Module - Battery Controller (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  2. Disconnect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  3. Remove the LH underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - LH (Remove and Replace).
  4. Remove the LH shock tower cover. See Cover - Shock Tower - LH (Remove and Replace).
  5. Remove the LH wiper arm. See Wiper Arm - LH (Remove and Replace).
  6. Repeat step 3 through step 5 on the RH side of the vehicle.
  7. Remove the cowl screen panel. See Panel - Cowl Screen (Remove and Replace).
  8. Remove the bolts and nut that attach the LH V-brace to the vehicle.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm deep socket
    • 4 in extension
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
  9. Remove the bolt that attaches the battery controller module ground cable to the vehicle.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm deep socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
    • External Torx E10 5-Lobe
  10. Use a clip prytool to release the clip that attaches the harness to the battery controller module.
  11. Remove the bolt and nut that attach the battery controller module to the vehicle and tilt the controller for access.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm deep socket
    • 6 in extension
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
  12. Use a plastic trim tool to disconnect the electrical connectors (x5) from the battery controller module.
  13. Use a clip prytool to release the clip that attaches the harness to the battery controller module.
  14. Remove the battery controller module from the vehicle.

Install

  1. Position the battery controller module into the vehicle.
  2. Fasten the clip that attaches the harness to the battery controller module.
  3. Connect the electrical connectors (x5) to the battery controller module.
  4. Fasten the clip that attaches the harness to the battery controller module.
  5. Install the bolt that attaches the battery controller module ground cable to the vehicle.
    9 Nm (6.6 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm deep socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
    • External Torx E10 5-Lobe
  6. Install the bolt and nut that attach the battery controller module to the vehicle and tilt the module for access.
    10 Nm (7.4 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm deep socket
    • 6 in extension
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
  7. Install the bolts and nut that attach the LH V-brace to the vehicle.
    18 Nm (13.3 lbs-ft)
    9 Nm (6.6 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm deep socket
    • 4 in extension
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
  8. Install the cowl screen panel. See Panel - Cowl Screen (Remove and Replace).
  9. Install the LH wiper arm. See Wiper Arm - LH (Remove and Replace).
  10. Install the LH shock tower cover. See Cover - Shock Tower - LH (Remove and Replace).
  11. Install the LH underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - LH (Remove and Replace).
  12. Repeat step 9 through step 11 on the RH side of the vehicle.
  13. Connect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  14. Perform a software reinstall. See Firmware Reinstall - Touchscreen or Firmware Reinstall - Toolbox.
  15. Adjust the headlights. See Headlights - Adjust - NA (Tool Method) or Headlights - Adjust (Global) (Tool Method).
  16. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
