Hood Assembly (Remove and Replace)

Remove
- Open the hood.

With assistance, remove the nuts (x2)
that attach the LH hood strut common bracket to the hood, and then set the hood strut
aside. Repeat this step for the RH hood strut common bracket.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 13 mm socket

With assistance, remove the nuts (x4)
that attach the hood to the hinges, and then place the hood topside down on a portable
bench.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 13 mm socket
- Remove the hood aero seal from the hood. See Aero Seal - Hood (Remove and Replace).

Remove the hood bumper-overslams
(x4).
NoteRotate overslams counter-clockwise to remove.

Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the
hood striker to the hood, and then remove the striker from the hood.
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Torx T40 socket
- 3 in extension
- Ratchet/torque wrench
Install
- Install the hood striker onto the hood. See Striker - Hood (Remove and Replace).

Install the hood striker to the hood,
but do not fully torque the bolts.

Install the hood bumper-overslams (x4).
NoteRotate overslams clockwise to install.
- Install the hood aero seal onto the hood. See Aero Seal - Hood (Remove and Replace).

With assistance, position the hood onto the vehicle, and then install and
hand-tighten the nuts (x4) that attach the hood to the hinges.

With assistance, position the RH hood strut common bracket onto the hood, and then
install the nuts (x2) that attach the bracket to the hood. Repeat this step for the LH
hood strut common bracket.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 13 mm socket

Close the hood and use a gap and flush tool to verify the hood gaps are within
specification.
NoteMeasure the 10x points labeled in the image. Refer to CVIS for current specifications.
- Open the hood.

Adjust the hood to achieve gap
targets, and then hand tighten the nuts.

Close the hood and use a gap and flush tool to verify the hood gaps are within
specification.

Torque the nuts (x4) that attach the hood to the hinges.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 13 mm socket

Torque the bolts that attach the hood
striker to the hood.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Torx T40 socket
- 3 in extension
- Ratchet/torque wrench

Close the hood and use a gap and flush
tool to verify the hood flushness is within specification.
NoteMeasure the 10x points labeled in the image. Refer to CVIS for current specifications.
- Open the hood.

Adjust the hood to achieve flushness
targets.
NoteRotate the bumper-overslams clockwise to decrease bumper height or counter-clockwise to increase bumper height as required to achieve flushness targets.

Close the hood and use a gap and flush tool to verify the hood flushness is within
specification.
