Fascia Assembly - Front (Remove and Install)

Correction code 10011001 0.36 NOTE: Unless otherwise explicitly stated in the procedure, the above correction code and FRT reflect all of the work required to perform this procedure, including the linked procedures. Remove

  1. Press brake pedal to turn on drive rails.
  2. Set air suspension ride height to “Very High” and place the vehicle into "Jack Mode".
  3. Turn steering wheel fully to the right.
  4. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  5. Remove the LH and RH underhood aprons. See Underhood Apron - LH (Remove and Replace).
  6. Remove the front underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Front (Remove and Replace).
  7. Remove the bolts (x6) that attach the front fascia bracket to the carrier.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
    • 4 in extension
  8. Remove the push clips (x5) that attach the LH front wheel arch liner to the front fascia, and then move the liner to the side for access.

    Note
    Newer vehicles have a T30 bolt (torque 2 Nm) at the lower front corner of the wheel arch liner that must also be removed.

  9. Remove the bolt that attaches the front fascia to the LH fender bracket.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T25 socket - older vehicles
    • 5 mm socket - new vehicles
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
    • 4 in extension
  10. Press the brake pedal to turn on drive rails.
  11. Turn the steering wheel fully to the left.
  12. Repeat steps 8 and 9 for the RH side of the vehicle.
  13. Apply protective tape to the edges of the LH and RH front fenders that are adjacent to the front fascia.

    Note
    This is to prevent fender paint damage when releasing the front fascia from the vehicle.

  14. Disconnect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect)
  15. Disconnect the front fascia electrical connectors (x2).

    Note
    DO NOT push down on the red locking tab. Pull the tab away from the connector until the connector is unlocked, and then continue pulling to release the connector.

    Newer vehicles have 1 electrical connector instead of 2 electrical connectors.

  16. Remove the bolts (x8), then release the clips (x2) that attach the front fascia valance to the front aero shield, and then release the valance from the aero shield.
    6 Nm (4.4 lbs-ft)

    Note
    Do not remove middle bolts (x3).
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
    • 4 in extension
  17. With assistance, release the front fascia assembly from the fender brackets, and then pull the fascia forward to remove it from the vehicle.

    Note
    Set fascia on a padded surface.

Install

  1. With assistance, install the front fascia onto the vehicle, and then secure the fascia to the fender brackets

    Note
    Route the fascia harness while installing. Verify the front fascia valance sits under the front aero shield before proceeding.
  2. Remove the protective tape from the LH and RH front fenders.
  3. Apply Loctite 222 to the fasteners, and then install the bolts (x8) that attach the front fascia valance to the front aero shield panel.
    6 Nm (4.4 lbs-ft)

    Insert the valance datums into the aero shield holes.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
    • 4 in extension
  4. Connect the front fascia harness electrical connectors (x2), and then engage the connector lock.

  5. Install the bolt that attaches the front fascia to the RH fender bracket.
    5 Nm (3.7 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T25 socket - older vehicles
    • 5 mm socket - new vehicles
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
    • 4 in extension
  6. Install the push clips (x5) that attach the RH front wheel liner to the front fascia.
  7. Connect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect)
  8. Press brake pedal to turn on drive rails.
  9. Turn the steering wheel fully to the right.
  10. Install the bolt that attaches the front fascia to the LH fender bracket.
    5 Nm (3.7 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T25 socket - older vehicles
    • 5 mm socket - new vehicles
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
    • 4 in extension
  11. Install push clips (x5) that attach the LH front wheel liner to the front fascia.

  12. Install the bolts (x6) that attach the front fascia bracket to the carrier.
    4 Nm (2.9 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
    • 4 in extension
  13. Install the front underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Front (Remove and Replace).
  14. Install the LH and RH underhood aprons. See Underhood Apron - LH (Remove and Replace).
  15. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  16. Press the brake pedal to turn on drive rails.
  17. Turn the steering wheel back to the center position.
  18. Remove the air suspension from "Jack Mode" and set to "Standard".
