Hose - RH Front Sill to Underhood (Remove and Replace)

  1. Open LH front door
  2. Lower LH and RH front windows
  3. Place vehicle in service mode with touchscreen

    Select vehicle's badge icon in Controls > Software for four seconds and then type "service" into dialog box
  4. Raise and support vehicle

    Prepare to raise vehicle, Set air suspension to "Jack Mode", Position lift arm pads on vehicle jack pads, DO NOT position the lift arm pads under the battery or side rails, as shown in red
  5. Remove the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Install).
  6. Power off vehicle via center display

  7. Disconnect LV battery connector and First Responder Loop

    2x connectors, Lift up and release green locking tab, Pull black connector lock outwards to release connection, Release red lock tab on FRL
  8. Remove RH front wheel center cap

  9. Loosen RH front wheel

    5x nuts, 21mm, 175 Nm
  10. Raise vehicle partially and lower onto locks

    Set vehicle to comfortable working height, Make sure there's an audible click of the locks on both sides before lowering, otherwise vehicle may tilt to the side
  11. Remove RH front wheel

  12. Release rear portion of RH front fender garnish

    3x clips, 2x tabs, Starting from the rear release garnish to access rocker
  13. Remove RH front wheel liner

    2x push-nuts, 11x RVT push-pull
  14. Position coolant drain container underneath front of vehicle

    Position to catch all coolant loss
  15. Raise vehicle fully and lower lift onto locks

  16. Remove clips securing front aero shield

  17. Remove bolts securing front aero shield and remove from vehicle

    9x bolts, 10mm, 6 Nm
  18. Remove bolts securing front skid plate to body sill

    2x bolts, 15mm, 30 Nm
  19. Remove bolts securing front skid plate to body casting

    2x bolts, 15mm, 60 Nm
  20. Remove bolts securing front skid plate to front subframe and remove skid plate

    4x bolts, 15mm, 70 Nm, 2x bolts, 10mm, 10 Nm
  21. Disconnect RH sill to underhood hose from RH side sill PT return hose

    1x spring clip, Plug hoses as needed, Use shop towel to clean any residue coolant inside RH rocker panel as necessary
  22. Disconnect RH sill to underhood hose from FDU heat exchanger junction hose

    1x spring clip, Place shop towel under hose connection to catch some coolant when disconnected, Plug hoses as needed, Use shop towel to wipe residue coolant on HV battery cover and ancillary bay cover
  23. Release RH sill to underhood hose clips from body

  24. Remove RH sill to underhood hose from vehicle

    Remove coolant plug on side sill return hose end and drain coolant, Carefully maneuver hose out from in-between HV battery and vehicle body, Note orientation of hose during removal
  25. Install RH sill to underhood hose to vehicle

    Install coolant plug to FDU heat exchanger junction hose end when installing, Once coolant hose is maneuvered through HV battery and body install plug back into side sill return hose end, Note orientation of hose during install
  26. Secure RH sill to underhood hose clips to body

  27. Connect RH sill to underhood hose to FDU heat exchanger junction hose

    1x spring clip, Place shop towel under connection to catch some coolant when disconnecting plugs from hose, Unplug hoses as needed, Use shop towel to wipe residue coolant on HV battery cover and ancillary bay cover
  28. Connect RH sill to underhood hose to RH side sill PT return hose

    1x spring clip, Unplug hoses as needed, Use shop towel to clean any residue coolant inside RH rocker panel as necessary, Perform push-pull-push method
  29. Remove coolant drain container from underneath vehicle
  30. Position front skid plate for installation and thread in all bolts

  31. Torque bolts securing front skid plate to body casting

  34. Apply Loctite 222 onto front aero shield bolts and install fasteners securing front aero shield to vehicle

  35. Install clips securing front aero shield

  36. Lower vehicle partially and set lift onto locks

    Raise lift off locks, then hold lock release lever to keep locks free while vehicle is lowered, Set vehicle to comfortable working height
  37. Install RH front wheel liner

    2x push-nuts, 11x RVT push-pull, insert LH side tab at top of wheel liner into RH side slot, ensure proper positioning of bottom edge of wheel liner
  38. Spray area with brake cleaner and wipe residual fluid off with towel
  39. Secure rear portion of RH front fender garnish

  40. Install RH front wheel

    5x nuts, 21mm, 175 Nm, Start lug nuts by hand before using power tool
  41. Lower vehicle fully

    Raise lift off locks, then hold lock release lever to keep locks free while vehicle is lowered
  42. Torque RH front wheel

    5x nuts, 21mm, 175 Nm
  43. Install RH front wheel center cap

    1x cap, Verify emblem is aligned with valve stem
  44. Remove coolant bottle cap
  45. Inspect coolant level and top off as necessary

    Ensure that the fluid level is at the Max line, Top off fluid as required
  46. Connect First Responder Loop and LV battery connector

    2x connectors, Secure FRL first, Seat LV battery connection and push black connector lock inwards to secure, Engage upper locking tab when fully seated
  47. Access thermal system routines using the UI

    Select quick controls > Service mode > Diagnostics > Thermal, Authorize routines by holding right turn signal, depressing brake pedal for 10 seconds with key on phone dock
  48. Select 'Start' button at 'Start Coolant Air Purge' using the UI and ‘TEST_VCFRONT_X_THERMAL-COOLANT-AIR-PURGEvia Toolbox: (link)via Service Mode:
    • Thermal ➜ Actions ➜ Coolant Purge Stop or Coolant Purge Start
    • Thermal ➜ Coolant System ➜ Coolant Purge Start
    via Service Mode Plus:
    • Drive Inverter ➜ Front Drive Inverter Replacement ➜ Coolant Air Purge
    • Drive Inverter ➜ Rear Drive Inverter Replacement ➜ Coolant Air Purge
    • Drive Inverter ➜ Rear Left Drive Inverter Replacement ➜ Coolant Air Purge
    • Drive Inverter ➜ Rear Right Drive Inverter Replacement ➜ Coolant Air Purge
    • Drive Unit ➜ Front Drive Unit Replacement ➜ Coolant Air Purge
    • Drive Unit ➜ Rear Drive Unit Replacement ➜ Coolant Air Purge

    Coolant pumps will be audible, Test lasts approximately 10 mins, Putting vehicle into drive state will stop this routine, Monitor levels as required, Select ‘X’ at top left of window to close once complete
  49. Inspect coolant level and top off as necessary

    Ensure that the fluid level is at the Max line, Top off fluid as required
  50. Install coolant bottle cap
  51. Install the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Install).
  52. Exit Service Mode

    Controls>Software select Exit Service Mode button
  53. Remove vehicle from lift

    Lower rack arms fully and remove them from under vehicle, Remove air suspension from "Jack Mode"
  54. Calibrate the rear doors.

    If the "Calibration Needed" message appears on the vehicle touchscreen, touch and hold Calibrate to calibrate the rear doors.
  55. Raise LH and RH front windows
  56. Close LH front door
