Sensor - Parking Distance - Outer - Front (HW3) (Remove and Replace)

Remove

Note
This procedure is applicable to sensors S1, S2, S5, and S6.
  1. Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
  2. Press the brake pedal to turn on the drive rails.
    Tip: Leaving the driver door open keeps the drive rails on.
  3. On the vehicle touchscreen, touch Controls > Suspension > Very High.
  4. On the vehicle touchscreen, touch Controls > Service > Jack Mode to activate Jack Mode.
  5. Turn the steering wheel all the way to the right.
  6. Disconnect LV Power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  7. Remove the push clips that attach the LH front wheel arch liner to the front fascia, and then move the wheel arch liner to the side.
    Tip: Shift the bottom of the wheel arch liner towards the floor and position the top of the liner against the tire.
  8. Disconnect the electrical harness from the parking distance sensor.

    CAUTION
    DO NOT push down on the red locking tab. Pull the tab away from the connector until the connector is unlocked, and then continue pulling to release the connector.
  9. Release the tabs that attach the parking distance sensor to the front fascia, and then remove the sensor from the fascia.

Replace

  1. Position the parking distance sensor on the front fascia, and then attach the sensor to the front fascia.
  2. Connect the electrical harness to the parking distance sensor.

    CAUTION
    Push the red locking tab into the connector to engage the locking mechanism. DO NOT push down or pull up on the red locking tab.
  3. Position the wheel arch liner to the front fascia, and then install the push clips that attach the wheel arch liner to the front fascia.
  4. Connect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).

    Note
    After connecting LV power, do not shift the vehicle to Drive until the Toolbox routine (further below) is performed. Failure to do so can trigger vehicle alerts.
  5. On the vehicle touchscreen, touch Controls > Service > Jack Mode to deactivate Jack Mode.
  6. On the vehicle touchscreen, touch Controls > Suspension > Standard.
  7. Connect a laptop with Toolbox 3 to the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect).
  8. In Toolbox, click the Actions tab, type TEST-RESET_PARKSearch for routine in ToolboxPARK UDS ECU Reset into the search field, click TEST-RESET_PARKSearch for routine in ToolboxPARK UDS ECU Reset, click Run, and then allow the routine to complete.
  9. In Toolbox, click the Actions tab, type "USS Addresses" into the search field, click PROC_USM_FRONT_PROGRAM-USS-ADDRESSESSearch for routine in ToolboxProgram Front Ultrasonic Sensor AddressesDriver Assist / Sensors - Program Front USS, click Run, and then allow the routine to complete.
  10. Disconnect the laptop with Toolbox 3 from the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect).
  11. Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
