Procedure
- 
        Gently lift the wiper arms away from the
          windshield to access the wiper blades, and then clean the wiper blades (x2) with isopropyl
          (rubbing) alcohol, especially the edge of the wiper blades.
        CAUTIONIf wiper blades show degradation and need to be replaced, recommend customers to replace the wiper blades to prevent reduced camera visibility performance.CAUTIONDo not lift a wiper arm beyond its intended position.NoteRemind customers to periodically clean the edge of the wiper blades as instructed in the Owner's Manual.
- Apply glass cleaner onto a microfiber towel to clean the outside surface of the front windshield, then use a second dry microfiber towel to wipe the windshield in a circular motion until the windshield is basically dry. Verify the windshield has no stains or residue, then allow 1 minute to fully dry.
- 
        Use an LED flashlight to illuminate the
          outside surface of the windshield in the forward facing camera area, inspect for presence
          of any haze, fogginess, stains and residue on the inside of the windshield. Hold the
          flashlight towards you as shown in the images.

- 
        On the touchscreen, tap the Service Mode
          "wrench" (at the bottom of the touchscreen UI), and then tap , select Main/Wide/Narrow tabs to preview all forward facing cameras and assess the
          visual clarity.
        - If no residue or dirt is visible across all camera lenses, remove this code from the activity and continue diagnosis.
- If the image is blurry or the visuals are impeded, continue to clean the windshield and camera lenses.
 
- Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
- 
          Remove the lower camera cover. See
              Camera Cover - Lower (Remove and Replace).

          Remove the rear view mirror. See Mirror - Rear View (Remove and Replace).

          Carefully pull down on the upper
            camera cover to release the clips (x4), disconnect the electrical connectors (x3), and
            then remove the cover assembly from the vehicle.

          Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the
            glare shield assembly to the windshield, release the assembly from the windshield, and

- 
        Clean the inside surface of the
          windshield in the forward facing camera area as follow:
        - Apply glass cleaner onto a clean microfiber towel and use the towel to wipe the entire area.
- Use another dry microfiber towel to wipe the entire area.
- Inspect and verify that the entire area is free of any hazing, fogginess, stains and residue.
 NoteClean the entire area thoroughly, including the edges and corners.NoteFor HW4 vehicles, pay special attention to ensure the notch is also clean (see picture for notch location).NoteWhile cleaning, use the camera preview feature to ensure that the towel reaches all the way up into the cavity and that the glass area directly in front of the camera is cleaned properly.Figure 8. - 
        Clean the forward facing camera lenses
          as follows:
        - Apply glass cleaner onto a clean microfiber towel and use the towel to wipe each lens.
- Before the lens surface dries, use a dry clean microfiber towel to clean the lens.
- Using camera preview, verify the lenses are free of any stains or residue.
 
- Repeat step 3. Use an LED flashlight to inspect the inside of windshield again. If any haze, fogginess, stains or residue presents, re-clean the windshield and camera lenses.
- 
          Install the glare shield. See Glare Shield - Autopilot (Remove and Replace).

          Install the upper camera cover. See
              Upper Cover - Rear View Mirror (Remove and Replace).

          Install the rear view mirror. See

          Install the lower camera cover. See
              Camera Cover - Lower (Remove and Replace).

- For vehicles which are on firmware version 2024.26.X OR fsd-eap-12-4-1 or newer, continue to perform the following steps. For vehicles with earlier firmware and autopilot versions, terminate the procedure.
- Locally connect a laptop with Toolbox 3 to the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect).
- Unlock the vehicle gateway. See Gateway (Unlock)
- 
        On the vehicle touchscreen, perform the following steps:
        
- Exit Service Mode. See Service Mode (Enable and Disable).
- Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
