Four Wheel Alignment Check

Note
Make sure the vehicle profiles on the alignment machine match the alignment specifications in the Service Manual. If alignment specifications do not match, they may need to be manually entered; refer to the alignment machine's instructions for additional information.

Procedure

  1. Latch the seat belt to the driver buckle.
  2. With the help from an assistant, place the vehicle on the alignment rack with the pins pulled from the turn plates, and then shift into Park.
  3. On the touchscreen, cycle the suspension to High, and then to Medium: Touch Controls > Suspension > High, and then Controls > Suspension > Medium.
  4. At the alignment rack, verify that the turn and slip plates are locked.
  5. Exit the vehicle, and then place wheel chocks at both sides of the LH rear wheel.
  6. Re-enter the vehicle, turn off the headlights and climate control, touch Controls > Service > Jack Mode, shift to Neutral, exit the vehicle, and then manually latch the driver door.
  7. Raise the alignment rack to a comfortable working height.
  8. If a suspension component was recently installed and requires torquing while the suspension is loaded, torque the joint now:

    Bolt and nut that attach the front lower aft link to the subframe
    127 Nm (93.7 lbs-ft)
    • 21 mm socket
    • 22 mm combination wrench
    Nut and bolt that attach the front air spring module to the front lower aft link
    140 Nm (103.2 lbs-ft)
    • 21 mm socket
    • 21 mm combination wrench
    Bolt and nut that attach the front lower fore link to the subframe
    127 Nm (93.7 lbs-ft)
    • 21 mm ratcheting combination wrench
    • 22 mm fixed head wrench
  9. Make sure the tire pressures are to specification.

    Note
    Refer to the "Tire and Loading Information" label located on the driver side B-pillar.
  10. Install the alignment heads to the center of the each wheel, and then adjust the side arms as necessary to grip the tires securely.
  11. At the alignment machine, click or touch Begin Alignment and then enter the Service Visit information into the alignment machine.
  12. Verify that the turn plates are centered to the front tires, and reposition the plates as necessary.
  13. Remove the wheel chocks from the LH rear tire, move the vehicle forward by slowly rotating the tire counter-clockwise so that the front wheels center onto the turn plates, and then install the wheel chocks on either side of the tire.

    Note
    The turn and slip plates should automatically unlock.
  14. Install the brake pedal depressor.
  15. Perform a steering wheel caster sweep, then center and level the steering wheel, and then install the steering wheel lock to keep the steering wheel in position.
  16. Verify the alignment parameters are in specification and print the vehicle alignment summary.
  17. If the parameters are not within specifications, discontinue this procedure and perform the four wheel alignment adjustment. See Four Wheel Alignment Check and Adjust.
  18. Remove the steering wheel lock, the brake pedal depressor, the steering wheel level, and then place the vehicle into Park.
  19. Remove the alignment heads from all four wheels.
  20. Fully lower the alignment rack.
  21. Release the driver door latch.
  22. Remove the wheel chocks from the LH rear wheel.
  23. On the touchscreen, touch Controls > Service > Jack Mode to turn jack mode off, release the passenger seat belt from the driver buckle, and then remove the vehicle from the alignment rack.
