Lap Pretensioner - 1st Row - LH (Remove and Replace)

Remove
- Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).

Move the driver seat forward and raise
the seat to the highest position.
CAUTIONAdjust the seat back to avoid contact with the headliner, if necessary.
- Disconnect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
- Remove the driver seat outboard side shield. See Side Shield - Outboard - Driver Seat (Remove and Replace).

Use a flathead screwdriver to
rotate the lock mechanism on the front seat belt linkage counterclockwise to
release it from the pretensioner, and then slide the linkage off the
pretensioner and set it aside.
CAUTIONDO NOT rotate clockwise to avoid damage to the mechanism.NoteThe linkage design may vary, but will function the same.NoteThe lock screw will remain in the horizontal position when released.NoteA light audible click will be heard when the linkage is released.

Remove the screw that attaches the
driver seat outboard side shield to the seat assembly.
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Torx T20 socket
- 2 in extension
- Ratchet/torque wrench

Carefully release the clips (x7) that
attach the driver seat outboard side shield to the seat assembly, but do not fully
remove the side shield from the seat assembly.

Disconnect the electrical harness from
the seat switch.

Release the safety lock, and then
disconnect the LH 1st row lap pretensioner electrical connector.

Remove the bolt that attaches the LH
1st row lap pretensioner to the seat track, and then remove the pretensioner from the
vehicle.NoteBolt is patched and held in place with a metal clip.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- T50 socket
Install

Position the LH 1st row lap
pretensioner onto the seat track, align the guide pin onto the seat track, and then
install the bolt that attaches the pretensioner to the seat assembly.NoteMake sure to use the new patch bolt that is included with the new pretensioner.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- T50 socket

Connect the LH 1st row lap pretensioner electrical connector, and then secure the
safety lock.

Connect the electrical harness to the
back rest and cushion adjust switch assembly, and then verify the functions of the seat
switches.

Position the driver seat outboard side
shield onto the seat, and then install the clips (x7) that attach the side shield to the
seat.
Tip: Apply pressure to the side shield to fully seat the clips. The side shield should sit flush against the seat cushion.

Install the screw that attaches the
driver seat outboard side shield to the seat assembly.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Torx T20 socket
- 2 in extension
- Ratchet/torque wrench

Install the front seat belt
linkage to the pretensioner:
- Connect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
- Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
- Close the hood.
- Move the driver seat to the original position.
- Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
