Cover - Knee Airbag - Driver (2025+) (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Disconnect the LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  2. Remove the driver footwell cover. See Cover - Footwell - Driver (Remove and Replace).
  3. Remove the clip and the bolts (x2) that attach the driver knee air bag assembly to the vehicle.

    Discard the bolts after removal.

    TIp
    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  4. Disconnect the connectors (x3), and then release the clip and the tabs (x6) to remove the driver knee air bag assembly from the vehicle.

    Note
    Release the 2 locking tabs on the air bag connector.
  5. Remove and discard the patch bolts (x2) that secure the driver knee air bag cover brace.

    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • External Torx E10
  6. Remove and discard the patch bolts (x4) that attach the driver knee airbag cover to the airbag, and then separate the cover from the airbag.

Install

  1. Attach the driver knee airbag to the knee airbag cover, and then secure them with new patch bolts (x4) (1116594-00-B).
    8 Nm (5.9 lbs-ft)

    • External Torx E10
  2. Install new patch bolts (x2) (1116594-00-B) that secure the driver knee air bag cover brace.

  3. Secure the tabs (x6) and the clip to install the driver knee air bag assembly onto the vehicle, and then connect the connectors (x3).

    Note
    Hook the tabs before fully seating. Use caution not to damage the connector/harness. Support the knee air bag while connecting the connector.
  4. Install the clip and new bolts (x2) (1116594-00-B) that attach the RH knee air bag assembly to the vehicle.
    8 Nm (5.9 lbs-ft)

  5. Install the driver footwell cover. See Cover - Footwell - Driver (Remove and Replace).
  6. Connect the LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
