Superbeam (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
  2. Perform the "Deflate All" section of Air Suspension - Pressurize / Depressurize - Full System.
  3. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  4. Disconnect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  5. Remove the LH and RH underhood aprons. See Underhood Apron - LH (Remove and Replace).
  6. Remove the front underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Front (Remove and Replace).
  7. Remove the underhood storage unit access panel. See Underhood Storage Unit Access Panel (Remove and Replace).
  8. Remove the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Install).
  9. Remove the schrader valve cap from the air reservoir.
  10. Press down on the schrader valve to deflate completely the residual pressure from the air reservoir.
  11. Reinstall the schrader valve cap onto the air reservoir.
  12. Remove the nut that attaches the valve block line to the superbeam.
    5 Nm (3.7 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm 12-point combination wrench
    • 13 mm open crowfoot socket
  13. Release the driver air strut line clips (x3).
  14. Remove the bolts (x3) that attach the LV battery, and then move the LV battery aside.
    9 Nm (6.6 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm ratcheting combination wrench
    • 10 mm socket

    Note
    Take note of the datums and carefully move the LV battery aside.
  15. Remove the bolt that attaches the battery controller ground cable.
    9 Nm (6.6 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • External Torx E10 5-Lobe
  16. Remove the bolt, and then release the clip that attaches the main front body electrical harness to the superbeam.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • External Torx E10 5-Lobe
  17. Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the A/C compressor to the superbeam.
    31 Nm (22.9 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 15 mm ratcheting combination wrench
    • 15 mm socket

    Note
    While removing the bolts, support the A/C compressor as not to drop onto the front drive unit. Allow the A/C compressor to rest on the front drive unit.
  18. Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the supermanifold to the superbeam.
    31 Nm (22.9 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 15 mm ratcheting combination wrench
    • 15 mm socket

    Note
    While removing the bolts, support the A/C compressor as not to drop onto the front drive unit. Allow the A/C compressor to rest on the front drive unit.
  19. Remove the front body controller. See Module - Body Controller - Front (Remove and Replace).
  20. Remove the bolts (x4) that attach the superbeam to the body, and then remove the superbeam from the vehicle.
    60 Nm (44.2 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 15 mm socket

Install

  1. Install the bolts (x4) that attach the superbeam to the body.
    60 Nm (44.2 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 15 mm socket
  2. Install the front body controller. See Module - Body Controller - Front (Remove and Replace).
  3. With an assistant, lift the supermanifold into position, then hand-tighten the bolts (x2) that attach the supermanifold to the superbeam, and then tighten the bolts.
    31 Nm (22.9 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 15 mm socket
  4. Position the A/C compressor, then hand-tighten the bolts (x2) that attach the A/C compressor to the superbeam, and then tighten the bolts.
    31 Nm (22.9 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 15 mm socket
  5. Fasten the clip, and then install the bolt that attaches the main front body electrical harness to the superbeam.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • External Torx E10 5-Lobe
  6. Install the bolt that attaches the battery controller ground cable.
    9 Nm (6.6 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • External Torx E10 5-Lobe
  7. Install the bolts (x3) that attach the LV battery to the superbeam.
    9 Nm (6.6 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm ratcheting combination wrench
    • 10 mm socket

    Note
    Shift into position and install the fasteners.
  8. Secure the driver air strut line clips (x3).
  9. Install the nut that attache the valve block line to the reservoir.
    5 Nm (3.7 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm 12-point combination wrench
    • 13 mm open crowfoot socket
  10. Connect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  11. Refill the air suspension reservoir. See "Refill the Reservoir" section in Air Suspension - Pressurize / Depressurize - Full System.
  12. Install the front underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Front (Remove and Replace).
  13. Install the LH and RH underhood aprons. See Underhood Apron - LH (Remove and Replace).
  14. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  15. Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
