Hose - HV Battery to Front Drive Unit Inverter (Plaid) (Remove and Replace)

Correction code 18300032 1.14 NOTE: Unless otherwise explicitly stated in the procedure, the above correction code and FRT reflect all of the work required to perform this procedure, including the linked procedures. Remove

  1. Open the LH front door.
  2. Lower the LH and RH front windows.
  3. Raise and support vehicle. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  4. Lock the steering wheel into position.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Steering wheel holder - 1090880-00-A
  5. Remove the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Install).
  6. Disconnect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  7. Raise the vehicle partially and lower onto locks.

    Note
    Set the vehicle to comfortable working height. Make sure there's an audible click of the locks on both sides before lowering, otherwise vehicle may tilt to the side.
  8. Remove the front skidplate. See Skidplate - Front (Remove and Replace).
  9. Remove the bolt that attaches the steering gear assembly to the electric steering column, and then separate the components.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
  10. Position a coolant drain container under the front of the vehicle to catch vehicle coolant.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Coolant drain container
  11. Position a foldable funnel and absorbent material under the HV battery to front drive unit inverter hose.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Foldable funnel - 1463565-00-A
  12. Release the hose clip that attaches the HV battery to front drive unit inverter hose to the HV battery, remove the hose from the HV battery, and then install a plug on the HV battery.

    Note
    Allow the hose to fully drain.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Coolant hose plug kit - 1135762-00-A
  13. Remove the foldable funnel and absorbent material from underneath the HV battery to front drive unit inverter hose.
  14. Place absorbent material underneath the LH area of the front drive unit to prevent coolant spillage onto the HV battery.
  15. Release the clip that attaches the HV battery to front drive unit inverter hose to the HV battery casing.

    CAUTION
    Carefully release the clip. Do not damage the HV battery casing.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Clip pry tool
  16. Release the hose clip that attaches the HV battery to front drive unit inverter hose to the inverter, remove the hose from the inverter, and then install a plug on the inverter.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Coolant hose plug kit - 1135762-00-A
    • Flashlight LED
    • Pick Miniature Soft Grip, 90 degree tip, 6 in
  17. Remove the HV battery to front drive unit inverter hose from the vehicle.

Install

  1. Position the HV battery to front drive unit inverter hose on the vehicle, and then install the hose clip that attaches the hose to the inverter.

    Note
    Remove any plugs prior to installation. Perform push-pull-push test to make sure the hose is fully seated.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Flashlight LED
  2. Install the clip that attaches the HV battery to front drive unit inverter hose to the HV battery casing.
  3. Remove absorbent material from underneath the LH area of the front drive unit.
  4. Install the hose clip that attaches the HV battery to front drive unit inverter hose to the HV battery.

    Note
    Remove any plugs prior to installation. Perform push-pull-push test to make sure the hose is fully seated.
  5. Clean the area and wipe away any residual fluid.
  6. Remove the coolant drain container from underneath the vehicle.
  7. Position the steering gear assembly on the electric steering column, and then install the bolt that attaches the steering gear assembly to the electric steering column.
    30 Nm (22.1 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
    • Torque wrench with angle measurement
  8. Install the front skidplate. See Skidplate - Front (Remove and Replace).
  9. Lower the vehicle until the tires are touching the ground.

    Note
    Raise lift off locks, and then hold lock release lever to keep locks free while vehicle is lowered.
  10. Remove the coolant bottle cap.
  11. Fill coolant to the proper level.

    Ensure the fluid level is filled to the Max line.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Inspection mirror, rectangular
    • Flashlight LED
  12. Connect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  13. Connect toolbox 3 to the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect).
  14. In toolbox 3, click the Actions/Autodiag tab, and type "Purge" into the search field.
  15.     Note
    • Coolant pumps will be audible.
    • Make sure the vehicle is not in drive state. Putting the vehicle into drive state will stop this routine.
    • Monitor levels as required.
    • Routine is still running despite the stop message.
    • Test lasts approximately 10 minutes.
  16. Inspect the coolant level and top off as necessary.

    Ensure the fluid level is filled to the Max line.

    • Inspection mirror, rectangular
  17. Install the coolant bottle cap.
  18. Disconnect toolbox 3 and remove laptop from the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect).
  19. Install the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Install).
  20. Remove the vehicle from lift. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  21. Calibrate the rear doors.

    Note
    If the "Calibration Needed" message appears on the vehicle touchscreen, touch and hold Calibrate to calibrate the rear doors.
  22. Raise the LH and RH front windows.
  23. Close the LH front door.
