Hose - Supermanifold To 3 Way Valve And Radiator (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Raise and support vehicle.
  2. Place vehicle in service mode with touchscreen.

    Select vehicle's badge icon in Controls > Software for four seconds and then type "service" into dialog box.
  3. Access thermal system routines using the UI.

    Select quick controls > Service mode > Diagnostics > Thermal, Authorize routines by holding right turn signal, depressing brake pedal for 10 seconds with key on phone dock.
  4. Select Start button at Start Thermal Fill Drain (Coolant Only) using the UI and PROC_VCFRONT_X_START-THERMAL-FILL-DRAIN-COOLANTSearch for routine in ToolboxStart Thermal Fluid Fill/Drain (Coolant only)Thermal / Coolant System - Start Thermal Fill/Drainhv / Rear Drive Inverter Replacement - Start Fluid Fill/Drainhv / Rear Left Drive Inverter Replacement - Start Fluid Fill/Drainhv / Rear Right Drive Inverter Replacement - Start Fluid Fill/Drainhv / Front Drive Unit Replacement - Start Coolant Fill/Drainhv / Rear Drive Unit Replacement - Start Coolant Fill/DrainThermal / Actions - Start Coolant Fill/Drainhv / Front Drive Inverter Replacement - Start Fluid Fill/Drain window will appear.

    Select ‘X’ at top left of window to close once complete, Verify coolant status is green 'Ready for Fill/Drain' status, Thermal Fill Drain routine has a 5 hour time limit, After 5 hours EXV's will close and routine must be performed again.
  5. Remove the underhood storage unit. See .
  6. Power off vehicle from center display.

  7. Disconnect LV battery connector and First Responder Loop.

    2x connectors, Lift up and release green locking tab, Pull black connector lock outwards to release connection.
  8. Release clip securing the supermanifold to battery pump supply hose from LV battery.

  9. Remove fasteners securing the LV battery and move aside.

    3x bolts, 10mm, 9 Nm, 2x datums, Take note of datums and carefully move assembly aside.
  10. Release air quality sensor connection.

    1x connector.
  11. Remove HEPA filter assembly cover.

    2x tabs, 2x datums, 2x slots, , Be cautious and do not damage the mounting clips, Maneuver cover forward and up in front of V-brace cross member.
  12. Remove LV battery from vehicle.
  13. Release upper connections on the front controller.

    2x locking connectors, Push in locking tabs and lift levers to release.
  14. Release LH middle connection on the front controller.

    1x locking connector, Push in locking tab and lift lever to release.
  15. Release RH middle connections on the front controller.

    2x locking connectors, Slide locking mechanism outwards to release.
  16. Release lower connections on the front controller.

  17. Remove bolt securing front controller ground cable.

  18. Remove bolts securing front controller.

    3x bolts, 10mm, 10 Nm.
  19. Remove front controller from vehicle and release ground cable from multi system beam.

    2x locating tabs, 1x ground cable.
  20. Release frunk harness clip from body and move harness aside.

    1x fir tree clip, Secure harness to the side.
  21. Raise vehicle fully and lower lift onto locks.

    Note
    Set vehicle to comfortable working height, Make sure there's an audible click of the locks on both sides before lowering, otherwise vehicle may tilt to the side.
  22. Remove clips securing front aero shield.

    5x push clips.
  23. Remove bolts securing front aero shield and remove from vehicle.

    9x bolts, 10mm, 6 Nm.
  24. Place absorbent material below three way valve.

    Place to cover steering gear and front skid plate, Will prevent build up of fluid.
  25. Place coolant catcher below front of vehicle.

    Position to catch all coolant loss.
  26. Lower vehicle until tires are touching the ground.

    Raise lift off locks, then hold lock release lever to keep locks free while vehicle is lowered.
  27. Release thermal bar battery return hose from three way valve.

    1x hose clip, 2x plugs, Plug both ends.
  28. Disconnect the sensor for the powertrain supply hose.

    1x locking electrical connector, Do not push down on Red tab, Pull red tab to disengage lock, Pull again to release connector.
  29. Disconnect powertrain supply hose from supermanifold.

    1x spring clip, Plug supermanifold and powertrain supply hose.
  30. Disconnect the HV battery return hose from the Supermanifold.

    1x spring clip.
  31. Disconnect 12mm thermal bar battery return hose from top LH side of radiator.

    1x spring clip, 1x clip, Release hose clip at AC compressor bracket to allow removal, Plug hose and radiator as needed.
  32. Remove PT coolant pump from AC compressor bracket.

    Slide pump assembly away from compressor off lower bracket.
  33. Guide thermal bar battery return hose between AC compressor bracket and PT coolant pump and between supermanifold and front drive unit.
  34. Remove thermal bar battery return hose.

    Guide hose over multi-system beam.

Install

  1. Position thermal bar battery return hose between supermanifold and front drive unit.

    Guide down hose over multi-system beam.
  2. Guide thermal bar battery return hose between supermanifold and front drive unit and AC compressor bracket above PT coolant pump.
  3. Connect 12mm thermal bar battery return hose to top LH side of radiator.

    1x spring clip, 1x clip, Secure hose clip at AC compressor bracket to after installation, Remove any plugs and secure hose, Perform push-pull-push test.
  4. Secure thermal bar battery return hose onto three way valve.

    1x hose clip, 2x hose plugs, Remove any plugs and secure hose, Perform push-pull-push test.
  5. Connect the HV battery return hose from the Supermanifold.

    1x spring clip, Perform push-pull-push test to make sure hose is fully seated.
  6. Secure powertrain supply hose to supermanifold.

    1x spring clip, Remove all plugs, Perform push-pull-push test to make sure hose is fully seated.
  7. Connect the sensor for the powertrain supply hose.

    1x locking electrical connector, Engage locking tab.
  8. Clean coolant residue from vehicle.
  9. Return frunk harness to original position and secure clip.

  10. Position front controller for installation and position ground cable.

    2x locating tabs, 1x ground cable.
  11. Install bolts securing front controller.

    3x bolts, 10mm, 10 Nm. Start with the side bolt.
  12. Install bolt securing front controller ground cable.

    1x bolts, 10mm, 10 Nm.
  13. Secure lower connections on the front controller.

    2x locking connectors, Engage red locking tab.
  14. Secure RH middle connections on front controller.

    2x locking connectors, Verify yellow locking tabs are fully opened, Seat connectors and mechanism will begin to engage.
  15. Secure LH middle connection for front controller.

    1x locking connector, Verify lever is fully opened, Seat connector and lever will being to engage.
  16. Secure upper connections for the front controller.

    2x locking connectors, Verify levers are fully opened, Seat connectors and levers will begin to engage.
  17. Raise vehicle fully and lower lift onto locks.

    Set vehicle to comfortable working height, Make sure there's an audible click of the locks on both sides before lowering, otherwise vehicle may tilt to the side.
  18. Remove absorbent material from below three way valve.

    Remove absorbent material and clean away all excess residue.
  19. Clean coolant residue from vehicle.
  20. Remove coolant catcher from under vehicle.
  21. Apply Loctite 222 onto front aero shield bolts and install fasteners securing front aero shield to vehicle.

    9x bolts, 10mm, 6 Nm.
  22. Install clips securing front aero shield.

    5x push clips.
  23. Lower vehicle until tires are touching the ground.

    Raise lift off locks, then hold lock release lever to keep locks free while vehicle is lowered.
  24. Remove coolant bottle cap.
  25. Install frunk assembly.

    4x bolts, 10mm, 5 Nm.
  26. Place empty coolant container into front storage area.
  27. Fill container with at least 15L of coolant.
  28. Place filled coolant container into front storage area.
  29. Install vacuum refill cap onto coolant bottle assembly.
  30. Setup coolant refill tool.

    Verify all valves on refill tool are in the closed position, See image for clarity.
  31. Install vacuum refill hose into refill cap on coolant bottle.

    Perform push-pull-push test to verify hose is fully installed.
  32. Place refill hose inside filled coolant container .

    Make sure hose end is fully submerged into coolant.
  33. Position overflow hose into empty container.
  34. Connect shop air supply to coolant refill tool.

    If not already done, Verify refill valve is set to off.
  35. Open air inlet valve to draw a vacuum, Once gauge stabilizes, Fully close valve.

    Gauge stabilizes roughly (60-70 cmHg), Vacuum should not drop after the valves are closed.
  36. Slowly open the refill valve to allow coolant to be drawn into the system.

    Make sure hose end of refill hose is fully submerged during entire process.
  37. Once the gauge reads zero, close the coolant refill valve.
  38. Remove coolant refill hose from coolant container.
  39. Remove coolant overflow hose from coolant container.
  40. Remove vacuum refill hose from refill cap on coolant bottle.
  41. Remove vacuum refill tool cap.
  42. Remove coolant refill tool from vehicle.
  43. Remove both coolant containers from inside underhood area.
  44. Position LV battery into vehicle.

    Position LV battery to the left and allow space for HEPA cover to be installed.
  45. Install HEPA filter assembly cover.

    2x tabs, 2x datums, 2x slots, Maneuver cover down and under V-brace cross member, Fully engage seal and locking tabs.
  46. Secure air quality sensor connection.

  47. Install fasteners securing LV battery to multi-system beam.

    3x bolts, 10mm, 9 Nm, 2x datums, Shift into position and install fasteners.
  48. Install clip securing the supermanifold to battery pump supply hose onto LV battery.

  49. Connect First Responder Loop and LV battery connector.

    2x connectors Secure FRL first, Seat LV battery connection and push black connector lock inwards to secure, Engage green locking tab when fully seated.
  50. Access thermal system routines using the UI.

  52. Inspect coolant level and top off as necessary.

  53. Install coolant bottle cap.
  54. Exit Service Mode.

  57. Install front underhood apron.

  58. Install RH underhood apron.

  62. Remove vehicle from lift.

    Lower rack arms fully and remove them from under vehicle, Remove air suspension from "Jack Mode".
