Striker - Liftgate (Remove and Replace)

Torque Specifications

Bolts that attach the liftgate striker to the vehicle
10 Nm (7.4 lbs-ft)
  • Torx T30 socket
  • 6 in extension
  • Ratchet/torque wrench
Reuse

Remove

  1. Open the liftgate.
  2. Release the six clips that attach the sill panel to the vehicle, and then remove the sill panel from the vehicle.
  3. Use masking tape to mark the position of the liftgate striker to the vehicle.
  4. Remove the two bolts that attach the liftgate striker to vehicle, and then remove the liftgate striker from the vehicle.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T30 socket
    • 6 in extension
    • Ratchet/torque wrench

Install

  1. Using the masking tape as a guide, install the liftgate striker to the vehicle, but do not fully torque the bolts.
  2. Close the liftgate and use the gap and flush tool to verify the liftgate alignment is within specification.
  3. Open the liftgate and adjust the striker position as necessary.
  4. Torque the bolts that attach the liftgate striker to the vehicle.
    10 Nm (7.4 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T30 socket
    • 6 in extension
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
  5. Remove masking tape around the liftgate striker.
  6. Position the six clips that attach the sill panel to the vehicle, and then install the sill panel to the vehicle.
  7. Close the liftgate.
