Instrument Panel - Lower (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Open the LH and RH front doors.
  2. Lower the LH and RH front windows.
  3. Move the driver and front passenger seats fully rearward.
  4. Remove the LH and RH middle A-pillar trims. See Trim - A-Pillar - Middle - LH (Remove and Replace).
  5. Remove the LH and RH instrument panel end caps. See End Cap - Instrument Panel - LH (Remove and Replace).
  6. Adjust the steering column fully rearward and fully down.
  7. Open the hood.
  8. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  9. Disconnect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  10. Remove the center console phone dock as an assembly, but do not remove the inductive charger from the phone dock. See Phone Dock - Center Console (Remove and Replace).
  11. Remove the instrument panel service panel as an assembly, but do not remove the cabin temperature sensor fan from the service panel. See Service Panel - Instrument Panel (Remove and Replace).
  12. Remove the touchscreen as an assembly, but do not remove the display mechanism from the touchscreen. See Touchscreen (HW3) (Remove and Replace).
  13. Remove the main instrument panel decor. See Decor - Instrument Panel - Main (Remove and Replace).
  14. Release the tabs (x4) that attach the instrument panel closeout panel to the instrument panel, and then remove the closeout panel from the vehicle.
  15. Remove the LH instrument panel middle trim. See Trim - Middle - Instrument Panel - LH (Remove and Replace).
  16. Remove the RH instrument panel middle trim. See Trim - Middle - Instrument Panel - RH (Remove and Replace).
  17. Remove the passenger footwell cover. See Cover - Footwell - Passenger (Remove and Replace).
  18. Remove the front passenger knee airbag as an assembly from the instrument panel, but do not separate the airbag from the cover. See Knee Airbag - Front Passenger (Remove and Replace).
  19. Remove the glove box. See Glove Box (Remove and Replace).
  20. Remove the driver footwell cover. See Cover - Footwell - Driver (Remove and Replace).
  21. Remove the driver knee airbag as an assembly from the instrument panel, but do not separate the airbag from the cover. See Knee Airbag - Driver (Remove and Replace).
  22. Remove the driver airbag. See Airbag - Driver (Remove and Replace).
  23. Remove the steering yoke. See Steering Yoke/Wheel (Remove and Replace).
  24. Remove the screws (x8) and release the tabs (x8) that attach the lower instrument panel to the instrument panel, and then remove the panel from the vehicle.
    3 Nm (2.2 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T20 socket

    Note
    Release the instrument panel lower assembly, and then carefully guide over the upper steering column.

Install

  1. Fasten the tabs (x8), and then install the screws (x8) that attach the lower instrument panel to the instrument panel.
    3 Nm (2.2 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T20 socket

    Note
    Guide it over the upper steering column.

    Engage all tabs before installing the screws.
  2. Install the steering yoke. See Steering Yoke/Wheel (Remove and Replace).
  3. Install the driver airbag. See Airbag - Driver (Remove and Replace).
  4. Install the driver knee airbag. See Knee Airbag - Driver (Remove and Replace).
  5. Install the driver footwell cover. See Cover - Footwell - Driver (Remove and Replace).
  6. Install the glove box. See Glove Box (Remove and Replace).
  7. Install the front passenger knee airbag. See Knee Airbag - Front Passenger (Remove and Replace).
  8. Install the passenger footwell cover. See Cover - Footwell - Passenger (Remove and Replace).
  9. Install the RH instrument panel middle trim. See Trim - Middle - Instrument Panel - RH (Remove and Replace).
  10. Install the LH instrument panel middle trim. See Trim - Middle - Instrument Panel - LH (Remove and Replace).
  11. Fasten the tabs (x4) that attach the instrument panel closeout panel to the instrument panel.
  12. Install the main instrument panel decor. See Decor - Instrument Panel - Main (Remove and Replace).
  13. Install the touchscreen. See Touchscreen (HW3) (Remove and Replace).
  14. Install the instrument panel service panel. See Service Panel - Instrument Panel (Remove and Replace).
  15. Install the center console phone dock. See Phone Dock - Center Console (Remove and Replace).
  16. Connect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  17. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  18. Adjust the steering column back to its original position.
  19. Install the LH and RH instrument panel end caps. See End Cap - Instrument Panel - LH (Remove and Replace).
  20. Install the LH and RH middle A-pillar trims. See Trim - A-Pillar - Middle - LH (Remove and Replace).
  21. Restore the driver and front passenger seats back to their original position.
  22. Raise the LH and RH front windows.
  23. Close the LH and RH front door.
