Hose - HV Battery to LH Front Sill (Remove and Replace)

- Open LH front door
- Lower LH front window

Raise and support vehicle
NoteSet air suspension to "Jack Mode"

Open hood
NoteUsing center display touchscreen > Quick Controls > Frunk Open

Remove rear underhood apron
Note8x clips
-
Power off vehicle from center display
NoteVia Controls > Safety & Security > Power Off
-
Disconnect LV battery connector and First Responder Loop
Note2x connectors, Lift up and release green locking tab, Pull black connector lock outwards to release connection

Remove LH front wheel cap
NoteLift every other spoke at a time until cap is released from rim
-
Loosen LH front wheel
Note5x nuts, 21mm, 175 Nm
-
Raise vehicle partially and lower onto locks
NoteSet vehicle to comfortable working height, Make sure there's an audible click of the locks on both sides before lowering, otherwise vehicle may tilt to the side

Remove LH front wheel
Note5x nuts, 21mm, 175 Nm
-
Release clips securing front portion of the LH front wheel house liner
Note7x clips, Move aside for access
-
Remove clips securing rear portion of the LH front wheel house liner and remove from vehicle
Note6x clips
-
Raise vehicle fully and lower lift onto locks
NoteSet vehicle to comfortable working height, Make sure there's an audible click of the locks on both sides before lowering, otherwise vehicle may tilt to the side

Remove clips securing front aero shield
Note5x push clips
-
Remove bolts securing front aero shield and remove from vehicle
Note9x bolts, 10mm, 6 Nm
-
Remove clips securing front aero shield
Note5x push clips
-
Release clips securing wheel house liner to front skid plate
Note4x clips
-
Remove bolts securing front skid plate to body sill
Note2x bolts, 15mm, 30 Nm
-
Remove bolts securing front skid plate to body casting
Note2x bolts, 15mm, 60 Nm
-
Remove bolts securing front skid plate to front subframe and remove skid plate
Note4x bolts, 15mm, 70 Nm, 2x bolts, 10mm, 10 Nm
-
Release clip securing ground cable to battery
Note1x clip
-
Remove bolt securing ground cable to HV battery and move cable aside
Note1x bolt, 10mm, 10 Nm
-
Position coolant drain container under the front of the vehicle to catch vehicle coolant
-
Release LH front sill coolant hose
Note1x hose clip, Plug both ends of the hoses
-
Release LH sill coolant hose clips to body and pack
Note3x clips
-
Place foldable funnel and absorbent material under PCS hose
NotePlace funnel and absorbent material underneath coolant hose
-
Release PCS outlet hose from HV battery
Note1x hose clip, Plug HV battery

Remove foldable funnel and absorbent material from under PCS hose
NoteRemove all material
-
Release clip securing PCS hose to HV battery
Note1x clip, Be careful when releasing clip and do not damage the HV battery casing
-
Remove PCS outlet hose from vehicle
NoteRemove any coolant plugs from hose, Carefully maneuver hose out from in-between HV battery and vehicle body, Note orientation of the hose during removal

Install PCS outlet hose into vehicle
NoteCarefully maneuver hose in between HV battery and vehicle body, Note orientation of the hose during install

Securing clip attaching PCS hose to HV battery
Note1x clip
-
Secure LH sill coolant hose clips to body and pack
Note3x clips
-
Secure LH front sill coolant hose
Note1x hose clip, 2x hose plugs, Remove plugs and secure hose. Perform push-pull-push test
-
Place foldable funnel and absorbent material under PCS hose
NotePlace funnel and absorbent material underneath coolant hose

Secure PCS outlet hose onto HV battery
Note1x hose clip, Remove any plugs and secure hose. Perform push-pull-push test

Remove foldable funnel and absorbent material from under PCS hose
NoteRemove all material
- Clean area and wipe away any residual fluid
-
Route and install bolt securing ground cable to HV battery
Note1x bolt, 10mm, 10 Nm
-
Install clip securing ground cable to battery
Note1x clip
-
Remove coolant drain container from underneath vehicle
-
Position front skid plate for installation and thread in all bolts
Note4x bolts, 15mm, 70 Nm, 2x bolts, 15mm, 60 Nm, 2x bolts, 15mm, 30 Nm, 2x bolts, 10mm, 10 Nm, Torque at later step

Torque bolts securing front skid plate to body casting
Note2x bolts, 15mm, 60 Nm
-
Torque bolts securing front skid plate to body sill
Note2x bolts, 15mm, 30 Nm
-
Torque bolts securing front skid plate to front subframe
Note4x bolts, 15mm, 70 Nm, 2x bolts, 10mm, 10 Nm
-
Secure clips securing wheel house liner to front skid plate
Note4x clips
-
Apply Loctite 222 onto front aero shield bolts and install fasteners securing front aero shield to vehicle
Note9x bolts, 10mm, 6 Nm
-
Install clips securing front aero shield
Note5x push clips
-
Lower vehicle partially and set lift onto locks
NoteRaise lift off locks, then hold lock release lever to keep locks free while vehicle is lowered, Set vehicle to comfortable working height

Install LH front wheel house liner and secure clips for rear half
Note6x clips
-
Install clips securing front portion of the LH front wheel house liner
Note7x clips, Secure liner
-
Install LH front wheel
Note5x nuts, 21mm, 175 Nm, Start lug nuts by hand before using power tool
-
Lower vehicle until tires are touching the ground
NoteRaise lift off locks, then hold lock release lever to keep locks free while vehicle is lowered

Torque LH front wheel
Note5x nuts, 21mm, 175 Nm
-
Install LH front wheel cap
NoteAlign valve stem with cap
-
Remove coolant bottle cap
-
Inspect coolant level and top off as necessary
NoteEnsure that the fluid level is at the Max line, Top off fluid as required
-
Connect First Responder Loop and LV battery connector
Note2x connectors Secure FRL first, Seat LV battery connection and push black connector lock inwards to secure, Engage green locking tab when fully seated

Release IP service panel
Note2x tabs, 4x datums, Release top tabs and slide rearward

Using laptop connect to vehicle with ethernet diag kit and Toolbox 3
NoteOpen Toolbox 3 website and establish connection to the vehicle, https://toolbox.teslamotors.com, For local connection issues with Toolbox 3 refer to article #43695, Media converter box is powered by laptop USB or 12v power outlet, Ethernet connection will provide communication

Select ‘Actions/Autodiag’ tab and search for ‘Purge'

NoteMake sure vehicle is not in drive state, Plan is still running despite the stop message, Coolant pumps will be audible, Test lasts approximately 10 mins, Putting vehicle into drive state will stop this routine, Monitor levels as required

Disconnect Toolbox 3 from vehicle and remove laptop and ethernet diag kit

Install IP service panel
Note2x tabs, 4 datums, Slide forward engaging datums then secure tabs upward into IP

Inspect coolant level and top off as necessary
NoteEnsure that the fluid level is at the Max line

Install coolant bottle cap
-
Install rear underhood apron
Note8x clips
-
Close hood
NotePress firmly in green highlighted areas (see image), Damage may result from pressure elsewhere on hood

Remove vehicle from lift
NoteLower rack arms fully and remove them from under vehicle, Remove air suspension from "Jack Mode"
- Raise LH front window
- Close LH front door
