Hose - RH Front Sill to Underhood (Remove and Replace)

- Open LH front door
- Lower LH and RH front windows

Place vehicle in service mode with touchscreen
NoteSelect vehicle's badge icon in Controls > Software for four seconds and then type "service" into dialog box

Raise and support vehicle
NotePrepare to raise vehicle, Set air suspension to "Jack Mode", Position lift arm pads on vehicle jack pads, DO NOT position the lift arm pads under the battery or side rails, as shown in red
- Remove the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Install).

Power off vehicle via center display
NoteControls > Safety & Security > Power Off

Disconnect LV battery connector and First Responder Loop
Note2x connectors, Lift up and release green locking tab, Pull black connector lock outwards to release connection, Release red lock tab on FRL

Remove RH front wheel center cap
Note1x cap
-
Loosen RH front wheel
Note5x nuts, 21mm, 175 Nm
-
Raise vehicle partially and lower onto locks
NoteSet vehicle to comfortable working height, Make sure there's an audible click of the locks on both sides before lowering, otherwise vehicle may tilt to the side

Remove RH front wheel
Note5x nuts, 21mm, 175 Nm
-
Release rear portion of RH front fender garnish
Note3x clips, 2x tabs, Starting from the rear release garnish to access rocker
-
Remove RH front wheel liner
Note2x push-nuts, 11x RVT push-pull

Position coolant drain container underneath front of vehicle
NotePosition to catch all coolant loss

Raise vehicle fully and lower lift onto locks
NoteSet vehicle to comfortable working height, Make sure there's an audible click of the locks on both sides before lowering, otherwise vehicle may tilt to the side

Remove clips securing front aero shield
Note5x push clips
-
Remove bolts securing front aero shield and remove from vehicle
Note9x bolts, 10mm, 6 Nm
-
Remove bolts securing front skid plate to body sill
Note2x bolts, 15mm, 30 Nm
-
Remove bolts securing front skid plate to body casting
Note2x bolts, 15mm, 60 Nm
-
Remove bolts securing front skid plate to front subframe and remove skid plate
Note4x bolts, 15mm, 70 Nm, 2x bolts, 10mm, 10 Nm
-
Disconnect RH sill to underhood hose from RH side sill PT return hose
Note1x spring clip, Plug hoses as needed, Use shop towel to clean any residue coolant inside RH rocker panel as necessary

Disconnect RH sill to underhood hose from FDU heat exchanger junction hose
Note1x spring clip, Place shop towel under hose connection to catch some coolant when disconnected, Plug hoses as needed, Use shop towel to wipe residue coolant on HV battery cover and ancillary bay cover

Release RH sill to underhood hose clips from body
Note4x clips

Remove RH sill to underhood hose from vehicle
NoteRemove coolant plug on side sill return hose end and drain coolant, Carefully maneuver hose out from in-between HV battery and vehicle body, Note orientation of hose during removal

Install RH sill to underhood hose to vehicle
NoteInstall coolant plug to FDU heat exchanger junction hose end when installing, Once coolant hose is maneuvered through HV battery and body install plug back into side sill return hose end, Note orientation of hose during install

Secure RH sill to underhood hose clips to body
Note4x clips

Connect RH sill to underhood hose to FDU heat exchanger junction hose
Note1x spring clip, Place shop towel under connection to catch some coolant when disconnecting plugs from hose, Unplug hoses as needed, Use shop towel to wipe residue coolant on HV battery cover and ancillary bay cover

Connect RH sill to underhood hose to RH side sill PT return hose
Note1x spring clip, Unplug hoses as needed, Use shop towel to clean any residue coolant inside RH rocker panel as necessary, Perform push-pull-push method

Remove coolant drain container from underneath vehicle
-
Position front skid plate for installation and thread in all bolts
Note4x bolts, 15mm, 70 Nm, 2x bolts, 15mm, 60 Nm, 2x bolts, 15mm, 30 Nm, 2x bolts, 10mm, 10 Nm, Torque at later step

Torque bolts securing front skid plate to body casting
Note2x bolts, 15mm, 60 Nm
-
Torque bolts securing front skid plate to body sill
Note2x bolts, 15mm, 30 Nm
-
Torque bolts securing front skid plate to front subframe
Note4x bolts, 15mm, 70 Nm, 2x bolts, 10mm, 10 Nm
-
Apply Loctite 222 onto front aero shield bolts and install fasteners securing front aero shield to vehicle
Note9x bolts, 10mm, 6 Nm
-
Install clips securing front aero shield
Note5x push clips
-
Lower vehicle partially and set lift onto locks
NoteRaise lift off locks, then hold lock release lever to keep locks free while vehicle is lowered, Set vehicle to comfortable working height

Install RH front wheel liner
Note2x push-nuts, 11x RVT push-pull, insert LH side tab at top of wheel liner into RH side slot, ensure proper positioning of bottom edge of wheel liner

Spray area with brake cleaner and wipe residual fluid off with towel
-
Secure rear portion of RH front fender garnish
Note3x clips, 2x tabs, Fully secure and carefully engage clips
-
Install RH front wheel
Note5x nuts, 21mm, 175 Nm, Start lug nuts by hand before using power tool
-
Lower vehicle fully
NoteRaise lift off locks, then hold lock release lever to keep locks free while vehicle is lowered
-
Torque RH front wheel
Note5x nuts, 21mm, 175 Nm
-
Install RH front wheel center cap
Note1x cap, Verify emblem is aligned with valve stem
-
Remove coolant bottle cap
-
Inspect coolant level and top off as necessary
NoteEnsure that the fluid level is at the Max line, Top off fluid as required
-
Connect First Responder Loop and LV battery connector
Note2x connectors, Secure FRL first, Seat LV battery connection and push black connector lock inwards to secure, Engage upper locking tab when fully seated

Access thermal system routines using the UI
NoteSelect quick controls > Service mode > Diagnostics > Thermal, Authorize routines by holding right turn signal, depressing brake pedal for 10 seconds with key on phone dock

Select 'Start' button at 'Start Coolant Air Purge' using the UI and ‘TEST_VCFRONT_X_THERMAL-COOLANT-AIR-PURGESearch for routine in ToolboxCoolant Air PurgeThermal / Coolant System - Coolant Purge Starthv / Front Drive Inverter Replacement - Coolant Air Purgehv / Rear Drive Inverter Replacement - Coolant Air Purgehv / Rear Left Drive Inverter Replacement - Coolant Air Purgehv / Rear Right Drive Inverter Replacement - Coolant Air Purgehv / Front Drive Unit Replacement - Coolant Air Purgehv / Rear Drive Unit Replacement - Coolant Air PurgeThermal / Actions - Coolant Purge Stop or Coolant Purge Start - SUCCESS' window will appear
NoteCoolant pumps will be audible, Test lasts approximately 10 mins, Putting vehicle into drive state will stop this routine, Monitor levels as required, Select ‘X’ at top left of window to close once complete

Inspect coolant level and top off as necessary
NoteEnsure that the fluid level is at the Max line, Top off fluid as required

Install coolant bottle cap
- Install the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Install).

Exit Service Mode
NoteControls>Software select Exit Service Mode button

Remove vehicle from lift
NoteLower rack arms fully and remove them from under vehicle, Remove air suspension from "Jack Mode"

Calibrate the rear doors.
NoteIf the "Calibration Needed" message appears on the vehicle touchscreen, touch and hold Calibrate to calibrate the rear doors.
- Raise LH and RH front windows
- Close LH front door
