Sub Assembly - Instrument Panel (2025+) (Remove and Replace)

Note
This procedure describes work that is specific to 2025+ Model S.

Remove

  1. Remove the instrument panel speaker grille. See Grille - Speaker - Instrument Panel (2025+) (Remove and Replace).
  2. Remove the screws (x9) that attach the dash speakers (x3) to the instrument panel, and then remove the speakers from the instrument panel.

    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T20 socket
  3. Slightly peel off the LH and RH NVH pad from the IP sub assembly.

    Note
    Take care not to damage the seal.
  4. Disconnect the air wave ventilation connectors (x4).

    Note
    Place the IP sub-assembly upside down on a protective surface to access the connectors.
  5. Remove the screws (x5) that attach the aero glass assembly to the IP sub assembly.

    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T20 socket
  6. Rotate the IP sub assembly forward to release the tabs (x8) that attach the aero glass assembly to the IP sub-assembly.
  7. Remove the aero glass assembly from the IP sub assembly.
  8. Remove the front passenger IP airbag. See Airbag - Front Passenger (Remove and Replace).
  9. Release the push rivets (x2), and then remove the screw that attaches the RH SWD duct from the IP sub-assembly.

  10. Release the push rivets (x2), and then remove the screw that attaches the LH SWD duct from the IP sub-assembly.

  11. Release the clips (x13) that attach the IP sub assembly harness to the IP sub assembly, and then remove the harness from the assembly.

Install

  1. Install the clips (x13) that attach the IP sub assembly harness to the IP sub assembly.
  2. Install the push rivets (x2), and then install the screw that attaches LH SWD duct to IP sub assembly.
    3 Nm (2.2 lbs-ft)

  3. Install the push rivets (x2), and then install the screw that attaches RH SWD duct to IP sub assembly.
    3 Nm (2.2 lbs-ft)

  4. Install the front passenger IP airbag. See Airbag - Front Passenger (Remove and Replace).
  5. Position the aero glass assembly into the IP sub-assembly, and then align the tabs (x8).
  6. Rotate the aero glass assembly rearwards to engage the tabs (x8) that attach the aero glass assembly to the IP sub-assembly.
  7. Install the screws (x5) that attach the aero glass assembly to the instrument panel sub-assembly.
    2.5 Nm (1.8 lbs-ft)

    • Torx T20 socket
  8. Connect the air wave ventilation connectors (x4).
  9. Align the NVH pads (x2), and then install the LH and RH NVH pads onto the IP sub assembly.
  10. Install the screws (x9) that attach the dash speakers (x3) to the instrument panel.
    3 Nm (2.2 lbs-ft)
