Brake Rotor - Front - LH (Remove and Replace)

Note
If only a single rotor needs replacing (due to damage), the corresponding axle rotor must be measured for runout and thickness. See Brake Rotor - Front - LH (Measure Runout).

Remove

  1. Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
  2. Remove the LH front wheel. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  3. Remove the bolt that attaches the brake hose to the LH front knuckle.
    6 Nm (4.4 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  4. Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the front brake caliper to the knuckle, and then allow the caliper to hang from the body using S-hooks.
    135 Nm (99.6 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 21 mm socket
  5. If installled, remove and discard the bolt that attaches the LH front rotor to the front knuckle.

    Some vehicles may not have this bolt installed from the factory.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket
  6. Remove the LH front rotor from the hub.

Install

  1. Install the LH front rotor to the hub.

    Note
    It is not necessary to install the bolt that attaches the rotor to the hub.
  2. Clean the surfaces of the LH front brake rotor with brake cleaner, and then wipe the surface with a lint-free towel.
  3. Install the bolts (x2) that attach the front brake caliper to the knuckle.
    135 Nm (99.6 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 21 mm socket
  4. Install the bolt that attaches the brake hose bracket to the LH front knuckle.
    6 Nm (4.4 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  5. Install the LH front wheel. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  6. Burnish the brake pads. See Brake Pads - Burnishing
