This procedure describes work that is
specific to 2025+ Model S.
Remove
- Remove the instrument panel décor. See Decor - Instrument Panel (2025+) (Remove and Replace).

Remove the glove box assembly. See
Glove Box (Remove and Replace).
NoteIt's not necessary to remove the outboard and inboard shape memory alloy (SMA) locator plates and the SMA assembly from the glove box assembly.
- Remove the front passenger instrument panel duct. See Duct - Instrument Panel - Front Passenger (Remove and Replace).

Disconnect the front passenger airbag
electrical connectors (x3).
NotePull down the spring loaded locks simultaneously to release the airbag connectorsNoteThe amount of connector may vary on build.

Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the
instrument panel carrier to the cross car beam.
TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket
- Remove the LH and RH upper A-pillar trims. See Trim - A-Pillar - Upper - LH (2025+) (Remove and Replace).

Release the clip that attaches the
instrument panel decor electrical harness to the LH side of the instrument panel
sub-assembly.

Remove the screws (x3) that attach the
LH lower instrument panel to the vehicle.
TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Torx T20 socket

Remove the screws (x7) that attach the
center lower instrument panel to the vehicle.
Note1 screw connects the instrument panel ground harness.NoteIf using part revision 1562948-70-D on a non-HW4 vehicle, add ground strap 1679240-00-A to the aero lens assembly.TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Torx T20 socket

Remove the screws (x3) that attach the
RH lower instrument panel to the vehicle.
TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Torx T20 socket
-
Disconnect the instrument panel trim
electrical connector, and then remove the clips (x2) that attach the harness to the
vehicle.
-
Disconnect the instrument cluster
electrical connector, and then remove the clip that attaches the harness to the
vehicle.
-
With an assistant, remove the screws
(x9) that attach the IP sub-assembly to the IP carrier, and remove the instrument panel
sub-assembly from the vehicle.
NoteSlide the instrument panel sub-assembly rearwards, and then lift the assembly up from the instrument panel carrier.NoteMake sure that the air wave vents and front passenger airbag are clear of the lower instrument panel assembly.NoteRemove the instrument panel sub-assembly out through the RH front door.

Remove the instrument panel windshield
seal using a plastic trim tool.

Remove the screws (x9) that attach the
instrument panel speaker grille to the instrument panel sub-assembly.
TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Torx T20 socket
-
Lift up to disengage, and then remove
the instrument panel speaker grille from the instrument panel sub-assembly.
Install
-
Engage the leading edge of the
instrument panel speaker grille into the instrument panel sub-assembly, and then lower
the grille into place.
-
Install the screws (x9) that attach
the instrument panel speaker grille to the instrument panel sub-assembly.
3 Nm (2.2 lbs-ft)TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:- Torx T20 socket

Install the instrument panel
windshield seal.
NoteClean the windshield seal with an Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) wipe, and then allow 1 minute to dry before continuing to the next step.

With an assistant, slide the
instrument panel sub-assembly into vehicle, and then install the screws (x9) that attach
the IP sub-assembly to the IP carrier.
Notex4 datums.NoteMake sure that the front passenger airbag and the driver vent assembly have clearance past the lower instrument panel assembly.

Connect the instrument panel trim
electrical connector, and then install the clip that attaches the harness to the
vehicle.

Connect the instrument cluster
electrical connector, and then install the clip that attaches the harness to the
vehicle.
-
Install the clip that attaches the
instrument panel decor electrical harness to the LH instrument panel sub-assembly.
-
Position the lower instrument panel
assembly onto the instrument panel sub-assembly.
-
Install the screws (x3) that attach
the LH lower instrument panel to the vehicle.
3 Nm (2.2 lbs-ft)TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:- Torx T20 socket

Install the screws (x7) that attach
the center lower instrument panel to the vehicle.

Install the screws (x3) that attach
the RH lower instrument panel to the vehicle.
3 Nm (2.2 lbs-ft)TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:- Torx T20 socket
- Install the LH and RH upper A-pillar trims. See Trim - A-Pillar - Upper - LH (Remove and Replace).

Install the bolts (x2) that attach the
instrument panel carrier to the cross car beam.
6 Nm (4.4 lbs-ft)TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:- 10 mm socket

Connect the front passenger airbag
electrical connectors (x3).
NoteMake sure that all connectors are fully secured.
- Install the front passenger instrument panel duct. See Duct - Instrument Panel - Front Passenger (Remove and Replace).
- Install the glove box. See Glove Box (Remove and Replace).

Install the instrument panel decor.
