Brake Caliper - Front - LH (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  2. Remove the LH front wheel. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  3. Remove the bolt that attaches the brake hose to the LH front knuckle.
  4. Remove the bolt that attaches the LH front brake line to theLH front air spring module.
  5. Remove the brake pad anti-rattle clips from the LH front brake caliper.
  6. Position an oil drain underneath the LH front corner of the vehicle.
  7. Remove the banjo bolt that attaches the brake line to the LH front brake caliper, catching any fluid lost in the oil drain.
  8. Disconnect the LH front brake hose from the LH front brake line, catching any brake fluid lost in the oil drain.
  9. Remove the clip that attaches the LH front brake hose to the mounting bracket, and remove the brake hose from the vehicle.
  10. Remove the LH front brake caliper from the LH front knuckle.

    Support the brake pads if the anti-rattle clips have been removed.
  11. Remove the brake pads from the LH front brake caliper.
  12. Use a hand brush and soapy water to clean the anti-rattle springs.

Install

  1. Apply an even layer of Silaramic lubricant to the brake pad contact points.
  2. Install the brake pads to the LH front caliper.
  3. Install the two bolts that attach the LH front brake caliper to the LH front knuckle.

    2x bolts, 21mm, 135 Nm
  4. Position the LH front brake hose to the vehicle and install the clip that attaches the brake hose to the mounting bracket.
  5. Connect the LH front brake hose to the LH front brake line.

    1x nut, 12mm, 16 Nm
  6. Install the banjo bolt that attaches the brake line to the LH front brake caliper.

    1x banjo bolt, 11mm, 42 Nm
  7. Remove the oil drain from underneath the LH front corner of the vehicle.
  8. Install the brake pad anti-rattle clips (x2) on the LH front brake caliper.

    2x tabs on each anti-rattle clip. Ensure the anti-rattle clips are installed on the brake caliper correctly.
  9. Install the bolt that attaches the brake hose to the LH front air spring module.

  10. Install the bolt that attaches the brake hose to the LH front knuckle.

  11. Perform a brake fluid flush on the LH front wheel. See Brake Fluid Bleed/Flush (Remove and Replace).
  12. Perform a vehicle road test using a series of ABS-active stops and make sure proper brake pedal feel and performance is achieved.
