Oil Pump - Front Drive Unit (Remove and Replace)

Procedure

  1. Replace the front drive unit oil pump according to the gearbox fluid procedure. See Gearbox Fluid - Front Drive Unit (Drain and Refill).

    Note
    Tesla recommends that the oil filter is replaced with a new one upon removal. Any oil filter with visible corrosion or leaks must be replaced.
  2. Connect a laptop with Toolbox 3 to the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect).
  3. On the vehicle touchscreen, navigate to Service Mode > Software Reinstall, tap Reinstall, and allow the routine to complete.

  4. Unlock the vehicle gateway. See Gateway (Unlock).
  5. In Toolbox, run TEST-SELF_DIF_X_OIL-PUMP-PRESSUREvia Toolbox: (link), and allow the routine to complete.
  6. Disconnect Toolbox and remove the laptop from the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect).
  7. Disable Service Mode. See Service Mode (Enable and Disable).
