Sensor - Radar - Front (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Remove the front fascia assembly. See Fascia Assembly - Front (Remove and Install).
  2. Disconnect the front radar sensor connector.
  3. Release the tabs (x2) that attach the front radar sensor to the bracket, and then release the sensor from the bracket..

    Release the top tab to remove the radar.

Install

  1. Position the front radar sensor to the bracket, and then secure the tabs (x2) that attach the sensor to the bracket.

    Seat the bottom of the sensor first, and the top will clip into place.
  2. Connect the front radar sensor connector.
  3. Install the front fascia assembly. See Fascia Assembly - Front (Remove and Install).
  4. Connect a laptop with Toolbox 3 to the vehicle.
  5. In Toolbox, click UPDATE_CAN-REDEPLOYSearch for routine in ToolboxService CAN RedeployDrive Inverter Replacement / Drive Inverter DIRE1L Replacement - CAN RedeployDrive Inverter Replacement / Drive Inverter DIRE1R Replacement - CAN RedeployDrive Inverter Replacement / Drive Inverter DIRE2 Replacement - CAN RedeployDrive Inverter / Front Drive Inverter Replacement - CAN RedeployDrive Inverter / Rear Drive Inverter Replacement - CAN RedeployDrive Inverter / Rear Left Drive Inverter Replacement - CAN RedeployDrive Inverter / Rear Right Drive Inverter Replacement - CAN RedeployDrive Unit / Front Drive Unit Replacement - CAN RedeployDrive Unit / Rear Drive Unit Replacement - CAN Redeploy, and then click Run and allow the routine to complete.

    Once firmware redeploy is complete, verify on the center display that the release notes are present.

    If the redeploy fails, an error message may appear on the UI.
  6. Close the hood.
  7. In Toolbox, click the Dashboards tab, and then search for "Radar Calibration Dashboard".
  8. Click PROC_RADC_X_PLANT-MODESearch for routine in ToolboxLearn Vehicle Parameters for Continental Radar, and then click Run and allow the routine to complete.

  9. Click Radar Calibration Routine, and then click Run and allow the routine to complete.
  10. Click Calibration Instructions, and then click Run and allow the routine to complete.

    Take the time to read the calibration instructions. Click OK after reading the instructions to close the window.
  11. Click Service Radar Alignment, and then click Run and allow the routine to complete.

    Be prepared to go on a test drive before beginning routine. Shift the vehicle into Drive beforehand. Starting the routine will begin the calibration process. If the drive does not occur process may time out.
  12. Drive the vehicle as instructed by the software, and then monitor the progress bar until radar calibration is complete.

    If the test drive shows the vehicle to track poorly or pull to the side, or if steering is sloppy or off center, then perform a four wheel alignment check. See Four Wheel Alignment Check.

    Note
    Once the calibration process is initiated, be prepared to go for a drive. When driving, keep in the right most lane (if on a multi-lane road), and try to keep the vehicle speed above 30 mph. The routine will take approximately 5 minutes, after which the results will pop-up on the screen.
  13. Disconnect Toolbox and remove the laptop from the vehicle.
