Fascia Assembly - Front (HW3) (Remove and Replace)

  • 2023-08-24: Added steps to transfer the front license plate brackets from the old fascia to the new fascia.

Remove

  1. Remove the front license plate base bracket and front license plate molding painted bracket from the old front fascia so that they can be installed on the replacement fascia in a later step. See Base Bracket - License Plate - Front (Remove and Replace).
  2. Remove the front fascia assembly from the vehicle. See Fascia Assembly - Front (Remove and Install).
  3. Disconnect the front parking sensor electrical connectors (x6).

    DO NOT push down on the red locking tab. Pull the tab away from the connector until the connector is unlocked, and then continue pulling to release the connector.
  4. Disconnect the LH and RH headlight electrical connectors.

  5. Remove LV jumper wires (x2) from the tow hook cover.

    Squeeze the retaining tabs together and gently remove the wires from the cover.
  6. Disconnect the front BLE assembly electrical connector.

  7. Disconnect the radar heater electrical connector.

    Note
    The radar heater grid is a single use component. A new heater grid must be installed when replacing the front fascia.
  8. Disconnect the pedestrian warning speaker electrical connector, and then release the clip that attaches the warning speaker to the front fascia.

    DO NOT push down on the red locking tab. Pull the tab away from the connector until the connector is unlocked, and then continue pulling to release the connector.
  9. Release clips (x10) and hooks (x2) that attach the front fascia harness to the front fascia, and then remove the harness from the assembly.
  10. Remove the parking sensors (x6) from the front fascia assembly.

    Note the location of the sensors on the front fascia. Sensors S1 and S6 (arrowed in image) are different from S2-S5 (circled in image).
  11. Remove the screws (x3) that attach the RH front fascia lamp assembly to the front fascia.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T25 socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
    • 4 in extension
  12. Release the tabs (x4) that attach the RH front fascia lamp assembly to the front fascia, and then remove the lamp from the fascia.
  13. Repeat steps 10 and 11 for the LH side of the vehicle.
  14. Remove clips (x8) that attach the valance to the front fascia assembly.
  15. Remove the nuts that attach the valance to the front fascia assembly, and then remove the valance from the assembly.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm deep socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench

    Note
    Release LH and RH corners of the valance from the fascia to release it from the assembly.
  16. Remove the screws (x2) that attach the front fascia grille to the front fascia assembly.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T25 socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
    • 4 in extension
  17. Release the tabs (x11) that attach the front fascia grille to the front fascia assembly, and then remove the grille from the assembly.
  18. Remove screw that attaches the T-badge support to the front fascia assembly.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T25 socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
    • 4 in extension
  19. Release the tabs (x4) that attach the T-badge support to the front fascia assembly, and then remove it from the assembly.

Install

  1. Place the front fascia assembly on a padded workbench.
  2. Locate the scribe lines on front fascia assembly for the new radar heater grid installation.
  3. Clean the installation area with IPA wipes.

    Allow 1 minute for dry time.
  4. Remove the adhesive backing on the LH side of the radar heater grid, align the bottom corner onto the scribe lines, and then adhere the bottom portion onto front fascia assembly.

    Make sure to not leave any creases or bubbles while adhering to the fascia. Alignment of heater grid along the scribe lines is key to radar operation.
  5. Remove the adhesive backing on the center of radar heater grid, align the bottom onto the scribe line, and then adhere the middle portion onto the front fascia assembly.

    Note
    Make sure to not leave any creases or bubbles while adhering to the fascia. Alignment of grid along the scribe lines is key to radar operation.
  6. Remove the adhesive backing on the RH side of the radar heater grid, align the bottom onto the scribe line, and then fully set both sides onto the front fascia assembly.

    Note
    Make sure to not leave any creases or bubbles while adhering to the fascia. Alignment of grid along the scribe lines is key to radar operation.
  7. Inspect the radar heater grid for bubbles and creases.

    Make sure the radar heater is fully adhered to the front fascia. Maximum bubble diameter is 10mm.
  8. Install the radar heater harness into the front fascia assembly.
  9. Install the T-badge support onto the front fascia assembly.
  10. Install the screw that attaches the T-badge support to the front fascia assembly.
    3 Nm (2.2 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T25 socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
    • 4 in extension
  11. Install the front fascia grille onto the front fascia assembly.
  12. Install the screws (x2) that attach the front fascia grille to the front fascia assembly.
    3 Nm (2.2 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T25 socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
    • 4 in extension
  13. Position the valance onto the front fascia assembly, and then install the nuts (x2) that attach the valance to the fascia assembly.
    3 Nm (2.2 lbs-ft)

    Note
    Interlock the valance tabs with the fascia tabs.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm deep socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
  14. Install clips (x8) that attach the valance to the front fascia assembly.

    Note
    Hold the fascia tabs flush with the valance if necessary.
  15. Install LH front fascia lamp assembly

    4x retaining tabs, 3x screws, T25, 2.8 Nm
  16. Install the RH front fascia lamp assembly onto the front fascia assembly, and then install the screws (x3) that attach the lamp to the fascia.
    2.8 Nm (2.1 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T25 socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
    • 4 in extension
  17. Install the parking sensors (x6) onto the front fascia assembly.

    Note
    Sensors S1 and S6 (arrowed in image) are different from S2-S5 (circled in image).
  18. Position the harness onto the front fascia assembly, and then install the clips that attach the harness to the fascia.
  19. Install the clip that attaches the pedestrian warning speaker wiring harness to the front fascia assembly, connect the speaker electrical connector, and then engage the connector lock.
  20. Connect the radar heater electrical connector, and then engage the connector lock.
  21. Connect the front BLE assembly electrical connector, and then engage the connector lock.
  22. Install the LV jumper wires onto the tow hook cover.

    Ensure both wire terminals are fully seated behind the retaining tabs.
  23. Connect the LH fascia lamp electrical connector, and then engage the connector lock.
  24. Connect the RH fascia lamp electrical connector, and then engage the connector lock.
  25. Connect the parking sensor electrical connector, and then engage the connector lock.
  26. Install the front fascia assembly. See Fascia Assembly - Front (Remove and Install).
  27. Install the front license plate base bracket and front license plate molding painted bracket that was removed from the old fascia onto the new fascia. See Base Bracket - License Plate - Front (Remove and Replace).
