Hose - Outlet - Radiator (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Raise and support vehicle.

    Prepare to raise vehicle, Set air suspension to "Jack Mode", Position lift arm pads on vehicle jack pads.
  2. Place vehicle in service mode with touchscreen.

    Select vehicle's badge icon in Controls > Software for four seconds and then type "service" into dialog box.
  3. Remove the underhood storage unit. See .
  4. Power off vehicle from center display.

    Via Controls > Safety & Security > Power Off.
  5. Disconnect LV battery connector and First Responder Loop.

    2x connectors, Lift up and release green locking tab, Pull black connector lock outwards to release connection.
  6. Raise vehicle fully and lower lift onto locks.

    Set vehicle to comfortable working height, Make sure there's an audible click of the locks on both sides before lowering, otherwise vehicle may tilt to the side.
  7. Remove clips securing front aero shield.

    5x push clips.
  8. Remove bolts securing front aero shield and remove from vehicle.

    9x bolts, 10mm, 6 Nm.
  9. Lower vehicle until tires are touching the ground.

    Raise lift off locks, then hold lock release lever to keep locks free while vehicle is lowered.
  10. Place coolant catcher below front of vehicle.

    Position to catch all coolant loss.
  11. Place absorbent material under on top of front drive unit heat exchanger below supermanifold.
  12. Release PT Radiator Return Hose from the Supermanifold.

    1x hose clip, 2x plugs, Plug both ends.
  13. Release PT Radiator Return Hose from radiator return pipe.

    1x hose clip, 2x plugs, Plug both ends, Use absorbent material to cover connectors as required, Remove from vehicle.

Install

  1. Secure PT Radiator Return Hose to radiator return pipe.

    1x hose clip, Remove any plugs, Perform push-pull-push test.
  2. Secure PT Radiator Return Hose to the Supermanifold.

    1x hose clip, Remove any plugs, Perform push-pull-push test to make sure hose is fully seated.
  3. Remove absorbent material from under supermanifold.

    Clean away excess residue as needed.
  4. Raise vehicle fully and lower lift onto locks.

    Set vehicle to comfortable working height, Make sure there's an audible click of the locks on both sides before lowering, otherwise vehicle may tilt to the side.
  5. Remove coolant catcher from under vehicle.
  6. Clean coolant residue from vehicle.
  7. Apply Loctite 222 onto front aero shield bolts and install fasteners securing front aero shield to vehicle.

    9x bolts, 10mm, 6 Nm.
  8. Install clips securing front aero shield.

    5x push clips.
  9. Lower vehicle fully.

    Raise lift off locks, then hold lock release lever to keep locks free while vehicle is lowered.
  10. Remove coolant bottle cap.
  11. Fill coolant to the proper level.

    Ensure that the fluid level filled to the Max line.
  12. Connect First Responder Loop and LV battery connector.

    2x connectors Secure FRL first, Seat LV battery connection and push black connector lock inwards to secure, Engage green locking tab when fully seated.
  13. Access thermal system routines using the UI.

    Select quick controls > Service mode > Diagnostics > Thermal, Authorize routines by holding right turn signal, depressing brake pedal for 10 seconds with key on phone dock.
  14. Select 'Start' button at 'Start Coolant Air Purge' using the UI and ‘TEST_VCFRONT_X_THERMAL-COOLANT-AIR-PURGESearch for routine in ToolboxCoolant Air PurgeThermal / Coolant System - Coolant Purge Starthv / Front Drive Inverter Replacement - Coolant Air Purgehv / Rear Drive Inverter Replacement - Coolant Air Purgehv / Rear Left Drive Inverter Replacement - Coolant Air Purgehv / Rear Right Drive Inverter Replacement - Coolant Air Purgehv / Front Drive Unit Replacement - Coolant Air Purgehv / Rear Drive Unit Replacement - Coolant Air PurgeThermal / Actions - Coolant Purge Stop or Coolant Purge Start - SUCCESS' window will appear.

    Coolant pumps will be audible, Test lasts approximately 10 mins, Putting vehicle into drive state will stop this routine, Monitor levels as required, Select ‘X’ at top left of window to close once complete.
  15. Inspect coolant level and top off as necessary.

    Ensure that the fluid level is at the Max line, Top off fluid as required.
  16. Install coolant bottle cap.
  17. Exit Service Mode.

    Controls>Software select Exit Service Mode button.

  19. Remove vehicle from lift.
