Pedal Assembly (Remove and Replace)

- 2023-12-15 - Removed brake stiffness routine.
Remove
- Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
- Open the hood.
- Move the driver seat fully rearwards.
- Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
- Disconnect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
- Remove the LH footwell cover. See Cover - Footwell - Driver (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the front passenger knee airbag as an assembly from the instrument panel, but do not separate the airbag from the cover. See Knee Airbag - Front Passenger (Remove and Replace).

Remove the driver floor jumper air
duct.

Remove the cotter clip from the clevis
pin on the pedal assembly, and remove the clevis pin from the brake pedal
assembly.

Disconnect the accelerator pedal
electrical connector.
CAUTIONDO NOT push down on the red locking tab. Pull the tab away from the connector until the connector is unlocked, and then continue pulling to release the connector..

Disconnect the LH body harness
electrical connector from the brake switch.

Release the clip that attaches the LH
body harness to the pedal assembly.

Remove the brake switch from the pedal
assembly.
NoteRotate 45 degrees clockwise to release.NoteReplace the brake switch if it is damaged during removal.

Release the front carpet from the
pedal assembly, and then fold it down.

Remove and discard the nuts (x5) that
attach the pedal assembly to the vehicle.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 13 mm socket
NoteDiscard the nuts after removal. -
Remove the pedal assembly from the
vehicle.
NoteRotate on edge to clear the link to the brake booster.
Install

Install the pedal assembly to the
vehicle.
NoteRotate on edge to seat the pedal assembly around the link to the brake booster.

Using new nyloc nuts (x5), attach the
pedal assembly to the vehicle.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 13 mm socket
NoteThe brake booster may need to be pulled inward to seat the studs. -
Fasten the clip that attaches the
front carpet to the pedal assembly, and then fold the carpet down.

Install the brake switch to the pedal
assembly.
NoteRotate 45 degrees counter-clockwise to secure.

Fasten the clip that attaches the LH
body harness to the pedal assembly.

Connect the LH body harness electrical
connector to the brake switch.

Connect the accelerator pedal
electrical connector.
CAUTIONPush the red locking tab into the connector to engage the locking mechanism. DO NOT push down or pull up on the red locking tab.

Align brake pedal to the brake booster
rod, and then install the clevis pin and clip to the brake pedal assembly.

Install the driver floor jumper air
duct.
- Install the LH knee air bag. See Knee Airbag - Driver (Remove and Replace).
- Install the LH footwell cover. See Cover - Footwell - Driver (Remove and Replace).
- Connect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
- Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
- Restore the driver seat back to its original position.
- Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
