Pipe Assembly - Front - Brake (Remove and Replace)

Remove
- Open the LH front door.
- Lower the LH front window.
- Raise and support the vehicle. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
- Remove all four wheels. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).

Lower vehicle partially and set lift onto locks.
NoteRaise the lift off locks, and then hold lock release lever to keep locks free while vehicle is lowered. Set vehicle to comfortable working height.
- Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
- On the touchscreen, touch .
- Disconnect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
- Remove the front underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Front (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the LH and RH wiper arms. See Wiper Arm - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the LH and RH shock tower covers. See Cover - Shock Tower - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the cowl screen panel. See Panel - Cowl Screen (Remove and Replace).

Remove the bolts (x3) that attach the LV battery to the vehicle, and then move the battery aside.
NoteTake note of datums (x2) and carefully move battery aside.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 4 in extension
- 10 mm socket
- Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
- Ratcheting combination wrench flex head 10 mm
- Remove the LH shock tower V brace. See V Brace - Shock Tower - LH (Remove and Replace).

Clean the area around the brake fluid reservoir, and then remove the brake reservoir cap.

Remove brake fluid from the brake reservoir.
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Oil catch/measure kit - 1541474-00-B

Install the brake reservoir cap.

Disconnect the air quality sensor harness connector.

Release the tabs (x2) that attach the HEPA filter assembly cover to the vehicle.
CAUTIONBe cautious and do not damage the mounting clips. Maneuver the cover forward and upwards in front of the V-brace cross member.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Plastic trim tool
- Remove the battery controller module. See Module - Battery Controller (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the LH front wheel arch liner. See Wheel Arch Liner - Front - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the brake hydraulic control unit. See Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) - Brake (Remove and Replace).

Disconnect the brake booster ECU connector.
NoteRelease the red locking tab, depress the black tab, and then rotate the lever to release the connector.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Pocket screwdriver

Place shop rags underneath the front brake pipe junction block to catch any fluid lost.

Remove the nut that attaches the rear end of the LH brake junction to jounce pipe to the junction block, and then remove the pipe from the junction block.
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Ratcheting combination wrench flex head 12mm

Remove the nut that attaches the rear end of the RH brake junction to jounce pipe to the junction block, and then remove the pipe from the junction block.
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Ratcheting combination wrench flex head 12mm

Remove the nut that attaches the front junction block to the body.
NoteUse a pick up tool to avoid dropping nut.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm deep socket
- Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
- Pick Up Tool, Magnetic Flexible 21 in long

Carefully remove the brake front pipe assembly from the vehicle.
CAUTIONDo not bend the pipe assembly during removal.NoteManeuver the LH and RH lines around the junction block during removal as needed. Release the junction block from the body studs (x2), and then route around the steering column.
Install

Position the front brake pipe assembly on the vehicle.
NoteManeuver the LH and RH lines around the junction block during installation as needed. Route the junction block around the steering column, and then position on the body studs (x2).

Install the nut that attaches the front junction block to the body.NoteUse a pick up tool to avoid dropping nut.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm deep socket
- Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
- Pick Up Tool, Magnetic Flexible 21 in long
- Ratchet/torque wrench

Install the nut that attaches the rear end of the RH brake junction to jounce pipe to the junction block.NoteClean the pipe with brake cleaner before installation as necessary.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- ¼ in to 3/8 in adapter
- 3/8 in open crowfoot socket 12mm
- Ratcheting combination wrench flex head 12mm
- Ratchet/torque wrench

Install the nut that attaches the rear end of the LH brake junction to jounce pipe to the junction block.NoteClean the pipe with brake cleaner before installation as necessary.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- ¼ in to 3/8 in adapter
- 3/8 in open crowfoot socket 12mm
- Ratcheting combination wrench flex head 12mm
- Ratchet/torque wrench

Remove the shop rags from underneath the front brake pipe junction block.

Connect the brake booster ECU connector.
NoteAlign the connector, rotate the lever to fully seat, and then secure the red locking tab.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Pocket screwdriver
- Install the brake hydraulic control unit. See Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) - Brake (Remove and Replace).
- Install the LH front wheel arch liner. See Wheel Arch Liner - Front - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Install the battery controller module. See Module - Battery Controller (Remove and Replace).

Install the tabs (x2) that attach the HEPA filter assembly cover to the vehicle.
NoteManeuver the cover downward and under the V-brace cross member. Fully engage the seal and locking tabs.

Connect the air quality sensor harness connector.
- Install the LH shock tower V brace. See V Brace - Shock Tower - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Install the cowl screen panel. See Panel - Cowl Screen (Remove and Replace).

Install the bolts (x3) that attach the LV battery to the vehicle.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 4 in extension
- 10 mm socket
- Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
- Ratcheting combination wrench flex head 10 mm
- Ratchet/torque wrench
- Install the LH and RH wiper arms. See Wiper Arm - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Install the LH and RH shock tower covers. See Cover - Shock Tower - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Connect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).

Clean the area around the brake fluid reservoir, and then remove brake reservoir cap.
- Perform a brake fluid flush. Brake Fluid Bleed/Flush (Remove and Replace).
- Install the front underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Front (Remove and Replace).
- Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).

Raise the vehicle partially and lower onto locks.
NoteSet the vehicle to a comfortable working height. Make sure there's an audible click of the locks on both sides before lowering, otherwise vehicle may tilt to the side.
- Install all four wheels. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
- Lower the vehicle. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
- Raise the LH front window.
- Close the LH front door.

Perform a post-repair validation test drive and ensure proper brake pedal feel and performance.
Important: Add correction code 00040100 to account for time.
