Applique - B-Pillar - LH (Remove and Replace)

Whenever a camera has been moved out of its original position (for example, a camera or windshield replacement), camera calibration data must be cleared using the vehicle touchscreen: Controls > Service > Camera Calibration > Clear Calibration.

Remove

  1. Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
  2. Open the LH rear door and lower the LH rear window.
  3. Put the vehicle in Service Mode via touchscreen. See Service Mode (Enable and Disable).
  4. Release the clips (x2) and tabs (x2) that attach the B-pillar applique cover.

    Use a plastic trim tool to release the upper clips, and then slide downwards to release the bottom tabs attaching the B-pillar applique.
  5. Release the door seals from the B-pillar applique.

  6. Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the B-pillar applique to the body.
    4 Nm (2.9 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T25 socket
  7. Pull down to release the B-pillar applique from the upper clips.

    CAUTION
    Camera electrical harness does not have much slack.
  8. Perform one of the following:
    • Vehicles with HW3: Disconnect the electrical connectors (x2) by holding the B-pillar applique away from the body, and then remove the B-pillar applique from the vehicle.
    • Vehicles with HW4:
      1. Pull the red locking tab outwards.
      2. Release the connector.
      3. Hold the LH applique away from the body.
      4. Carefully disconnect the camera electrical connectors, and then remove the B-pillar applique.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Pick Miniature Soft Grip, 90 degree tip, 6 in

  9. For newer vehicles with HW4 only - Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the camera to the B-pillar applique.
    0.6 Nm (5 lbs-in)

    Note
    Remove the camera bolts, and then wiggle the camera to clear the O-ring from the B-pillar applique.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • TP8 - Mini ratchet bit set (1450424-00-A)

Install

  1. For newer vehicles with HW4 only - Install the bolts (x2) that attach the camera to the B-pillar applique.

    Wiggle the camera O-ring through the B-pillar applique, and then fasten the bolts.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • TP8 - Mini ratchet bit set (1450424-00-A)
  2. Connect the camera electrical connectors (x2), and then install the B-pillar applique.

    Note
    Slide the B-pillar applique up into the clips, and then align to mounting holes for installation.

  3. Install the screws (x2) that attach the B-pillar applique to the body.
    4 Nm (2.9 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T25 socket
  4. Secure the clips (x2) and the tabs (x2) that attach the B-pillar applique to the body.

    Make sure all clips are fully seated.

    Secure the bottom tabs onto the B-pillar applique, and then engage the upper clips.
  5. Secure the door seals to the B-pillar applique.

    Use P-80 emulsion grease to assist with the installation of the seals.
  6. Reset the Driver Assistance System (DAS).
    1. Unlock the vehicle gateway. See Gateway (Unlock).
    2. On the touchscreen Service Mode menu, touch Driver Assist > Cameras > Reset DAS.
    3. On the touchscreen Cameras diagram, confirm that the Reset DAS button is highlighted green and that all DAS components display a green status light.

      Investigate and rectify any DAS components that display a red status light.
  7. Perform a Service CAN Redeploy.
    1. Connect a laptop with Toolbox 3 to the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect).
    2. In Toolbox, click the Actions tab, and then search for "Service-Redeploy".
    3. Click SERVICE CAN REDEPLOY, and then click Run and allow the routine to complete.

      Note
      Click the "X " at top right of the window to close once complete. The routine will state pass, but the update will continue to run in the background. The UI will show update progress.
    4. Re-establish connection to Toolbox 3.
  8. For vehicles with HW4 cameras only - Perform the following substeps:
    1. In Toolbox, click on the Actions tab, search for "calibration mode", and then Run the DAS Enter Calibration Mode routine.
    2. Click on the Actions tab, search for "camera connection test", and then Run the routine that corresponds with the camera that was replaced (e.g., Left B-Pillar Camera Connection Test or Front Camera Connection Test).

      The forward facing bi-camera assembly consists of two individual cameras that must be updated separately: Front Camera Connection Test and Fisheye Camera Connection Test. Make sure to update firmware on the cameras that were replaced.

      If 2 versions of the same routine are displayed, Run the routine that contains "-SCRIPT" in the "Path" field.
    3. In the Camera Connection Test prompt, change the "Timeout" to "100", and then Run the routine.

      This routine will update the camera's firmware and then confirm that the camera is connected.
  9. For vehicles with HW3 cameras only - Perform the following substeps:
    1. In Toolbox, click the Dashboards tab, and then search for "Service Tools".
    2. Click the DAS Image Capture button.
    3. Click the Clear Calibration Pillars button.

      Confirm successfully cleared calibration message.
    4. Click the Capture Image button.

      The image may take up to 2 minutes to display.
    5. Review the images and make sure all the cameras are able to capture an image correctly.
  10. Disconnect the laptop with Toolbox 3 from the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect).
  11. Raise the LH rear window and the LH rear door.
  12. Disable Service Mode. See Service Mode (Enable and Disable).
  13. Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
  14. Vehicle will need to be driven by customer to complete the calibration procedure. During this time, Autopilot functions will be temporarily unavailable.
