Door Assembly - Front - LH (Remove and Replace)

Correction code 10106002 1.50 NOTE: Unless otherwise explicitly stated in the procedure, the above correction code and FRT reflect all of the work required to perform this procedure, including the linked procedures. Do not stack correction codes unless explicitly told to do so. NOTE: See Flat Rate Times to learn more about FRTs and how they are created. Remove

  1. Apply masking tape to the LH front door exterior release handle.
  2. Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
  3. Remove the LH A-pillar margin front door seal. See Seal - Door - Front - Margin - A Pillar - LH (Remove and Replace).
  4. Remove the LH front door trim decor. See Decor - Trim - Front Door - LH (Remove and Replace).
  5. Remove the LH front door trim panel. See Panel - Door Trim - Front - LH (Remove and Replace).
  6. Remove any remaining clip retainers from the LH front door.

    Note
    The number of retainers will vary with each removal.
  7. Remove the LH front door secondary seal. See Seal - Secondary - Front Door - LH (Remove and Replace).
  8. Remove the plugs (x2) that cover the openings in the door for access to the LH front regulator mounting guides.
  9. Remove the LH front door glass. See Door Glass - Front - LH (Remove and Replace).
  10. Remove the LH front door outer belt seal. See Seal - Outer Belt - Front Door - LH (Remove and Replace).
  11. Disconnect the door mirror assembly electrical connector, and then release the clip that attaches the electrical harness to the door.
  12. Remove the bolts (x3) that attach the door mirror assembly to the door.
    18 Nm (13.3 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket
  13. Carefully lift the LH door mirror assembly upward to remove it from the vehicle.
  14. Pull the white tab to release the connector lock, and then disconnect the LH front door handle controller electrical connector.
  15. Disconnect the LH front door pressure sensor electrical connector.

    Note
    DO NOT push down on the red locking tab. Pull the tab away from the connector until the connector is unlocked, and then continue pulling to release the connector.
  16. Remove the bolts (x6) that attach the LH front door closeout panel to the door assembly.
    4.5 Nm (3.3 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 8 mm socket
    • 2 in extension
  17. Release the latch cable grommet from the closeout panel assembly, and then route the grommet and cable through the opening.
  18. Release the clips (x2) that attach the wiring harness to the LH front door closeout panel assembly, and then remove the closeout panel from the vehicle.

    Note
    Release clips from back of the panel to prevent damage.
  19. Remove the LH front door speaker. See Speaker - Front Door - LH (Remove and Replace).
  20. Remove the bolts (x4) that attach the LH front door speaker spacer ring to the door assembly, and then lift the ring up and away to remove it from the door assembly.
    4 Nm (2.9 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 8 mm socket
  21. Remove the LH front window regulator from the door assembly. See Window Motor/Regulator Assembly - Front - LH (Remove and Replace).
  22. Disconnect the window switch special tool.
  23. Remove the LH front door latch. See Latch - Door - Front - LH (Remove and Replace).
  24. Release the clip that attaches the LH front door exterior handle electrical connector to the LH front door, release the connector lock, and then disconnect the LH front door exterior handle electrical connector.
  25. Remove the butyl patch and plug that cover the LH front door exterior handle fastener access holes.
  26. Remove the nuts (x4) that attach the LH front door exterior handle to the door assembly.
    9 Nm (6.6 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm deep socket
  27. Remove the LH front door exterior handle through the access opening.
  28. Remove the LH front door harness. See Harness - Front Door - LH (Remove and Replace).
  29. With assistance, remove the bolts (x4) that attach the LH front door to the vehicle, and then remove the door from the vehicle.
    31 Nm (22.9 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket

Install

CAUTION
If using this procedure to install an unpainted part, make sure to apply seam sealer to all seams prior to installing and painting the part. Refer to the Collision Repair manual for more information.
  1. With assistance, position the LH front door onto the vehicle, and then install the bolts (x4) that attach the door to the vehicle.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket
  2. Position the LH front door harness into the door, and then install the clips (x9) that attach the harness to the door.
  3. Install the LH front door exterior handle electrical connector retaining clips.
  4. Feed the LH front door wiring harness through the door and into the body of the vehicle seating both grommets (x2), and then attach the retaining clip.
  5. Connect the VC left electrical connectors (x2), and then fasten the clip that attaches the wiring harness to the vehicle.
  6. Install the LH lower A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Lower - LH (Remove and Replace).
  7. Install the LH middle A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Middle - LH (Remove and Replace).
  8. Position the LH front door handle assembly into the door, and then loosely install the nuts that attach the assembly to the door.

    Note
    Apply 222 Loctite to the nuts before installing.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm deep socket
  9. Align the LH exterior door handle, and then tighten the nuts (x4) that attach the door handle to the door assembly.
    9 Nm (6.6 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm deep socket
  10. Install butyl patch and plug that cover the LH front door handle fastener access holes.

    1x butyl, 1x plug
  11. Connect the harness to the LH front door handle assembly, and then engage the locking tab.

    Make sure the connector is fully seated.
  12. Carefully maneuver the LH front door latch assembly around the window regulator into position, and then route the release cable underneath the door harness assembly.
  13. Connect the LH front door latch assembly connector, and then secure the locking tab.
  14. Install the clips (x2) that attach the LH front door release cable and harness to the door assembly.

    Ensure the release cable is routed underneath the door harness assembly.
  15. Install new bolts (x2) that attach the LH front door latch to the door assembly.
    10 Nm (7.4 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T45 socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
  16. Partially install the LH front window regulator into the door opening with enough clearance to access the motor harness electrical connector.
  17. Connect the LH front window regulator motor electrical connector.
  18. Secure the LH front window regulator into the lower mounts.
  19. Secure the LH front window regulator into the upper mounts.
  20. Install the screws (x3) that attach the LH front window regulator motor to the door assembly.
    3 Nm (2.2 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T30 socket
  21. Install the upper nuts (x2) that attach the LH front window regulator to the door assembly.
    10 Nm (7.4 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  22. Install the butyl patches that cover the access openings to the upper LH front regulator mounting nuts.
  23. Install and hand-tighten the lower nuts that attach the LH front window regulator to the door assembly.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  24. Raise the LH front window regulator isolator clamps fully.
  25. Position the LH front door speaker spacer ring onto the door assembly, and then install the bolts (x4) that attach the spacer ring to the door assembly.
    4 Nm (2.9 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 8 mm socket
  26. Position the LH front door speaker onto the spacer ring, and then install the screws (x4) that attach the speaker to the spacer ring.
    1.8 Nm (1.3 lbs-ft)
  27. Connect the LH front door speaker electrical connector.
  28. Route the latch cable grommet through the opening in the LH front door closeout panel, and then install the grommet into the closeout panel assembly.
  29. Install the bolts (x6) that attach the LH front door closeout panel to the door assembly.
    4.5 Nm (3.3 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 8 mm socket
    • 2 in extension
  30. Fasten the clips (x2) that attach the wiring harness onto the LH front door closeout panel assembly.

    Note
    Make sure there is an audible click to fully engage the clip.
  31. Connect the LH front door pressure sensor electrical connector, and then engage the connector lock.
  32. Connect the LH front door handle controller electrical connector, and then engage the connector lock.
  33. Position the LH exterior door mirror assembly onto the door, align the guide rail onto the front laminated side glass, and then install the bolts (x3) that attach the assembly to the door.
    18 Nm (13.3 lbs-ft)

    Make sure the wiring harness connector is inboard of the door

    Note
    Failure to install the fasteners using the following sequence can result in NVH issues.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket
  34. Connect the door mirror electrical connector, and then secure the harness clip onto the door.
  35. Install the LH front door outer belt seal. See Seal - Outer Belt - Front Door - LH (Remove and Replace).
  36. Install the LH front door glass. See Door Glass - Front - LH (Remove and Replace).
  37. Position the LH front door glass into the door assembly.
  38. Install the LH front door inner belt seal. See Seal - Inner Belt - Front Door - LH (Remove and Replace).
  39. Install and hand-tighten the bolts (x2) that attach the LH front door glass to the LH front regulator isolator clamps.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  40. Pull the LH front exterior door handle to release the latch.

    Note
    This will allow window to drop and not contact the bright trim.
  41. Position the LH front door seal onto the door assembly, and then secure the clips (x9) that attach the seal to the assembly.
  42. Position the LH front seal onto the door assembly, and then secure the clips (x4) that attach the seal to the assembly.
  43. Install the A-pillar margin seal onto the LH front door.

    Note
    Partially open and close the door as needed to access the seal.
  44. Secure the clips (x3) that attach the A-pillar margin seal to the LH front door.
  45. Adjust the LH front door glass. See Door Glass - Front - LH (Adjust).
  46. Reinstall the software. See Firmware Reinstall - Touchscreen.
  47. On the touchscreen, touch Service > Closures > Door Handles.
    Software version 2023.12 or later is required for the function to be available through the touchscreen.
  48. In the door handle calibration screen, touch Calibrate for the Front Left door handle.
  49. On the touchscreen, touch Service > Closures > Windows.
    Software version 2023.12 or later is required for the function to be available through the touchscreen.
  50. In the next screen, touch Calibrate Windows.
  51. Remove the masking tape from the LH front door exterior handle.
  52. Verify that the LH front door exterior handle functions properly.
