Retractor - Seatbelt - 1st Row - LH (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Open all the doors and lower all the windows.
  2. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  3. Move the front seats forward.
  4. Remove the LH and RH 2nd row seat outer bolster. See Bolster - Outer - Seat - 2nd Row - LH (Remove and Replace).
  5. Remove the 2nd row lower seat cushion. See Seat Cushion - Lower - 2nd Row (Remove and Replace).
  6. Remove the LH lower C-pillar trim. See Trim - C-Pillar - Lower - LH (Remove and Replace).
  7. Remove the LH middle A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Middle - LH (Remove and Replace).
  8. Remove the LH lower A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Lower - LH (Remove and Replace).
  9. Use a flathead screwdriver to rotate the lock mechanism on the front seat belt linkage counterclockwise to release it from the pretensioner, and then slide the linkage off the pretensioner and set it aside.

    DO NOT rotate clockwise to avoid damage to the mechanism.

  10. Remove the LH lower B-pillar trim. See Trim - B-Pillar - Lower - LH (Remove and Replace).
  11. Remove the LH upper B-pillar trim. See Trim - B-Pillar - Upper - LH (Remove and Replace).
  12. Disconnect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  13. Disconnect the LH 1st row seatbelt retractor connectors (x2).
  14. Remove the seatbelt intermediate web guide. See Seatbelt Intermediate Web Guide (Remove and Replace).
  15. Remove the bolt that attaches the LH 1st row seatbelt retractor to the upper B-pillar.
    25 Nm (18.4 lbs-ft)

    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T50 socket
  16. Remove and discard the bolt that attaches the LH 1st row seatbelt retractor to the lower B-pillar, and then remove the retractor from the vehicle.
    45 Nm (33.2 lbs-ft)

    • 13 mm socket

Install

  1. Position the LH 1st row seatbelt retractor to the lower B-pillar, and then install a new bolt that attaches the retractor to the vehicle.
    45 Nm (33.2 lbs-ft)

    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket
  2. Install the bolt that attaches the LH 1st row seatbelt retractor to the upper B-pillar.
    25 Nm (18.4 lbs-ft)

    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T50 socket
  3. Install the seatbelt intermediate web guide. See Seatbelt Intermediate Web Guide (Remove and Replace).
  4. Connect the LH 1st row seatbelt retractor connectors (x2).
  5. Connect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  6. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  7. Install the LH upper B-pillar trim. See Trim - B-Pillar - Upper - LH (Remove and Replace).
  8. Install the LH lower B-pillar trim. See Trim - B-Pillar - Lower - LH (Remove and Replace).
  9. Install the LH lower C-pillar trim. See Trim - C-Pillar - Lower - LH (Remove and Replace).
  10. Fold the LH 2nd row seat to the upright position.
  11. Install the 2nd row lower seat cushion. See Seat Cushion - Lower - 2nd Row (Remove and Replace).
  12. Install the LH and RH 2nd row seat outer bolster. See Bolster - Outer - Seat - 2nd Row - LH (Remove and Replace).
  13. Install the LH lower A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Lower - LH (Remove and Replace).
  14. Install the LH middle A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Middle - LH (Remove and Replace).
  15. Install the front seat belt linkage to the pretensioner:
    1. Make sure the lock screw is in the horizontal position. If the lock screw is not in the horizontal position, follow the release instructions to unlock it.
    2. Verify there are no twists in the seat belt from the upper B-pillar trim to the pretensioner.
    3. Install the linkage onto the pretensioner cable.

      The lock screw will rotate back to the locked position.
    4. Perform a firm pull test on the seat belt with at least 15 pounds of force.
  16. Move the front seats to the original positions.
  17. Raise all the windows and close all the doors.
