Platter Enclosure Coolant (Drain)
Correction code
NOTE: Unless otherwise explicitly
stated in the procedure, the above correction code and FRT reflect all of the work
required to perform this procedure, including the linked procedures. Do not stack correction codes unless
explicitly told to do so.
NOTE: See Flat Rate Times to learn
more about FRTs and how they are created. To provide feedback on FRT values, email ServiceManualFeedback@tesla.com.
NOTE: See Personal Protection to make sure proper PPE is worn when
performing the below
procedure.
- 2023-05-25: Added note that coolant cart pressure regulator is fixed at 20 psi.
Procedure
- Disconnect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
- Raise the vehicle. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
- Remove the front aero shield panel. See Panel - Aero Shield - Front (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the front skid plate. See Skidplate - Front (Remove and Replace).
-
Pull the red locking tab out, and then
pull the tab again to disconnect the electrical harness from the HV battery logic
connector.
-
Pull the red locking tab out, and then
disconnect the electrical harness from the HV battery LV connector.
- Position a coolant drain collector under the front of the vehicle to catch the vehicle coolant.
-
Release the clip and disconnect the 3
way valve to HV battery hose from the HV battery, and then immediately plug the
fittings.
-
Release the clip and disconnect the HV
battery coolant supply hose from the HV battery, and then immediately plug the
fittings.
-
Remove the plug from the HV battery
coolant supply fitting (left), immediately connect the battery flush adapter to the
fitting, and then perform a Push-Pull_Push test of the fittings.
-
Connect the coolant cart flush hose to
the coolant cart regulator.
-
Make sure that the coolant cart
regulator valve is in the closed (vertical) position.
-
Connect the coolant cart flush hose to
the battery flush adapter.
-
Make sure that the P2 battery drain
adapter valve is in the closed (perpendicular to adapter) position.
-
Remove the plug from the HV battery
coolant return fitting (right), immediately connect the P2 battery drain adapter to the
fitting, and then perform a Push-Pull_Push test of the fittings.
-
Connect the coolant cart drain hose to
the coolant drain container.
-
Connect the coolant cart drain hose to
the P2 battery drain adapter.
-
Turn the valve on the P2 battery drain
adapter to the open (parallel to adapter) position.
-
Connect the supply air hose to the
coolant cart supply air connector.
NoteThe pressure regulator is fixed at 20 psi.
-
Slowly turn the pressure regulator
valve to the open (horziontal) position, and allow coolant to drain out of the HV
battery enclosure.
-
After the coolant has drained, turn
the pressure regulator valve to the closed (vertical) postioin.
-
Disconnect the supply air hose from
the coolant cart supply air connector.
-
Turn the valve on the P2 battery drain
adapter to the closed (perpendicular to adapter) position.
-
Remove the coolant cart drain hose
from the P2 battery drain adapter.
-
Remove the coolant cart drain hose
from the coolant drain container.
-
Release the clip, and then disconnect
the P2 battery drain adapter from the HV battery coolant return fitting (right).
-
Disconnect the coolant cart flush hose
from the battery flush adapter.
-
Disconnect the coolant cart flush hose
from the coolant cart regulator.
-
Release the clip, and then disconnect
the battery flush adapter from the HV battery coolant supply fitting (left).
Note1x spring clip.
-
Remove the plugs from both fittings
and immediately connect the HV battery coolant supply hose to the HV battery, fasten the
clip, and perform a Push-Pull-Push check of the fittings.
-
Remove the plugs from both fittings
and immediately connect the 3 way valve to HV battery hose to the HV battery, fasten the
clip, and perform a Push-Pull-Push check of the fittings.
- Remove the coolant drain collector out from under the vehicle.
-
Connect the electrical harness to the
HV battery LV connector, and then push the red locking tab in.
-
Connect the electrical harness to the
HV battery logic connector, and then push the red locking tab in.
- Install the front skid plate. See Skidplate - Front (Remove and Replace).
