball stud at the body.
  3. Install the bolts (x4) that attach the multi-system beam to the vehicle.
    60 Nm (44.2 lbs-ft)

    Note
    Position the multi-system beam and start bolt installation by hand.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 15 mm deep socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
  4. Move the RH brake junction to jounce pipe under the air suspension line bundle.
  5. Move the rear end of the RH brake junction to jounce pipe behind the LH pipe.
  6. Install the clips (x5) that attach the RH brake junction to jounce pipe to the vehicle.

    Do not bend the pipe during removal.
  7. Install the clip that attaches the air suspension front bundle to the body.
  8. Install the clips (x2) that attach the air suspension rear bundle to the RH side of the frunk harness.
  9. Install the clip that attaches the battery supply hose to the RH side of the frunk harness.
  10. Install the nut that attaches the front end of the RH brake junction to jounce pipe to the jounce hose.
    16 Nm (11.8 lbs-ft)

    • ¼ in to 3/8 in adapter
    • 3/8 in open crowfoot socket 12mm

    • Ratchet/torque wrench
  11. Install the nut that attaches the rear end of the RH brake junction to jounce pipe to the junction block.
    16 Nm (11.8 lbs-ft)

  12. Install the nut that attaches the rear end of the LH brake junction to jounce pipe to the junction block.
    16 Nm (11.8 lbs-ft)

    • ¼ in to 3/8 in adapter
    • 3/8 in open crowfoot socket 12mm

    • Ratchet/torque wrench
  13. Remove the shop rags from underneath the front end of the RH brake junction to jounce pipe.
  14. Remove the shop rags from underneath the RH brake junction to jounce pipe junction block.
  15. Release the flexible brake lines from behind the master cylinder, and position for installation.
  16. Install the nuts (x2) that attach the flexible brake lines to the master cylinder.
    16 Nm (11.8 lbs-ft)

    Clean the lines with brake cleaner before installation as necessary.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • ¼ in to 3/8 in adapter
    • 3/8 in open crowfoot socket 12mm
    • Ratcheting combination wrench flex head 12mm
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
  17. Connect the brake fluid level sensor connector.
  18. Remove the shop rags from underneath the brake lines.

    Clean up any residual fluid lost.
  19. Install the front body controller module. See Module - Body Controller - Front (Remove and Replace).
  20. Install the battery controller module. See Module - Battery Controller (Remove and Replace).
  21. Install the HEPA filter housing. See Assembly - Filter - HEPA (Remove and Replace).
  22. Install the clip that attaches the battery coolant pump to the bracket.

    Note
    Slide the pump on the bracket, and then install the lower coolant hose on the bracket.
  23. Connect the battery coolant pump connector.

    Fully engage the red locking tab.
  24. Connect the battery coolant temp sensor locking connector.

  25. Install the HEPA filter. See Filter - HEPA (Remove and Replace).
  26. Connect the air quality sensor harness connector.
  27. Install the LH and RH shock tower V braces. See V Brace - Shock Tower - LH (Remove and Replace).
  28. Install the cowl screen panel. See Panel - Cowl Screen (Remove and Replace).
  29. Install the bolts (x3) that attach the LV battery to the vehicle.
    9 Nm (6.6 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 4 in extension
    • 10 mm socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
    • Ratcheting combination wrench flex head 10 mm
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
  30. Install the LH and RH wiper arms. See Wiper Arm - LH (Remove and Replace).
  31. Install the LH and RH shock tower covers. See Cover - Shock Tower - LH (Remove and Replace).
  32. Connect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  33. Clean the area around the brake fluid reservoir, and then remove brake reservoir cap.
  34. Perform a brake fluid flush. Brake Fluid Bleed/Flush (Remove and Replace).
  35. Install the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Replace).
  36. Install the frunk carpet. See Carpet - Underhood Storage (Remove and Replace).
  37. Install the underhood storage access panel. See Underhood Storage Unit Access Panel (Remove and Replace).
  38. Install the front underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Front (Remove and Replace).
  39. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  40. Raise the vehicle partially and lower onto locks.

    Note
    Set the vehicle to a comfortable working height. Make sure there's an audible click of the locks on both sides before lowering, otherwise vehicle may tilt to the side.
  41. Install all four wheels. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  42. Lower the vehicle. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  43. Install the bolt the attaches the RH side of the HEPA assembly to the lower dash.
    7 Nm (5.2 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 4 in extension
    • 10 mm socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
  44. Install the front passenger footrest panel. See Panel - Footrest - Front Passenger (LHD) (Remove and Replace).
  45. Remove the RH middle A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Middle - LH (Remove and Replace).
  46. Remove the RH lower A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Lower - LH (Remove and Replace).
  47. Install the RH center console side panel carpet. See Carpet - Side Panel - Center Console - LH (Remove and Replace).
  48. Install the passenger footwell cover. See Cover - Footwell - Passenger (Remove and Replace).
  49. Move the RH front seat to original position.
  50. Raise the RH front window.
  51. Close the RH front door.
  52. Install the bolt the attaches the LH side of the HEPA assembly to the lower dash.
    7 Nm (5.2 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
  53. Install the LH center console side panel carpet. See Carpet - Side Panel - Center Console - LH (Remove and Replace).
  54. Move the LH front seat to original position.
  55. Raise the LH front window.
  56. Close the LH front door.
  57. Perform a post-repair validation test drive and ensure proper brake pedal feel and performance.
    Important: Add correction code 00040100 to account for time.
