Brake Rotors - Front - Set (Remove and Replace)

Correction code 33011302 0.42 NOTE: Unless otherwise explicitly stated in the procedure, the correction code and its associated FRT reflect all of the work required to perform this procedure, including the linked procedures. Do not stack correction codes unless explicitly told to do so. NOTE: See Flat Rate Times to learn more about FRTs and how they are created. NOTE: See Personal Protection to make sure proper PPE is worn when performing the below procedure.

  • 2025-05-08: Added brake pad burnishing step to be performed after rotor replacement.

Remove

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  2. Remove both front wheels. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  3. Remove the bolt that attaches the brake hose to the LH front knuckle.
  4. Remove the LH front brake caliper from the LH front knuckle.
    Note
    Hang the brake caliper from the body of the vehicle with S-hooks.
  5. If installed, remove and discard the bolt that attaches the brake rotor to the hub.
    Note
    A new bolt will not be installed.
    Tip
    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket
  6. Repeat step 3 through step 5 for the RH side of the vehicle.

Install

  1. Position the LH front rotor to the knuckle assembly.
    Note
    It is not necessary to install the bolt that attaches the rotor to the hub.
  2. Remove the S-hook and install the bolts that attach the LH front brake caliper to the LH front knuckle.
    Note
    2x bolts, 21mm, 135 Nm
  3. Install the bolt that attaches the brake hose to the LH front knuckle.
    Note
    1x bolt, 10mm, 6 Nm
  4. Repeat step 1 through step 3 for the RH side of the vehicle.
  5. Install both front wheels. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  6. Lower the vehicle.
  7. Press the brake pedal to seat the brake pads to the rotors.
  8. Burnish the brakes. See Brake Pads - Burnishing.
    Note
    During vehicle driving, make sure that proper brake pedal feel and performance is achieved.
    Note
    Add the correction code for brake pad burnishing 33013000 as a separate correction within the same activity to the Service Visit.
