Latch - Seat Back - 2nd Row Seat - LH (Remove and Replace)

Note
Do not perform this procedure on the RH side of the vehicle. The RH seat back latch is not a serviceable part.

Remove

  1. Open LH doors and lower the LH windows.
  2. Move driver seat forward.
  3. Remove the LH 2nd row seat back panel. See Back Panel – 2nd Row Seat – LH (Remove and Replace)
  4. Remove the LH 2nd row seat back side cover. See Cover - Side - Seat Back - 2nd Row - LH (Remove and Replace).
  5. Remove the LH 2nd row headrest. See Headrest - 2nd Row - LH (Remove and Replace)
  6. Remove the LH 2nd row backrest headrest guides.

    Note
    Lift the headrest guide locking tabs and slide headrest guide out of frame assembly. Guide with adjustment button installed inboard.
  7. Disconnect the LH 2nd row backrest harness, and then release the clip that attaches the harness to the backrest.
  8. Fold LH 2nd row seat to the vertical position, but do not latch the seat back.
  9. Release the clips (x4) that attach the LH 2nd row backrest cushion to the seat assembly.
  10. Remove the clips (x3) that attach the LH 2nd row seat shoulder plastic trim to the seat assembly.
  11. Release the clips (x5) that attach the LH 2nd row shoulder plastic trim to the frame assembly, and then partially release the shoulder plastic trim and set the trim aside.

    Note
    Ensure the fold switch harness and connector are not excessively pulled. Use a plastic trim tool or shop towel to hold the trim away from the seat frame.
  12. Pull the red tab to release the connector lock, and then disconnect the LH 2nd row seat seat back latch electrical connector.
  13. Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the LH 2nd row seat seat back latch to the seat assembly, and then remove the latch from the vehicle.
    20 Nm (14.7 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket

Install

  1. Position the LH 2nd row seat seat back latch onto the seat assembly, and then install the bolts (x2) that attach the latch to the seat.
    20 Nm (14.7 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket
  2. Connect the LH 2nd row seat seat back latch electrical connector, and then engage the connector lock.
  3. Position the LH 2nd row shoulder plastic trim to the seat assembly, and then fasten the clips (x5) that attach the trim to the seat assembly.

    Note
    Remove the plastic trim tool or shop towel. Ensure the fold switch harness and connector are properly placed.
  4. Install the clips (x3) that attach the LH 2nd row seat shoulder plastic trim to the seat assembly.
  5. Install the clips (x4) that attach the LH 2nd row backrest cushion to the seat assembly.
  6. Fold LH 2nd row seat to the down position.
  7. Install the LH 2nd row backrest LH and RH headrest guides.

    Note
    Slide the guides into the backrest frame. Ensure the headrest guide locking tabs are fully engaged. Guide with adjustment button installed inboard.
  8. Install the LH 2nd row headrest. See Headrest - 2nd Row - LH (Remove and Replace).
  9. Install the LH 2nd row seat back side cover. See Cover - Side - Seat Back - 2nd Row - LH (Remove and Replace).
  10. Install the LH 2nd row seat back panel. See Back Panel – 2nd Row Seat – LH (Remove and Replace)
  11. Move driver seat to original position.
  12. Raise the LH windows and close the LH doors.
