Post Guide - Headrest - Driver Seat (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Remove the driver seat from the vehicle. See Seat Assembly - 1st Row - LH (Remove and Replace).
  2. With assistance, place the driver seat on a protected surface so that the underside of the seat can be accessed.
  3. Remove the screw that attaches the driver seat outboard side shield to the seat assembly.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T20 socket
    • 2 in extension
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
  4. Carefully release the clips (x7) that attach the driver seat outboard side shield to the seat assembly, but do not fully remove the side shield from the seat assembly.
  5. Disconnect the electrical harness from the seat switch.
  6. Remove the front seat side shield LH carrier from the driver seat. See .
  7. Remove the driver seat inboard side shield. See Side Shield - Inboard - Driver Seat (Remove and Replace).
  8. Remove the front seat side shield RH carrier from the driver seat. See Carrier - RH - Side Shield - Inboard - Front Seat (Remove and Replace).
  9. Release the seat back elastic straps (x2) from the seat frame.
  10. Disconnect the FSB vent heat pad electrical connector from the driver seat controller.
  11. Release the clip and bracket that attach the FSC and FSB vent heat pad harnesses to the seat assembly, and then remove the harnesses from the assembly.

    Note
    One harness is for the seat cushion and the other is for the seat back. The upper bracket aids in routing while the lower clip secures them.
  12. Remove the driver seat headrest. See Trim - Headrest - Driver (Remove and Replace).
  13. Remove the driver seat back shell. See Shell - Seat Back - Driver (Remove and Replace).
  14. Disconnect the fan controller electrical connector from the seat harness.
  15. Disconnect the driver seat microphone electrical connector, and then release clip that attaches the harness to the driver seat back rest foam.
  16. Release the female side of the microphone connector and harness clips (x2) from the seat back suspension.
  17. Release the trim strap, and then release the trim retainers (x6) that attach the seat back trim retainers to the seat back frame.
  18. Carefully release the driver seat cover from the driver seat, and then set the cover aside for access.
  19. Push down on the tab to release the driver seat side air bag electrical connector, and then disconnect the connector.
  20. Release the clip that attaches the driver seat side airbag harness to the driver seat seat frame.
  21. Remove the bolt that attaches the driver seat backrest lumbar support to the seat back frame.
    5 Nm (3.7 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  22. Release the tabs (x2) that attach the lower portion of the driver seat backrest lumbar support to the seat back frame.
  23. Carefully pull the seat cover and foam assembly away from the frame, and then remove and discard the nuts (x2) that attach the driver seat side air bag to the seat back frame assembly.
    5.4 Nm (4.0 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 11 mm socket
  24. Release the RH side of the driver seat back trim assembly, and then move the trim aside for access.
  25. Release the clip that attaches the driver seat harness to the RH side of seat back frame.
  26. With assistance, remove the driver seat back trim assembly from the seat frame.
  27. Release LH outboard headrest guide post from seat back frame

    2x clips, Press in headrest guide post clips and gently tap base of guide post with hammer to release

Install

  1. Install LH outboard headrest guide post

    2x clips, Insert headrest guide post into seat back frame
  2. With assistance, maneuver the driver seat back trim assembly downward onto the seat frame to install it onto the seat assembly.
  3. Install the clip that attaches the driver seat harness to the RH side of seat back frame.
  4. Carefully secure the RH side of the driver seat back trim onto the driver seat frame.
  5. Install new nuts (x2) that attach the driver seat side air bag to the seat back frame assembly.
    5.4 Nm (4.0 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 11 mm socket
  6. Fasten the tabs (x2) that attach the lower portion of the driver seat backrest lumbar support to the seat back frame.
  7. Install the bolt that attaches the driver seat backrest lumbar support to the seat back frame.
    5 Nm (3.7 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  8. Install the clip that attaches the driver seat side airbag harness to the driver seat seat frame.
  9. Connect the driver seat side air bag electrical connector, and then secure the safety lock.
  10. Carefully secure the LH side of the driver seat seat cover and foam onto the seat frame.
  11. Secure the retainers (x6), and then secure the trim strap onto the driver seat seat back frame.
  12. Secure the female side of microphone connector and harness clips (x2) onto seat back suspension.
  13. Connect the driver seat microphone, and then secure harness clip onto the seat back foam.
  14. Slide the fan controller electrical connector downward to install it onto the bracket, and then connect the electrical connector.
  15. With assistance, align and fully secure the clips that attach the driver seat back shell to the seat assembly.
  16. Install the driver headrest trim. See Trim - Headrest - Driver (Remove and Replace).
  17. Position the driver seat assembly onto the seat back.

    Protect the seat from damage.
  18. Secure the clip and bracket that attach the FSC and FSB vent heat pad harnesses to the seat assembly.

  19. Connect the FSB vent heat pad electrical connector from the seat controller.
  20. Secure the seat back elastic straps (x2) to the seat frame.
  21. Install the front seat side shield RH carrier from the driver seat. See Carrier - RH - Side Shield - Inboard - Front Seat (Remove and Replace).
  22. Install the driver seat inboard side shield. See Side Shield - Inboard - Driver Seat (Remove and Replace).
  23. Install the front seat side shield LH carrier from the driver seat. See .
  24. Connect the electrical harness to the back rest and cushion adjust switch assembly, and then verify the functions of the seat switches.
  25. Position the driver seat outboard side shield onto the seat, and then install the clips (x7) that attach the side shield to the seat.
    Tip: Apply pressure to the side shield to fully seat the clips. The side shield should sit flush against the seat cushion.
  26. Install the screw that attaches the driver seat outboard side shield to the seat assembly.
    4 Nm (2.9 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T20 socket
    • 2 in extension
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
  27. Install the driver seat into the vehicle. See Seat Assembly - 1st Row - LH (Remove and Replace).
