Pinch Sensor - Liftgate - LH (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Remove the lower liftgate trim. See Trim - Liftgate - Lower (Remove and Replace).
  2. Remove the liftgate speaker grille. See Grille - Speaker - Liftgate (Remove and Replace).
  3. Remove the upper liftgate trim. See Trim - Upper - Liftgate (Remove and Replace).
  4. Remove the LH and RH liftgate speakers. See Speaker - Liftgate - LH (Remove and Replace).
  5. Remove the LH and RH liftgate tweeters. See Tweeter - Liftgate - LH (Remove and Replace).
  6. Remove the center liftgate bracket. See Bracket - Trim - Liftgate - Center (Remove and Replace).

    Note
    It is not necessary to remove the clips from the bracket after removal.
  7. Remove the LH rear active spoiler catch basin cover.

    Note
    Move the LH rear liftgate speaker and tweeter harness to the side.
  8. Disconnect the liftgate cinch actuator connector.
  9. Remove the bolts (x3) that attach the cinch actuator to the liftgate, and then disconnect the connector.
    3 Nm (2.2 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10mm socket
  10. Push the liftgate LH rear drain through the access hole back into the liftgate.
  11. Release the LH rear drain tube from the basin, and then remove drain tube from the liftgate.
  12. Remove and discard the fir tree clip that attaches the LH liftgate active spoiler catch basin to the liftgate.
  13. Remove the LH rear liftgate active spoiler catch basin.

    Note
    Rotate the LH rear catch basin clockwise, and then slide the catch basin to the center of the liftgate to remove it.
  14. Remove the clips (x6) from the LH tailgate pinch sensor.
  15. Disconnect the LH liftgate pinch sensor lower connector.

    Note
    The connector is located next to the liftgate cinch actuator.
  16. Release the clip that attaches the LH liftgate pinch sensor lower connector wiring harness to the liftgate.
  17. Disconnect the LH liftgate pinch sensor upper connector, and then remove the pinch sensor from the vehicle.

Install

  1. Position the LH liftgate pinch sensor into the vehicle, and then connect the upper connector.
  2. Install the clip that attaches the LH liftgate pinch sensor lower connector wiring harness to the liftgate.

    Note
    Make sure the wiring harness clip is fully secure.
  3. Connect the LH liftgate pinch sensor lower connector.

    The connector is located next to the liftgate cinch actuator.
  4. Install the clips (x6) to the LH tailgate pinch sensor.
  5. Install the LH rear liftgate active spoiler catch basin.

    Note
    Install the LH rear catch basin into the center gap, slide it the LH side, and then rotate the catch base counterclockwise to secure it.
  6. Install a new fir tree clip that attaches the LH liftgate active spoiler catch basin to the liftgate.
  7. Position the LH rear drain tube into the liftgate, and then secure the drain tube to the basin.

    Note
    Make sure the end of the tube that connects to the LH liftgate catch basin is fully connected.
  8. Position the liftgate LH rear drain into the liftgate, and then push the drain through the bottom of the liftgate hole.
  9. Install the bolts (x3) that attach the cinch actuator to the liftgate, and then connect the connector.
    3 Nm (2.2 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10mm socket
  10. Install the LH rear active spoiler catch basin cover.

    Note
    Route the LH liftgate speaker and tweeter harness back to the original position.
  11. Install the center liftgate bracket. See Bracket - Trim - Liftgate - Center (Remove and Replace).
  12. Install the LH and RH liftgate tweeters. See Tweeter - Liftgate - LH (Remove and Replace).
  13. Install the LH and RH liftgate speakers. See Speaker - Liftgate - LH (Remove and Replace).
  14. Install the upper liftgate trim. See Trim - Upper - Liftgate (Remove and Replace).
  15. Install the liftgate speaker grille. See Grille - Speaker - Liftgate (Remove and Replace).
  16. Install the lower liftgate trim. See Trim - Liftgate - Lower (Remove and Replace).
