Damper Wedge - Liftgate - LH (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Open the liftgate.
  2. Remove the liftgate damper wedge cover.
  3. Remove the screw that attaches the liftgate damper wedge to the liftgate, and then remove it from the vehicle.
    12 Nm (8.8 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T30 socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench

Install

  1. Use IPA wipes to clean the double sided tape residue from the liftgate.

    Note
    Allow 1 minute of dry time.
  2. Remove the backing from the double sided tape on LH liftgate damper wedge, position the damper wedge onto the liftgate, and then install the screw that attaches the damper wedge to the liftgate.
    12 Nm (8.8 lbs-ft)

    Note
    Align the damper wedge to the screw insert.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T30 socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
  3. Install the liftgate damper wedge cover.

    The liftgate damper wedge cover is separate from liftgate damper wedge. If the cover tabs are broken during removal, order PN 1012174-00-A.
  4. Close the liftgate.
