Door Assembly - Rear - LH (Remove and Replace)

Correction code 10106202 1.44 NOTE: Unless otherwise explicitly stated in the procedure, the above correction code and FRT reflect all of the work required to perform this procedure, including the linked procedures. Do not stack correction codes unless explicitly told to do so. NOTE: See Flat Rate Times to learn more about FRTs and how they are created. Remove

  1. Remove the LH rear door trim panel. See Panel - Door Trim - Rear - LH (Remove and Replace).
  2. Remove the bolts that attach the LH rear door grab handle to the door assembly, and then remove the grab handle from the door.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 8 mm socket
  3. Remove the butyl patches that cover the LH rear door regulator isolator clamps.
  4. Remove plugs (x2) that cover the openings in LH rear door to access the LH rear door regulator mounting guides.
  5. Connect the window switch special tool to the LH rear door harness.
  6. Pull the white tab to release the connector lock, and then disconnect the LH rear door handle controller electrical connector.
  7. Disconnect the LH rear door pressure sensor electrical connector.

    Note
    DO NOT push down on the red locking tab. Pull the tab away from the connector until the connector is unlocked, and then continue pulling to release the connector.
  8. Remove the bolts (x6) that attach the LH rear door closeout panel to the door assembly.
    4 Nm (2.9 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 8 mm socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
    • 2 in extension
  9. Release the clips (x3) that attach the wiring harness to the LH rear door closeout panel, and then remove the closeout panel from the vehicle.

    Note
    Release the clips from the back of panel to prevent damage.
  10. Remove the LH rear door speaker. See Speaker - Rear Door - LH (Remove and Replace).
  11. Use the window switch special tool to raise the LH rear door glass partially for access to the foremost regulator isolator clamp.
  12. Remove the bolt that attaches the rear LH door glass to the foremost regulator isolator clamp.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm deep socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
    • 2 in extension
  13. Raise the LH rear window partially for access to the rearmost regulator isolator clamp.
  14. Remove the bolt that attaches the rear LH door glass to the rearmost regulator isolator clamp.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm deep socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
    • 2 in extension
  15. Release the LH C-pillar margin seal from the LH rear door assembly, and then remove the seal from the assembly.
  16. Release the LH rear door margin seal from the LH rear door assembly, and then remove the seal from the assembly.
  17. Release the clips (x11) that attach the LH rear door seal to the door assembly, and then remove the seal from the assembly.
  18. Remove the LH B-pillar margin rear door seal. See Seal - Door - Rear - Margin - B Pillar - LH (Remove and Replace).
  19. Remove the LH rear door inner belt seal. See Seal - Inner Belt - Rear Door - LH (Remove and Replace).
  20. Remove rear LH door glass from the door assembly.
  21. Remove the lower LH rear regulator mounting nuts (x2).
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  22. Remove the plug and butyl patch that cover the LH rear door regulator upper mounting nuts.
  23. Remove the LH rear door regulator upper mounting nuts (x2).
    10 Nm (7.4 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  24. Remove the screws (x3) that attach the LH rear window regulator motor to the door.
    3 Nm (2.2 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T30 socket
  25. Release the LH rear window regulator from the lower mounts.
  26. Collapse and partially maneuver the LH rear window regulator through the door opening enough to access the motor harness electrical connector.
  27. Disconnect the LH rear window regulator motor electrical connector.
  28. Remove the LH rear window regulator from the door.
  29. Release the locking tab, and then disconnect the LH rear door handle electrical connector.
  30. Remove the rubber grommets, and then push the wiring harness and grommet assembly into the LH rear door.
  31. Release the clips (x8) that attach the wiring harness to the LH rear door.
  32. Remove the wiring harness from the LH rear door.
  33. Apply tape to the LH rear door exterior handle, and then carefully cut around the door handle to protect the handle and door.
  34. Remove the nuts (x4) that attach the LH rear door exterior handle to the door assembly, and then remove the handle from the door.
    9 Nm (6.6 lbs-ft)

    Note
    Access the bottom left nut by reaching into the door opening.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  35. Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the LH rear door striker to the LH rear door, and then remove the striker from the door.
    22 Nm (16.2 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T40 socket
  36. With an assistant supporting the door, remove the hinge bolts (x4) that attach the LH rear door to the vehicle, and then remove the door from the vehicle.
    24 Nm (17.7 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket

Install

CAUTION
If using this procedure to install an unpainted part, make sure to apply seam sealer to all seams prior to installing and painting the part. Refer to the Collision Repair manual for more information.
  1. With an assistant, position the LH rear door onto the vehicle, and then install the hinge bolts (x4) that attach the door to the vehicle.
    24 Nm (17.7 lbs-ft)

    Adjust alignment as necessary before tightening the bolts.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket
  2. Position the LH rear door striker to the LH rear door, and then install the bolts (x2) that attach the striker to the door.
    22 Nm (16.2 lbs-ft)

    Adjust alignment as necessary before tightening the bolts.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T40 socket
  3. Position the LH rear door exterior handle into the door, and then install the nuts (x4) that attach the door handle to the door.
    9 Nm (6.6 lbs-ft)

    Use a door handle alignment tool to ensure the door handle is properly adjusted.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  4. Partially install the LH rear window regulator into the door opening with enough clearance to access the motor harness electrical connector.
  5. Secure the LH rear window regulator into the lower mounts.
  6. Install the LH rear door harness into the LH rear door.

    Note
    Slide regulator motor electrical connector between the regulator and door.
  7. Install the clips (x8) that attach the wiring harness to the LH rear door.
  8. Install the rubber grommets into the LH rear door.

    Slide the connector and harness into the B-pillar. Press firmly to ensure proper sealing.
  9. Connect the LH rear door handle electrical connector, and then engage the connector lock.
  10. Connect the LH rear window regulator motor electrical connector.
  11. Install the screws (x3) that attach the LH rear window regulator motor to the door.
    3 Nm (2.2 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T30 socket
  12. Install the LH rear door regulator upper mounting nuts (x2).
    10 Nm (7.4 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  13. Install the plug and butyl patch that cover the LH rear door regulator upper mounting nuts.
  14. Install and hand-tighten the lower nuts (x2) that attach the LH rear window regulator to the door assembly.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  15. Position the rear LH door glass into the LH rear door.
  16. Install the LH rear door inner belt seal. See Seal - Inner Belt - Rear Door - LH (Remove and Replace).
  17. Install the LH B-pillar margin rear door seal. See Seal - Door - Rear - Margin - B Pillar - LH (Remove and Replace).
  18. Position the LH rear door seal onto the door assembly, and then fasten the clips (x11) that attach the to the door assembly.
  19. Install the LH C-pillar margin seal onto the LH rear door assembly.
  20. Install the LH rear door margin seal onto the LH rear door assembly.
  21. Install and hand tighten the bolt that attaches the LH rear door glass to the rearmost regulator isolator clamp.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  22. Lower the LH rear door glass partially for access to foremost regulator isolator clamp.
  23. Install and hand tighten the bolt that attaches the LH rear door glass to the foremost regulator isolator clamp.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  24. Install the LH rear door speaker. See Speaker - Rear Door - LH (Remove and Replace).
  25. Position the LH rear door closeout panel onto the door, and then install the bolts (x6) that attach the closeout panel to the door..
    4 Nm (2.9 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 8 mm socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
    • 2 in extension
  26. Install the clips (x3) that attach the wiring harness onto the LH rear door closeout panel.
  27. Connect the LH rear door pressure sensor electrical connector, and then engage the connector lock.
  28. Connect the LH rear door handle controller electrical connector, and then engage the connector lock.
  29. Raise the LH rear window fully.
  30. Close the LH rear door.
  31. Check gap and flushness on the LH rear door.

    Measure 4x area to ensure all points are within specification. Refer to CVIS for current specifications.
  32. Check the gap between the LH rear window and LH B-pillar applique.

  33. Adjust the LH rear door to specification as necessary.

    Loosen the hinge and striker bolts to make adjustments. Torque the bolts after alignment.

    Window and door adjustment may need to be done simultaneously in order to ensure proper closure.
  34. Lower the LH rear window partially to access the rearmost regulator isolator clamp.
  35. Loosen the rearmost bolt that attaches the LH rear door glass to the regulator isolator clamp enough to maintain glass position but still allow for adjustment.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  36. Lower the LH rear window partially to access the rearmost regulator isolator clamp.
  37. Loosen the foremost bolt that attaches the LH rear door glass to the regulator isolator clamp enough to maintain glass position but still allow for adjustment.
    8 Nm (5.9 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  38. Adjust the LH rear door glass to achieve gap target, and then hand tighten foremost bolt.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  39. Raise the LH rear window partially to access the rearmost regulator isolator clamp.
  40. Adjust the LH rear door glass to achieve gap target, and then hand tighten rearmost bolt.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  41. Raise the LH rear window fully and close the LH rear door.
  42. Check the gap between the LH rear window and LH B-pillar applique.

  43. Check gap and flushness on the LH rear door.

  44. Open the LH rear door.
  45. Lower the LH rear window partially to access the rearmost regulator isolator clamp.
  46. Torque bolt that attaches the LH rear door glass to the regulator rearmost isolator clamp.
    8 Nm (5.9 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  47. Lower the LH rear door glass partially for access to foremost regulator isolator clamp.
  48. Torque the bolt that attaches the LH rear door glass to the foremost regulator isolator clamp.
    8 Nm (5.9 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  49. Raise the window fully.
  50. Close the LH rear door.
  51. Check the flushness between the LH rear door glass and LH B-pillar applique.

  52. Open the LH rear door.
  53. Loosen the lower LH rear regulator mounting nuts (x2) enough to maintain position but still allow adjustment.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  54. With assistance, adjust the LH rear door glass to achieve flushness target, and then hand tighten the lower LH rear regulator mounting nuts (x2).
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  55. Close the LH rear door.
  56. Check the flushness between the LH rear door glass and LH B-pillar applique.

  57. Open the LH rear door.
  58. Torque the lower LH rear regulator mounting nuts (x2).
    10 Nm (7.4 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  59. Lower the LH rear window fully.
  60. Disconnect the window switch special tool.
  61. Install plugs (x2) that cover the openings in LH rear door.
  62. Install the butyl patches that cover the openings in the LH rear door.
  63. Position the LH rear door grab handle onto the door assembly, and then install the bolts that attach the grab handle to the door.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 8 mm socket
  64. Install the LH rear door trim panel. See Panel - Door Trim - Rear - LH (Remove and Replace).
  65. Connect a laptop with Toolbox 3 to the vehicle.
  66. In Toolbox, click the Actions/Autodiag tab, and then search for "window".
  67. Click TEST-SELF_VCLEFT_REAR-L_CALIBRATE-WINDOWSearch for routine in Toolbox, and then click Run and allow the routine to complete.

    Click ‘X’ at top right of the window to close once complete.
  68. Press LH rear window switch down to second position to activate the auto-lower function, then raise window switch up to second position to activate auto-raise function.

    If window does not lower completely, repeat previous calibration steps.
  69. Disconnect Toolbox 3 from the vehicle.
