Shield - Dust - Brake - Front - LH (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Remove the LH front wheel cap.
  2. Loosen the LH front axle nut.

    32mm, 245 Nm
  3. Raise and support the vehicle. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  4. Remove the LH front wheel. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  5. Remove the axle nut and washer that attaches the LH front drive axle to the hub assembly, and discard the axle nut.
  6. If installed, remove and discard the bolt that attaches the brake rotor to the hub.

    Note
    A new bolt will not be installed.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket
  7. Install the hub puller to the LH front brake rotor.
  8. Use the hub puller to release the LH front halfshaft from the hub assembly, then remove the hub puller from the vehicle.
  9. Remove the LH front brake rotor. See Brake Rotors - Front - Set (Remove and Replace).
  10. Remove the LH front hub. See Hub - Front - LH (Remove and Replace).
  11. Remove the bolts (x3) that attach the LH front brake shield to the vehicle.

Install

  1. Install the bolts (x3) that attach the LH front brake shield to the vehicle.

    T30, 8 Nm
  2. Install the LH front hub. See Hub - Front - LH (Remove and Replace).
  3. Install the LH front rotor to hub. See Brake Rotors - Front - Set (Remove and Replace).

    Do not install a bolt to attach the brake rotor to the hub.
  4. Install the new axle nut and washer hand tight.
  5. Install the LH front wheel. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  6. Lower the vehicle until the tires are touching the ground.
  7. Torque the LH front axle nut.

  8. Install the LH front wheel cap, aligning the valve stem with the wheel cap.
  9. Remove the vehicle from the lift.
