Gap Hider - Steering Column - Upper (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Remove the LH mid A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Middle - LH (Remove and Replace).
  2. Remove the LH instrument panel end cap. See End Cap - Instrument Panel - LH (Remove and Replace).
  3. Move the steering column fully rearward and fully down.
  4. Remove the RH mid A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Middle - LH (Remove and Replace).
  5. Remove the RH instrument panel end cap. See End Cap - Instrument Panel - LH (Remove and Replace).
  6. Remove the touchscreen assembly, but do not remove the display mechanism from the touchscreen housing. See Touchscreen (HW3) (Remove and Replace).
  7. Remove the main instrument panel decor. See Decor - Instrument Panel - Main (Remove and Replace).
  8. Remove the driver airbag. See Airbag - Driver (Remove and Replace).
  9. Remove the steering yoke/wheel. See Steering Yoke/Wheel (Remove and Replace).
  10. Release the clips (x6) that attach the steering column upper shroud to the lower shroud, and then remove the upper shroud from the assembly.

    Note
    Pull the shroud upward to release the clips.
  11. Release the clips (x4) that attach the upper steering column gap hider to the vehicle, and then remove the gap hider from the vehicle.

Install

  1. Position the upper steering column gap hider into the vehicle, and then secure the clips (x4) that attach the gap hider to the vehicle.
  2. Position the steering column upper shroud to the steering column, align the clips and datums, and then press the upper shroud downward to install it onto the lower shroud.
  3. Install the steering yoke/wheel. See Steering Yoke/Wheel (Remove and Replace).
  4. Install the driver airbag. See Airbag - Driver (Remove and Replace).
  5. Install the main instrument panel decor. See Decor - Instrument Panel - Main (Remove and Replace).
  6. Install the touchscreen, reconnect LV power, and install the rear underhood apron. See Touchscreen (HW3) (Remove and Replace).
  7. Move the steering column back to the original position.
  8. Install the LH and RH instrument panel end caps. See End Cap - Instrument Panel - LH (Remove and Replace).
  9. Install the LH and RH mid A-pillar trims. See Trim - A-Pillar - Middle - LH (Remove and Replace).
