Brace - Toeboard - LH (Remove and Replace)

- Raise and support the vehicle on a 2 post lift. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
- Connect a laptop with Toolbox to the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect).
- In Toolbox, click Actions/Autodiag, and then search for ‘Thermal.’
- Click Start Thermal Fluid Fill/Drain (Coolant only), and then click Run. Allow the routine to complete.

Remove the laptop from the
vehicle.
NoteToolbox will be resumed later.
- Set the steering yoke straight ahead.

Lock the steering yoke into
position.
NoteProtect the seat from damage.
- Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).

Power off vehicle from center display
NoteVia Controls > Safety & Security > Power Off
- Disconnect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
- Remove the mid aero shield. See Panel - Aero Shield - Mid (Remove and Replace).
- Perform Vehicle HV Disablement Procedure. See Vehicle HV Disablement Procedure.
- Remove the LH and RH front wheels. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
- Remove the LH and RH rocker panel scuff plates. See Scuff Plate - Rocker Panel - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the LH and RH rocker panel moldings. See Molding - Rocker Panel - LH (Remove and Replace).

Raise and support vehicle for HV battery removal
NoteSet air suspension to "Jack Mode" if equipped, Line up all lift pads at vehicle lifting points, Ensure lift pads will be positioned properly. If not done correctly HV pack will physically contact the lift pad during removal

Remove LH side bolster trim

Remove 2nd row seat cushion assembly
Note2x clips, 2x connectors, Disengage locking clips and lift up on seat cushion, Release connections, If second row seats are folded down, move aside for time being

Remove busbar header foam block

Remove fastener securing busbar cover access door

Remove bolts securing busbar to HV header and release busbar

Raise vehicle fully and lower lift onto locks
NoteSet vehicle to comfortable working height, Make sure there's an audible click of the locks on both sides before lowering, otherwise vehicle may tilt to the side

Remove clips securing front aero shield

Remove bolts securing front aero shield and remove from vehicle

Disconnect and release pedestrian warning speaker connector

Remove clips that secure valance to front fascia assembly

Remove bolt securing the steering gear assembly to electric steering column

Slide the steering column upward to remove it from the steering gear assembly

Lower vehicle partially and set lift onto locks
NoteRaise lift off locks, then hold lock release lever to keep locks free while vehicle is lowered, Set vehicle to comfortable working height

Remove LH front wheel

Release LH ANC sensor and damper bracket from air spring module
Note1x bolt, 10mm, 6 Nm, Route around links and hang, Take note of how the harness is routed for installation

Remove nut securing front stabar link to LH front stabar and move aside
Note1x nyloc nut, 15mm, 70 Nm, Counter hold ball joint with T40, Discard after removal, May need to move the stabilizer bar up/down to get the correct angle needed to remove end link

Remove nut and bolt securing LH front air spring module to front lower aft link assembly

Remove nut and release LH aft link from knuckle assembly
Note1x nut, 22mm, 180 Nm, Nordlok washer, Counter hold stud with T45 socket and use wrench to loosen nut, Discard after removal

Remove nut and release LH fore link from knuckle assembly

Remove nut and bolt securing RH front air spring module to front lower aft link assembly

Remove nut and release RH aft link from knuckle assembly
Note1x nut, 21mm, 195 Nm, Nordlok washer, Counter hold stud with T45 socket and use wrench to loosen nut, Discard after removal

Remove nut and release RH fore link from knuckle assembly

Remove nut securing the RH tie rod end to the knuckle

Break loose the front subframe bolts,
but do not remove the bolts at this time.

Depending on the vehicle manufacture date, the bolts might be as follows:
- Front-most bolts (16 mm or 18
mm):
- M12 1.75x75 bolt (1063242-00-B) and M12x24x2.5 washer (1103852-00-A): 80 Nm
- M12-1.75x115 bolt (1608611-00-C ): 80 Nm
- Middle bolts (18 mm): 80 Nm
- Rear-most bolts (21 mm):
- M14 2.0x58 bolt (1133941-00-C): 115 Nm
- M14 2.0x67 bolt (1638540-00-A): 145 Nm
- Front-most bolts (16 mm or 18
mm):

Remove the rear-most subframe bolts with
a battery-powered drill.
Note21 mm: 115 Nm or 145 Nm

Remove forward-most subframe fixture hardware
NoteBolts will clash with subframe if not removed, Return bolts to fixture when finished with procedure
- Move the subframe lifting tool underneath the front subframe area
-
Connect air supply to subframe lifting tool
-
Raise the powertrain table and subframe fixture into position
NoteRecommend assistance, Lower aft links will sit on fixture

Remove the remaining front subframe
bolts with a battery-powered drill.
Note16 mm or 18 mm: 80 NmNoteTake note of fastener positions for installation.

Lower front subframe from vehicle
NoteRecommend assistance, Knuckle assembly and strut brackets will have to be maneuvered so that the links will clear
- Disconnect air supply from subframe lifting tool
- Remove subframe lifting tool from under vehicle

Remove RH shear plate

Hand-tighten the bolts located at the
front of the front subframe.
NoteDepending on the vehicle manufacture date, the front-most bolts might be as follows (16 mm or 18 mm):
- M12 1.75x75 bolt (1063242-00-B) and M12x24x2.5 washer (1103852-00-A)
- M12-1.75x115 bolt (1608611-00-C )
NoteHand-tighten the bolts, and then use a battery powered drill to continue fastening the bolts. Do not tighten fully. Fully tighten the bolts at later step. -
Lower the powertrain table and remove it from under the vehicle
NoteRelease ratchet strap from subframe fixture
- Disconnect shop air supply from the powertrain table
- Remove the subframe lifting tool from vehicle

Hand-tighten the rear bolts of the front
subframe.
Note21 mm. Depending on the vehicle manufacture date, the rear bolts might be as follows:
- M14 2.0x58 (1133941-00-C)
- M14 2.0x67 (1638540-00-A)
NoteHand-tighten the bolts, and then use a battery powered drill to continue fastening the bolts. Do not tighten fully. Fully tighten the bolts at later step. -
Tighten the front subframe bolts.

Apply Penetrox onto HV connector joints
NoteApply 2 drops of Penetrox A-13 about 5mm in diameter to either side of the hole on both leads, Spread evenly to verify the contact surface is fully covered
-
Secure busbar onto HV header and install bolts
Note2x bolts, 10mm, 9 Nm

Inspect HV insulating gloves
NoteCheck gloves for damage prior to use
- Put on HV insulating gloves and leather over gloves
-
Perform Hioki resistance test at each HV joint from HV busbar lead to bolt head
Note2x HV joints, When using Hioki tester, verify the meter has been properly adjusted and set prior to usage. The acceptable resistance is between 0.050 mΩ (50 μΩ) and 0.195 mΩ (195 μΩ). If the resistance is greater than 0.195 mΩ (195 μΩ), there is too much resistance in the High Voltage joint. Remove the fastener, clean areas with isopropyl alcohol, install fastener back and test again. If the resistance is lower than 0.050 mΩ (50 μΩ), reposition the probes and measure again. If the resistance is repeatedly between 0.00 mΩ and 0.050 mΩ (50 μΩ), hioki test passed, proceed to next step
- Remove the leather glove protectors and HV insulating gloves

Note2x clips, 2x connectors, Secure connections and slide seat belt buckles through the seat cushion, Engage clips

Install LH side bolster trim
Note1x clip, 1x tab, Replace clip if damaged, Hook bottom portion and then secure the top

Install RH side bolster trim
Note1x clip, 1x tab, Replace clip if damaged, Hook bottom portion and then secure the top

Connect FDU harness to frunk harness
Note1x connector

Place empty coolant container into front storage area
-
Fill container with at least 15L of coolant
-
Place filled coolant container into front storage area
-
Remove coolant bottle cap
-
Install vacuum refill cap onto coolant bottle assembly
-
Setup coolant refill tool
NoteVerify all valves on refill tool are in the closed position, See image for clarity
-
Install vacuum refill hose into refill cap on coolant bottle
NotePerform push-pull-push test to verify hose is fully installed
-
Place refill hose inside filled coolant container
NoteMake sure hose end is fully submerged into coolant
-
Position overflow hose into empty container
-
Connect shop air supply to coolant refill tool
NoteIf not already done, Verify refill valve is set to off
-
Open air inlet valve to draw a vacuum, Once gauge stabilizes, Fully close valve
NoteGauge stabilizes roughly (60-70 cmHg), Vacuum should not drop after the valves are closed
-
Slowly open the refill valve to allow coolant to be drawn into the system
NoteMake sure hose end of refill hose is fully submerged during entire process
-
Once the gauge reads zero, close the coolant refill valve
-
Disconnect shop air supply from coolant refill tool
-
Remove coolant refill hose from coolant container
-
Remove coolant overflow hose from coolant container
-
Remove vacuum refill hose from refill cap on coolant bottle
-
Remove coolant refill tool from vehicle

Remove both coolant containers from inside underhood area
-
Connect First Responder Loop and LV battery connector
Note2x connectors Secure FRL first, Seat LV battery connection and push black connector lock inwards to secure, Engage grey locking tab when fully seated

Perform the following routine using Service Mode or Toolbox (see 0005 - Service Modes):

‘Run’, and allow routine to complete
NoteMake sure vehicle is not in drive state, Plan is still running despite the stop message, Coolant pumps will be audible, Test lasts approximately 10 mins, Putting vehicle into drive state will stop this routine, Monitor levels as required

Inspect coolant level and top off as necessary
NoteEnsure that the fluid level is at the Max line, Top off fluid as required

Install coolant bottle cap

Install rear underhood apron

Close hood
NotePress firmly in green highlighted areas (see image), Damage may result from pressure elsewhere on hood

Remove vehicle from lift
NoteLower rack arms fully and remove them from under vehicle, Remove air suspension from "Jack Mode"

Install LH rocker panel onto vehicle
NoteSecure at front and rear fenders, Be sure to insert rocker above jack pads
-
Install bolts securing LH rocker panel to body
Note7x upper bolts, 10mm, 3 Nm, 4x lower bolts, 10mm, 3 Nm
-
Secure covers on bottom edge of LH rocker panel
Note3x covers
-
Install LH rear wheel fairing and secure bolts
Note2x bolt, 8mm, 2.85 Nm, 5x tabs
-
Install clips securing rocker panel to LH rear wheelhouse liner
Note2x push clips
-
Install clip securing rocker panel to LH front wheelhouse liner
Note1x push clip
-
Position LH scuff plate for installation
-
Install tabs and clips securing LH scuff plate
Note7x tabs, 7x clips, Secure lower clips and then proceed to install upper tabs
-
Install body side secondary seal onto LH rocker panel
Note1x clip, Apply new double sided adhesive to rear bottom section of secondary seal
-
Install RH rocker panel onto vehicle
NoteSecure at front and rear fenders, Be sure to insert rocker above jack pads
-
Install bolts securing RH rocker panel to body
Note7x upper bolts, 10mm, 3 Nm, 4x lower bolts, 10mm, 3 Nm
-
Secure covers on bottom edge of RH rocker panel
Note3x covers
-
Install RH rear wheel fairing and secure bolts
Note2x bolt, 8mm, 3 Nm, 5x tabs
-
Install clips securing rocker panel to RH rear wheelhouse liner
Note2x push clips
-
Install clip securing rocker panel to RH front wheelhouse liner
Note1x push clip
-
Position RH scuff plate for installation
-
Install tabs and clips securing RH scuff plate
Note7x tabs, 7x clips, Secure lower clips and then proceed to install upper tabs
-
Install body side secondary seal onto RH rocker panel
Note1x clip, Apply new double sided adhesive to rear bottom section of secondary seal
- Remove steering wheel holder from vehicle
- Raise all four windows
- Close LH front door
-
Verify turn and slip plates are locked
-
Set vehicle ride height to Standard, then drive vehicle onto alignment rack and shift into Park
NoteRecommend assistance for aligning vehicle to ramps
- Latch passenger seat belt to driver buckle
- Exit vehicle and place wheel chocks around driver's rear wheel
-
Enter vehicle, enable Jack Mode, shift to neutral, then close driver's door latch
NoteMake sure climate control and headlights are off as well
-
Raise 4-post lift and lower onto locks
NoteSet vehicle to comfortable working height, Make sure there's an audible click of the locks on both sides before lowering, otherwise vehicle may tilt to the side

Torque LH air spring module nut and bolt to LH aft link assembly
Note1x bolt, 21mm, 1x nut, 21mm, 140 Nm
-
Remove existing paint mark from LH air spring module bolt
NoteClean the area thoroughly so the new marking is not confused with the previous marking
-
Mark LH air spring module bolt to show component has been torqued
NoteUse a high visibility paint pen when marking components
-
Torque RH air spring module nut and bolt to RH aft link assembly
Note1x bolt, 21mm, 1x nut, 21mm, 140 Nm
-
Remove the existing paint mark from RH air spring module
NoteClean the area thoroughly so the new marking is not confused with the previous marking
-
Mark the RH air spring module bolt to show the component has been torqued
NoteUse a high visibility paint pen when marking components
-
Lower 4-post lift and set onto locks
NoteSet vehicle to comfortable working height, Make sure there's an audible click of the locks on both sides before lowering, otherwise vehicle may tilt to the side
-
Set tire machine pressures to match vehicle
NoteRefer to the "Tire and Loading Information" label located on the driver side B-pillar
-
Install pressure hoses onto all four wheels so tire pressures can be set automatically
NotePull hose from reel and lock into position, then remove valve stem cap and install hose onto valve stem
-
Install alignment heads onto all four wheels
NotePosition alignment heads near the center of the wheel, Adjust side arms as necessary to grip tires securely
-
Remove tire pressure hoses from valve stems
NoteReinstall valve stem caps
-
Check that front turn plates are centered on tires
NoteAdjust turn plate location if necessary
-
Perform rolling compensation
NotePush vehicle forward using driver's side rear tire, Insert wheel chocks once vehicle has been rolled forward, Turn and slip plates should automatically unlock
- Apply brake pedal depressor
- Perform caster sweep, then center steering wheel per level bubble and lock steering wheel into position
-
Print vehicle alignment summary
NoteInclude before/after results
- Remove brake pedal depressor, steering wheel level, and steering wheel holder and place vehicle into Park
- Remove alignment heads from all four wheels
- Lower 4-post lift fully
- Use exterior door handle to release driver door latch
- Remove wheel chocks

Remove vehicle from 4-post lift
NoteRemove suspension from Jack Mode, Release passenger seat belt from driver buckle
