Paint Protection Film - Quarter Panels (Retrofit)

Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle on a 2 post lift. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  2. Remove the LH rear wheel. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  3. Remove the push clips (x6) and fan clips (x2) that attach LH rear wheel arch liner to the body, and then move the arch liner aside.
  4. Thoroughly clean the LH rear quarter panel area with soap and water.

    Remove any dirt or grease that might be present as this can hinder the adhesion properties of the paint protection film.
  5. Soak the LH rear quarter panel area with slip solution.

    Slip solution can be created by 1/4th baby shampoo and 3/4th water mixed thoroughly in a spray bottle. Recommend using distilled or filtered water as it contains less contaminants.
  6. Soak the front side of the LH paint protection film vinyl with slip solution.
  7. Peel off the LH paint protection film vinyl, and then soak the back side with slip solution.

    Soak the back side of the paint protection film with slip solution as you peel away from the backing.
  8. Apply the LH paint protection film to the LH rear quarter panel area.

    CAUTION
    Do not apply PPF over the rocker body line as it will not properly cure to vehicle.

    Note
    Align the paint protection film parallel to the rocker body line. Wrap approximately 10 mm overhanging portion of the film so that it adheres to the body in front of the quarter panel, and adjust as needed. In addition, wrap approximately 15 mm overhanging portion of the film so that it adheres to the body behind the quarter panel, and adjust as needed.

    Apply slip solution as you adjust as needed.
  9. Once the paint protection film is properly formed to the vehicle, use a squeegee to push any remaining air bubbles out towards the edges of the film.

    Spray tack solution to adhere to the body.

    Do not wash the vehicle for 24 hours after installation of the paint protection film.
  10. Position and then secure the push clips (x6) and fan clips (x2) that attach the LH rear wheel arch liner to wheel well.
  11. Install the LH rear wheel. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  12. Repeat step 2 through 11 on the RH side of the vehicle.
  13. Remove the vehicle from the lift. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
