3 Way Coolant Valve - Radiator Bypass (Remove and Replace)

Remove
- Remove the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Replace).
- Disconnect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
- Remove the front body controller. See Module - Body Controller - Front (Remove and Replace).

Release the clip that attaches the
underhood storage unit harness to the body, then move the harness aside.
- Remove the front aero shield panel. See Panel - Aero Shield - Front (Remove and Replace).

Place absorbent material below the 3
way valve.

Remove the lower nut that attaches the
3 way valve to the body.
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm deep socket
- Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
- 10 mm flex head combination wrench
- Lower the vehicle fully.
- Place a coolant catcher below the front of the vehicle.

Disconnect the 3 way valve electrical
connector.
NoteDisengage the red locking tab, then slide the tab outwards to disconnect the connector.

Release the clip that attaches the
coolant hose to the 3 way valve.

Release the clip, disconnect the 3 way
valve to radiator hose from the 3 way valve, then immediately plug both fittings.

Release the clip, disconnect the
battery return hose from the 3 way valve, then immediately plug both fittings.

Release the clip, disconnect the 3 way
valve to supermanifold hose from the 3 way valve, then immediately plug both
fittings.

Remove the top nut that attaches the 3
way valve to the body.
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm deep socket
- Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
- 10 mm flex head combination wrench

Remove the 3 way valve from the
vehicle.
Install

Install the 3 way valve to the
vehicle.

Install the top nut that attaches the
3 way valve to the body.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm deep socket
- Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
- 10 mm flex head combination wrench
- Ratchet/torque wrench

Remove the plugs, immediately connect
the 3 way valve to supermanifold hose to the 3 way valve, and then fasten the
clip.
NotePerform a push-pull-push test on the fittings to make sure that they are secure.

Remove the plugs, immediately connect
the battery return hose to the 3 way valve, and then fasten the clip.
NotePerform a push-pull-push test on the fittings to make sure that they are secure.

Remove the plugs, immediately connect
the 3 way valve to radiator hose to the 3 way valve, and then fasten the clip.
NotePerform a push-pull-push test on the fittings to make sure that they are secure.

Fasten the clip that attaches the
coolant hose to the 3 way valve.

Connect the 3 way valve electrical
connector.
- Remove the coolant catcher from under the front of the vehicle.
- Raise the vehicle to a comfortable working height.

Install the lower nut that attaches
the 3 way valve to the body.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm deep socket
- Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
- 10 mm flex head combination wrench
- Ratchet/torque wrench
- Remove the absorbent material from below the 3 way valve and clean any residue.
- Install the front aero shield panel. See Panel - Aero Shield - Front (Remove and Replace).

Fasten the clip that attaches the
underhood storage unit harness to the body.
- Install the front body controller. See Module - Body Controller - Front (Remove and Replace).
- Connect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
- Install the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Replace).
- Perform the cooling system (partial refill and bleed) procedure. See Cooling System (Partial Refill and Bleed).
- Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
