Module - Body Controller - Security (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Open the LH front door and lower the front windows.
  2. Move the driver seat rearward.
  3. Remove the LH sun visor bezel A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Sun Visor Bezel - LH (Remove and Replace)
  4. Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the LH upper A-pillar trim to the vehicle.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket
  5. Remove the screw that attaches the LH upper A-pillar trim to the vehicle.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 20 mm socket
  6. Remove and discard the nut that attaches the LH upper A-pillar trim to the vehicle.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  7. Release the clips (x6) that attach the LH upper A-pillar trim to the A-pillar, and then move the trim aside to gain access to the headliner.
  8. Remove the screw that attaches the LH front of the headliner to the vehicle.
    2 Nm (1.5 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T20 socket
  9. Open the RH front door.
  10. Repeat step 2 through step 8 for the RH side of the vehicle.
  11. Release the clips (x4) that attach the front portion of headliner to the body, and then release the front edge of the headliner from the body.
  12. Disconnect the security body controller module electrical connector.
  13. Remove the bolt that attaches the security body controller module to the vehicle.
    9 Nm (6.6 lbs-ft)

    Note
    The bolt is captive inside the controller housing and cannot be removed.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T30 socket
  14. Release the clip and guide pin that attach the security body controller module to the vehicle, and then remove the module from the vehicle.

Install

  1. Position the security body controller module into the vehicle, and then secure the clip and guide pin that attach the module to the vehicle.
  2. Install the bolt that attaches the security body controller module to the vehicle.
    9 Nm (6.6 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T30 socket
  3. Connect the security body controller module electrical connector.
  4. Secure the clips (x4) that attach the front portion of headliner to the body.
  5. Install the screw that attaches the LH front of the headliner to the vehicle.
    2 Nm (1.5 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T20 socket
  6. Position the LH upper A-pillar trim to the A-pillar, and then secure the clips (x6) that attach the trim to the vehicle.

    Align the datums into the instrument panel sub assembly.

    Rotate trim into position to full engage the clips.
  7. Install a new nut that attaches the LH upper A-pillar trim to the vehicle.
    5 Nm (3.7 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  8. Install the screw that attaches the LH upper A-pillar trim to the vehicle.
    2.5 Nm (1.8 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T20 socket
  9. Install the bolts (x2) that attach the LH upper A-pillar trim to the vehicle.
    5 Nm (3.7 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket
  10. Install the LH sun visor bezel A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Sun Visor Bezel - LH (Remove and Replace).
  11. Move the front passenger seat to the original position.
  12. Close the RH front door.
  13. Repeat step 5 through step 11 for the RH side of the vehicle.
  14. Connect a laptop with Toolbox 3 to the vehicle.
  15. In Toolbox, click the Actions tab, and then search for "Service-Redeploy".
  16. Click SERVICE CAN REDEPLOY, and then click Run and allow the routine to complete.

  17. Touch the clock on the center display, or go to the Software tab, and then touch Install Now to start firmware update.

    Select Install Now. Tap the countdown timer until the clock runs down to 0. Check the center display and ensure the firmware package was successfully installed.
  18. Once firmware redeploy is complete, verify on the center display that the release notes are present.

    If the redeploy fails you may receive an error message on the UI.
  19. Click the Actions tab, and then search for "VCSEC".
  20. For vehicles running firmware versions 2023.44 upto, but not including, 2024.8, select PROC_VCSEC_X_SET-ROOT-KEY-TO-ALL-REGIONSSearch for routine in ToolboxSwitch root key to a ALL_REGIONS, and then click Run and allow the routine to complete.
  21. Select PROC_VCSEC_X_POST-REPLACEMENT-PROCEDURESearch for routine in ToolboxVCSEC post replacement procedureLow Voltage / Keys - VCSEC Post ReplacementLowVoltage / VCSEC Post Replacement - VCSEC Post Replacement Procedure, and then click Run and allow the routine to complete.
  22. Select PROC_VCSEC_C_PAIR-NFC-CARD-V2Search for routine in ToolboxNFC Key Card PairLow Voltage / Keys - Pair Key, and then click Run.
  23. Place the NFC card(s) on the console phone dock.
  24. Input the number of keys to be paired to the vehicle, click Run Network, and allow the routine to complete.

  25. Check the functionality of the programmed NFC keys.

    Tap the driver side exterior B-pillar area to lock/unlock the vehicle and the center console phone dock to start the vehicle.
  26. Disconnect Toolbox 3 and remove the laptop from the vehicle.
  27. Raise the front windows and close the LH front door.
  28. Inform the customer that the new security body controller will not recognize any previously paired phone key. The customer must delete and re-pair their phone key to the vehicle, if they were previously using this feature. Instructions are available in the Owners Manual, and at the DIY web pages.
