Warning
If using this procedure to retrofit a steering wheel/yoke and change the configuration, DO NOT reinstall the old driver airbag, as it is incompatible. The driver airbag MUST be replaced with a new airbag that is compatible with the new steering wheel/yoke type. Confirm that the correct airbag is installed based on its part number. In addition, the airbag for a steering wheel has a label that identifies it as “ROUND – DRIVER”. The airbag for a steering yoke does NOT have a similar label. Refer to the associated Service Document for explicit instructions on how to perform a steering wheel retrofit.
