Note
This procedure describes work that is
specific to 2025+ Model S.
Remove
- Remove the center console assembly. See Center Console Assembly (Remove and Replace).

Remove the instrument panel sub assembly. See Grille - Speaker - Instrument Panel (2025+) (Remove and Replace).
NoteIt's not necessary to separate the grille from the IP sub assembly.
- Remove the front passenger footrest panel. See Panel - Footrest - Front Passenger (LHD) (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the driver instrument panel duct. See Duct - Instrument Panel - Driver (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the steering column lower shroud. See Shroud - Lower - Steering Column (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the LH instrument panel lower cover. See Cover - Lower - LH - Instrument Panel (2025+) (Remove and Replace).

Release the clips (x4) that attach the
IP harness to the LH and RH center display brackets.

Release the clips (x2) that attach the
IP harness to the center of the IP carrier, and then maneuver the IP harness behind both
center display brackets, and towards the passenger footwell.

Release the clips (x4) that attach the
IP harness to the RH portion of the IP carrier.
-
Release the clips (x2) that attach the
IP harness to the right body controller, and then disconnect the J12 x055 dash connector
at the right body controller.
-
Disconnect the connector to the gaming
MCU.
NoteDepress the lock on the underside of the connector before pulling it out of the socket. Failure to release the lock first may result in damage to the PCBA.

Disconnect the IP harness connectors
(x5) at the LH side of the car computer gaming board.
NoteRelease locks on connectors before removal.

Release the clips (x6) that attach the
IP harness to the lower center of the IP carrier.

Release the clips (x3) that attach the
IP harness to the upper center of the IP carrier.
-
Release the clips (x3) that attach the
IP harness to the LH center of the IP carrier.

Disconnect the steering column control
module assembly connector.
NoteDiscard the retaining clip after removal. The originally installed clip is black, while the replacement clip is orange.

Release the clips (x4) that attach the
IP harness to the left body controller, and disconnect the J12 x035 dash connector at
left body controller and connector x947F.

Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the
IP cowl link to the body.
NoteOnly remove the bolts from the IP carrier and HVAC box.TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket

Remove the IP harness from the
vehicle.
NoteManeuver the RH portion of the IP harness underneath the IP cowl link, and the LH portion of the IP harness up and over the steering column.
Install

Install the IP harness into the
vehicle.
NoteManeuver the RH portion of the IP harness underneath the IP cowl link and into the passenger footwell, and the LH portion of the IP harness up and over the steering column and into the driver footwell.

Align the datums (x2), and then
install the bolts (x2) that attach the IP cowl link to the IP carrier.
6 Nm (4.4 lbs-ft)TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:- 10 mm socket

Connect the J12 x035 dash connector at
the left body controller and connector x947F, and then install the clips (x4) that
attach the IP harness to the vehicle.

Connect the steering column control
module assembly connector.
NotePerform push-pull-push to make sure the connector is seated properly.

Secure the clips (x3) that attach the
IP harness to the LH center of the IP carrier.
-
Secure the clips (x3) that attach the
IP harness at the upper center of the IP carrier.
-
Secure the clips (x6) that attach the
IP harness to the lower center of the IP carrier.
-
Secure the IP harness connectors (x5)
at the LH side of the car computer gaming board.
-
Connect the connector to the gaming
MCU.
NoteVerify the connector is locked into socket.

Secure the clips (x4) that attach the
IP harness to the RH section of the IP carrier.
-
Connect the J12 x055 dash connector at
the right body controller, and then secure the clips (x2).
-
Secure the clips (x2) that attach the
IP harness to the center portion of the IP carrier.
NoteManeuver the IP harness behind both center display brackets, and into position.

Secure the clips (x4) that attach the
IP harness at LH and RH center display brackets.
- Install the LH instrument panel lower cover. See Cover - Lower - LH - Instrument Panel (2025+) (Remove and Replace).
- Install the steering column lower shroud. See Shroud - Lower - Steering Column (Remove and Replace).
- Install the driver instrument panel duct. See Duct - Instrument Panel - Driver (Remove and Replace).
- Install the front passenger footrest panel. See Panel - Footrest - Front Passenger (LHD) (Remove and Replace).
- Install the instrument panel sub assembly. See Grille - Speaker - Instrument Panel (2025+) (Remove and Replace).
- Install the center console assembly. See Center Console Assembly (Remove and Replace).
