Pipe - Brake Junction to Jounce - LH (Remove and Replace)

Correction code 33030052 2.04 NOTE: Unless otherwise explicitly stated in the procedure, the above correction code and FRT reflect all of the work required to perform this procedure, including the linked procedures. Do not stack correction codes unless explicitly told to do so. NOTE: See Flat Rate Times to learn more about FRTs and how they are created. Remove

  1. Open the LH front door.
  2. Lower the LH front window.
  3. Raise and support the vehicle. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  4. Remove all four wheels. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  5. Lower vehicle partially and set lift onto locks.

    Note
    Raise the lift off locks, and then hold lock release lever to keep locks free while vehicle is lowered. Set vehicle to comfortable working height.
  6. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  7. On the touchscreen, touch Controls > Safety & Security > Power Off.
  8. Disconnect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  9. Remove the front underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Front (Remove and Replace).
  10. Remove the underhood storage access panel. See Underhood Storage Unit Access Panel (Remove and Replace).
  11. Remove the frunk carpet. See Carpet - Underhood Storage (Remove and Replace).
  12. Remove the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Replace).
  13. Remove the LH and RH wiper arms. See Wiper Arm - LH (Remove and Replace).
  14. Remove the LH and RH shock tower covers. See Cover - Shock Tower - LH (Remove and Replace).
  15. Remove the cowl screen panel. See Panel - Cowl Screen (Remove and Replace).
  16. Remove the bolts (x3) that attach the LV battery to the vehicle, and then move the battery aside.

    Note
    Take note of datums (x2) and carefully move battery aside.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 4 in extension
    • 10 mm socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
    • Ratcheting combination wrench flex head 10 mm
  17. Remove the LH shock tower V brace. See V Brace - Shock Tower - LH (Remove and Replace).
  18. Clean the area around the brake fluid reservoir, and then remove the brake reservoir cap.
  19. Remove brake fluid from the brake reservoir.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Oil catch/measure kit - 1541474-00-B
  20. Install the brake reservoir cap.
  21. Disconnect the air quality sensor harness connector.
  22. Release the tabs (x2) that attach the HEPA filter assembly cover to the vehicle.

    CAUTION
    Be cautious and do not damage the mounting clips. Maneuver the cover forward and upwards in front of the V-brace cross member.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Plastic trim tool
  23. Remove the battery controller module. See Module - Battery Controller (Remove and Replace).
  24. Place shop rags underneath the brake lines to catch any fluid lost.
  25. Disconnect the brake fluid level sensor connector.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Pocket screwdriver
  26. Remove the nuts (x2) that attach the flexible brake lines to the master cylinder, and then remove the brake lines from the master cylinder.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Ratcheting combination wrench flex head 12mm
  27. Move the flexible brake lines behind the brake fluid reservoir.
  28. Place shop rags underneath the front brake pipe junction block to catch any fluid lost.
  29. Place shop rags underneath the front end of the LH brake junction to jounce pipe to catch any fluid lost.
  30. Remove the nut that attaches the rear end of the LH brake junction to jounce pipe to the junction block, and then remove the pipe from the junction block.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Ratcheting combination wrench flex head 12mm
  31. Remove the nut that attaches the front end of the LH brake junction to jounce pipe to the jounce hose, and then remove the pipe from the jounce hose.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Ratcheting combination wrench flex head 12mm
  32. Release the clips (x3) that attach the LH brake junction to jounce pipe to the vehicle.

    CAUTION
    Do not bend the pipe.
  33. Carefully remove the LH brake junction to jounce pipe from the vehicle as follows:
    1. Guide the front end of the pipe up and over the AC compressor.
    2. Guide the rear end of the pipe under the steering column, and then over the body casting.
    3. Guide the pipe towards the front of the vehicle between the multi-system beam and AC compressor, and then tilt the pipe into vertical position.
    4. Guide the rear end of the pipe out of the vehicle.

    CAUTION
    Do not bend the pipe during removal.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Clip pry tool

Install

  1. Carefully position the LH brake junction to jounce pipe on the vehicle as follows:
    1. Guide the rear end of the pipe between the multi-system beam and AC compressor in a vertical position.
    2. Tilt the pipe into a horizontal position, and then guide towards the rear of the vehicle.
    3. Guide the rear end of the pipe over the body casting and under the steering column.
    4. Guide the front end of the pipe over the AC compressor, and then position for installation.

    CAUTION
    Do not bend the pipe during installation.
  2. Install the clips (x3) that attach the LH brake junction to jounce pipe to the vehicle.

  3. Install the nut that attaches the front end of the LH brake junction to jounce pipe to the jounce hose.
    16 Nm (11.8 lbs-ft)

    Note
    Clean the pipe with brake cleaner before installation as necessary.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • ¼ in to 3/8 in adapter
    • 3/8 in open crowfoot socket 12mm
    • Ratcheting combination wrench flex head 12mm
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
  4. Install the nut that attaches the rear end of the LH brake junction to jounce pipe to the junction block.
    16 Nm (11.8 lbs-ft)

    Note
    Clean the pipe with brake cleaner before installation as necessary.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • ¼ in to 3/8 in adapter
    • 3/8 in open crowfoot socket 12mm
    • Ratcheting combination wrench flex head 12mm
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
  5. Remove the shop rags from underneath the front end of the LH brake junction to jounce pipe.
  6. Remove the shop rags from underneath the LH brake junction to jounce pipe junction block.
  7. Release the flexible brake lines from behind the master cylinder, and position for installation.
  8. Install the nuts (x2) that attach the flexible brake lines to the master cylinder.
    16 Nm (11.8 lbs-ft)

    Note
    Clean the lines with brake cleaner before installation as necessary.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • ¼ in to 3/8 in adapter
    • 3/8 in open crowfoot socket 12mm
    • Ratcheting combination wrench flex head 12mm
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
  9. Connect the brake fluid level sensor connector.
  10. Remove the shop rags from underneath the brake lines.

    Note
    Clean up any residual fluid lost.
  11. Install the battery controller module. See Module - Battery Controller (Remove and Replace).
  12. Install the tabs (x2) that attach the HEPA filter assembly cover to the vehicle.

    Maneuver the cover downward and under the V-brace cross member. Fully engage the seal and locking tabs.
  13. Connect the air quality sensor harness connector.
  14. Install the LH shock tower V brace. See V Brace - Shock Tower - LH (Remove and Replace).
  15. Install the bolts (x3) that attach the LV battery to the vehicle.
    9 Nm (6.6 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 4 in extension
    • 10 mm socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
    • Ratcheting combination wrench flex head 10 mm
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
  16. Install the cowl screen panel. See Panel - Cowl Screen (Remove and Replace).
  17. Install the LH and RH wiper arms. See Wiper Arm - LH (Remove and Replace).
  18. Install the LH and RH shock tower covers. See Cover - Shock Tower - LH (Remove and Replace).
  19. Connect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  20. Clean the area around the brake fluid reservoir, and then remove brake reservoir cap.
  21. Perform a brake fluid flush. Brake Fluid Bleed/Flush (Remove and Replace).
  22. Install the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Replace).
  23. Install the frunk carpet. See Carpet - Underhood Storage (Remove and Replace).
  24. Install the underhood storage access panel. See Underhood Storage Unit Access Panel (Remove and Replace).
  25. Install the front underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Front (Remove and Replace).
  26. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  27. Raise the vehicle partially and lower onto locks.

    Note
    Set the vehicle to a comfortable working height. Make sure there's an audible click of the locks on both sides before lowering, otherwise vehicle may tilt to the side.
  28. Install all four wheels. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  29. Lower the vehicle. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  30. Raise the LH front window.
  31. Close the LH front door.
  32. Perform a post-repair validation test drive and ensure proper brake pedal feel and performance.
    Important: Add correction code 00040100 to account for time.
