Remove

  1. Open the LH and RH front doors.
  2. Lower the LH and RH front windows.
  3. Move the front passenger seat fully rearward.
  4. Remove the front passenger floor mat.
  5. Remove the passenger footwell cover. See Cover - Footwell - Passenger (Remove and Replace).
  6. Remove the RH center console side carpet. See Carpet - Side Panel - Center Console - LH (Remove and Replace).
  7. Remove the RH front sill panel trim. See Trim - Sill Panel - Front - LH (Remove and Replace).
  8. Remove the RH IP end cap. See End Cap - Instrument Panel - LH (Remove and Replace).
  9. Remove the RH middle A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Middle - LH (Remove and Replace).
  10. Remove the RH lower A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Lower - LH (Remove and Replace).
  11. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  12. Disconnect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  13. Remove the center console phone dock from the center console as an assembly. However, do not remove the inductive charger from the phone dock. See Phone Dock - Center Console (Remove and Replace).
  14. Remove the instrument panel service panel from the center console as an assembly. However, do not remove the cabin temperature sensor fan from the service panel. See Service Panel - Instrument Panel (Remove and Replace).
  15. Remove the touchscreen. See Touchscreen (HW3) (Remove and Replace).

    Note
    It is not necessary to remove the display mechanism from the touchscreen after the assembly has been removed from the instrument panel.
  16. Release the tabs (x4) that attach the instrument panel closeout panel to the instrument panel, and then remove the closeout panel from the instrument panel.
  17. Remove the RH instrument panel middle trim. See Trim - Middle - Instrument Panel - RH (Remove and Replace).
  18. Remove the front passenger knee airbag as an assembly. However, do not remove the components from the knee airbag assembly after the assembly has been removed from the instrument panel. See Knee Airbag - Front Passenger (Remove and Replace).
  19. Remove the glove box. See Glove Box (Remove and Replace).
  20. Remove the screws (x4) that attach the outboard and inboard SMA latch locator plates to the glove box.
    2 Nm (1.5 lbs-ft)
    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T20 bit
  21. Remove the screws (x2) that attach the SMA latch to the glove box.
    2 Nm (1.5 lbs-ft)
    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T20 bit
  22. Remove the SMA latch assembly from the glove box:
    1. Route the manual release cable out of the glove box housing.
    2. Release the electrical harness from the mounting points (x2).
    3. Lift the SMA latch out of the glove box.

Install

  1. Position the SMA latch onto the glove box:
    1. Route the manual release cable into the glove box housing.
    2. Secure the electrical harness into the mounting points (x2).
    3. Insert the SMA latch assembly arms into the glove box door.
  2. Install the SMA latch screws (x2).
    2 Nm (1.5 lbs-ft)
    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T20 bit
  3. Secure the outboard and inboard SMA latch locator plates, and then attach the screws (x4).
    2 Nm (1.5 lbs-ft)
    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T20 bit
  4. Install the glove box. See Glove Box (Remove and Replace).
  5. Install the front passenger knee airbag. See Knee Airbag - Front Passenger (Remove and Replace).
  6. Install the RH center console side panel carpet. See Carpet - Side Panel - Center Console - LH (Remove and Replace).
  7. Install the front passenger footwell cover. See Cover - Footwell - Passenger (Remove and Replace).
  8. Install the RH lower A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Lower - LH (Remove and Replace).
  9. Install the RH middle A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Middle - LH (Remove and Replace).
  10. Install the RH instrument panel end cap. See End Cap - Instrument Panel - LH (Remove and Replace).
  11. Install the RH front sill panel trim. See Trim - Sill Panel - Front - LH (Remove and Replace).
  12. Install the front passenger floor mat.
  13. Install the RH instrument panel middle trim. See Trim - Middle - Instrument Panel - RH (Remove and Replace).
  14. Fasten the tabs (x4) that attach the IP closeout panel.
  15. Install the touchscreen. See Touchscreen - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  16. Install the instrument panel service panel. See Service Panel - Instrument Panel (Remove and Replace).
  17. Install the center console phone dock. See Phone Dock - Center Console (Remove and Replace).
  18. Reconnect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  19. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  20. Restore the front passenger seat back to its original position.
  21. Calibrate the LH and RH rear doors by holding each upper B-pillar button in the down position.
  22. Raise the LH and RH front windows.
  23. Close the LH front door.
