Headlights - Adjust - NA (Tool Method)

Procedure

  1. Park the vehicle on a level surface.
  2. Make sure that all 4 tires are inflated to specification.
  3. Turn on the headlights.
  4. Clean the headlights.
  5. On the touchscreen, touch Controls > Suspension > Standard to set the vehicle ride height to Standard.
  6. On the touchscreen, touch Controls > Service > Jack Mode to enable Jack Mode.
  7. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  8. Remove the LH and RH underhood aprons. See Underhood Apron - LH (Remove and Replace).
  9. Position the headlight tester tool ~11 in. (30 cm) from the front of the LH headlight lens.
  10. Adjust the height of the headlight tester tool to ~27.5 in. (70 cm) above the ground to align with the center point of the headlight.
  11. Connect the headlight tester tool to an electrical outlet, and then turn on the headlight tester tool.
  12. Adjust the knobs on the base of the headlight tester tool until the tool is leveled, as indicated by the bubble gauge on the tool.

    Note
    The bubble must be entirely inside of the center ring in order to properly align the headlights.
  13. Turn on the alignment laser near the top of the tool, and then rotate the tool as necessary to align the laser with the base of both hood struts.
  14. On the headlight tester tool, select Test US, then select Applications >Free Test.
  15. On the headlight tester tool, select Headlight, and then use the + or - buttons to change the Headlight type to "VOR".
  16. On the headlight tester tool, select Light, and then use the + or - buttons to change the Light type to "LED".
  17. Select "OK", and then "OK" again to proceed past the fog light settings.
  18. On the headlight tester tool, select Laser to turn on the headlight laser guide.
  19. On the headlight tester tool, select Left low beam, and then select Low beam near the bottom of the screen.

    Note
    The "L" and "R" indicators at the bottom of the screen are reversed. For example, "L" is on the right side and "R" is on the left side.
  20. Adjust the headlight laser guide crosshair to line up with the vertical and horizontal marks on the LH headlight.

    Or place a piece of paper against the LH headlight, and then adjust the tool to place the headlight laser guide crosshair over the brightest spot on the paper.
  21. On the headlight tester tool, select Laser to turn off the headlight laser guide.
  22. Adjust the LH low beam level using the headlight adjustment screw. Target 0.00" +/- 1.0"
  23. On the headlight tester tool, select Save to record the results.
  24. Repeat steps 9 through 23for the RH headlight.
  25. SelectSave again to view the test results.
  26. Install the LH and RH underhood aprons. See Underhood Apron - LH (Remove and Replace).
  27. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  28. Move the headlight tester tool away from the vehicle and close the hood.
  29. On the touchscreen, touch Controls > Service > Jack Mode to disable Jack Mode.
