ECU - Trailer Hitch (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Open the LH front door.
  2. Lower the LH front window.
  3. Raise and support the vehicle. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  4. Set the vehicle to a comfortable working height, then lower it onto the lift locks.

    CAUTION
    Make sure there's an audible click of the locks on both sides before lowering. Otherwise, the vehicle may tilt to the side.
  5. Remove the tow hitch cover screws (x2) and disconnect the tabs (x10). Remove the tow hitch cover.
  6. Disconnect the connectors (x2) from the trailer hitch ECU.
  7. Remove the 10 mm retaining nut, then remove the trailer hitch ECU.

Install

  1. Install the trailer hitch ECU, then torque the 10 mm nut.
    6 Nm (4.4 lbs-ft)
  2. Connect the trailer hitch ECU connectors (x2).
  3. Install the tow hitch cover. Tighten the captive screws (x2) and engage the tabs (x10).
  4. Fully lower the vehicle.
  5. Remove the vehicle from lift. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  6. Raise the LH front window.
  7. Close the LH front door.
