Remove

  1. Open all the doors and open all the windows.
  2. Remove the LH and RH 2nd row seat outer bolsters. See Bolster - Outer - Seat - 2nd Row - LH (Remove and Replace).
  3. Remove the 2nd row lower seat cushion. See Seat Cushion - Lower - 2nd Row (Remove and Replace).
  4. Remove the rear trunk parcel shelf. See Parcel Shelf - Rear Trunk (Remove and Replace).
  5. Fold down the LH 2nd row seat back (60 portion).

    Note
    Release the seat from either button at the seat back or the from trunk switch.
  6. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  7. Disconnect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  8. Perform Vehicle HV Disablement Procedure. See Vehicle HV Disablement Procedure.
  9. Remove the rear trunk load floor. See Trunk Load Floor - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  10. Remove the rear wall rear trunk trim. See Trim - Rear Trunk - Rear Wall (Remove and Replace).
  11. Remove LH trunk load floor bracket. See Bracket - Trunk Load Floor - LH (Remove and Replace).
  12. Remove the trunk floor front trim. See Trim - Front - Floor - Trunk (Remove and Replace).
  13. Release the clips (x2) that attach the LH lower C-pillar interior trim bracket to the body.
  14. Remove the LH trunk side trim. See Trim - Side - Trunk - LH (Remove and Replace).
  15. Remove the charge port to HV battery busbar safety cap. See Safety Cap - Busbar - Charge Port to HV Battery (Remove and Replace).
  16. Remove the nuts (x2) that attach the charge port busbar to charge port, and then remove the busbar leads from the studs.
    9 Nm (6.6 lbs-ft)

    Note
    Nuts have captured washers.
  17. Release the clip that attaches the manual release cable.
  18. Remove the bolt that attaches the charge port harness ground to the body.
    9 Nm (6.6 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket
  19. Disconnect the charge port ECU electrical connectors (x2).
  20. Disconnect the LH taillight electrical connector.
  21. Remove the LH C-pillar support bracket. See Bracket - Support - C-Pillar - LH (Remove and Replace).
  22. Remove the LH 2nd row seat back striker. See Striker - Seat Back - 2nd Row Seat - LH (Remove and Replace).
  23. Disconnect the electrical connector, then remove the nut that attaches the LH rear seatbelt retractor to the body, and then set the retractor aside.
    40 Nm (29.5 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 15 mm socket
  24. Release the clips (x2), then disconnect the electrical connector, and then remove the charge port ECU with ECU bracket from the vehicle.
  25. Release the clips (x9) and bolt that attach the LH body electrical harness to the body.
    9 Nm (6.6 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  26. Remove the LH C-pillar latch closeout panel. See Closeout Panel - Latch - C-Pillar - LH (Remove and Replace).
  27. Remove and discard the bolts (x2) that attach the LH rear door latch to the body.
    10 Nm (7.4 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T30 socket

    Note
    Discard the patched bolts after removal.
  28. Pull the LH rear door latch through the wheelhouse absorber liner.

    Do not fully remove the latch assembly; pull through the wheelhouse absorber liner and leave the liner to the side.
  29. Remove the LH rear wheelhouse insulator.

    Hold the charge port electrical harnesses against the body during removal of the insulator.

Install

  1. Install the LH rear wheelhouse insulator.

    Hold the charge port electrical harnesses against the body during installation of the insulation.
  2. Install the clips (x9) and bolt that attach the LH body wiring harness onto the body.
    9 Nm (6.6 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  3. Install the LH rear door latch through the wheelhouse insulator.
  4. Install new bolts (x2) that attach the LH rear door latch assembly to the body.
    10 Nm (7.4 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T30 socket

    Install new patched bolts.
  5. Install the LH C-pillar latch closeout panel. See Closeout Panel - Latch - C-Pillar - LH (Remove and Replace).
  6. Install the LH 2nd row seat back striker. See Striker - Seat Back - 2nd Row Seat - LH (Remove and Replace).
  7. Connect the electrical connector, and then install the nut that attaches LH rear seatbelt retractor to the body.

    15mm. Torque 40 Nm.
  8. Install the charge port ECU with ECU bracket, and then connect the electrical connector.

    Stud clips (x2)
  9. Install the LH C-pillar support bracket. See Bracket - Support - C-Pillar - LH (Remove and Replace).
  10. Connect the LH taillight electrical connector.
  11. Install the clip that attaches the manual release cable.
  12. Install the charge port harness ground.
    9 Nm (6.6 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket
  13. Connect the charge port ECU electrical connectors (x2).
  14. Clean the charge port busbar contact surface of residual Penetrox with an Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) wipe.

    Note
    Use a plastic trim tool to push the IPA wipe down between the plastic divider. Allow 1 minute for the alcohol to dry before continuing.
  15. Clean the charge port busbar contact surface of residual Penetrox with an IPA wipe.

  16. Apply 2 drops (approximately 5mm in diameter) of Penetrox A-13 to both sides of the busbar leads.

    Spread evenly to verify the contact surface is fully covered.
  17. Install the nuts (x2) that attach the charge port busbar leads to charge port assembly.
    9 Nm (6.6 lbs-ft)

    Note
    Nuts have captured washers. If excessive force is required to seat the busbars, they may have been bent. Inspect for damage and replace the charge port assembly if necessary.
  18. Inspect HV insulating gloves

    Note
    Check gloves for damage prior to use. Refer to service document TN-15-92-003 for information on inspecting HV gloves.
  19. Put on HV insulating gloves and leather over gloves.
  20. Perform Hioki resistance test at each HV joint from HV busbar lead to charge port stud.

    When using Hioki tester, verify the meter has been properly adjusted and set prior to usage.

    Note
    The acceptable resistance is between 0.050 mΩ (50 μΩ) and 0.270 mΩ (270 μΩ). If the resistance is greater than 0.270 mΩ (270 μΩ), there is too much resistance in the High Voltage joint. Remove the fastener, clean areas with isopropyl alcohol, install fastener back and test again. If the resistance is lower than 0.050 mΩ (50 μΩ), reposition the probes and measure again. If the resistance is repeatedly between 0.00 mΩ and 0.050 mΩ (50 μΩ), hioki test passed, proceed to next step.
  21. Remove the leather glove protectors and HV insulating gloves
  22. Install the charge port to HV battery busbar safety cap. See Safety Cap - Busbar - Charge Port to HV Battery (Remove and Replace).
  23. Install the LH trunk side trim. See Trim - Side - Trunk - LH (Remove and Replace).
  24. Install the clips (x7) that attach the LH upper C-pillar trim to the body.

  25. Secure the clips (3) that attach the LH mid C-pillar trim to the body.

  26. Install the LH lower c-pillar interior trim bracket.

  27. Secure the clips (x4) that attach the LH lower C-pillar trim to the LH mid C-pillar trim.
  28. Install the LH and RH 2nd row seat outer bolsters. See Bolster - Outer - Seat - 2nd Row - LH (Remove and Replace).
  29. Install the trunk floor front trim. See Trim - Front - Floor - Trunk (Remove and Replace).
  30. Install LH trunk load floor bracket. See Bracket - Trunk Load Floor - LH (Remove and Replace).
  31. Install the rear wall rear trunk trim. See Trim - Rear Trunk - Rear Wall (Remove and Replace).
  32. Install the rear trunk load floor. See Trunk Load Floor - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  33. Install the rear trunk parcel shelf. See Parcel Shelf - Rear Trunk (Remove and Replace).
  34. Raise the LH 2nd row seat back (60 portion) into the upright and locked position.
  35. Reconnect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  36. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  37. Raise all windows and close all doors.
